I agree with you 100%
What colour car do you have or did you used to drive?
WORD PAIRS -APRIL 2026 (Old thread full )
Exactly that.
Although it’s still only, the UK may recognise Palestine as a state unless certain conditions are fulfilled
What will that mean for the UK and for those supporters of either group living here?
I agree with you 100%
Medicin sans frontier are much more trustworthy than an envoy from US
How can any of you on here deny that people are starving in Gaza??? I shake my head in horror at some of the dreadful comments being made on this forum about Palestinians
May we never live in such fear and circumstances
Why is it unacceptable that there is a possibility charities etc
can do no wrong ?
Mother and baby homes, private schools, Church run charities,
etc , not all but some did wrong

After visiting Gaza, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff confirmed yesterday that “There is hardship and shortage, but no starvation”.
The shameful truth is that Starmer, Macron and Carney do have sufficient insight into the same reality as Witkoff, but lack the moral courage to stand up against the hurricane of lies about starvation, unlawful killing and the other trumped up charges against Israel.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What incredible misrepresentations!
Perceiving the situation, as it were falsely, in a mirror,
Alice through the looking glass
utterly bizarre, frankly
The hurricane of facts on starvation, malnutrition and killings at aid points and in communities have been extremely well documented by very reliable organisations
Many, many countries support the charges made by the International Court of Justice against the current Israeli regime led by Netanyahu and his current cabinet.
All 125 ICC member states, including France and the United Kingdom, are required to arrest Netanyahu and Gallant if they enter the state's territory
Please do come back to this side of the mirror? Oppose this terrible regime, and support people in our Jewish communities suffering from increased anti-semitism

Why on earth is he waiting? If the state of Palestine will exist next month, why not right now? The current slo-mo genocide is a simply unsupportable atrocity, and must be stopped, with Israel made to pay reparations and withdraw from the West Bank. Recognition of Palestine would add significant weight.
Well I agree in theory, but in practice Starmer has to manage a complex situation, particularly, as I pointed out, the growth in anti-semitism, and then very extreme voices supporting Hamas on the other, and manage the different voices in the Labour Party and the potential new far left-but not-quite SWP party
That why I like his graduated approach. but he had made it clear - and surely w all know it will end up as calling for statehood, but you cant jump the stages where issues are fought through.

Is truly heinous.
Live Aid was for a natural disaster inspired by images of starving children. The difference being that aid could be delivered to those who needed it most.
Imagine how the world would have been outraged at the time if this disaster was man made and a government supported by western powers was causing it.
Times have obviously changed.

You’re getting out of order.
You don’t talk about another thread and in any case quite a few of us who like GB news are Labour voters so keep your misconceptions to yourself.
On Gaza, all that doctors see are gunshot wounds not who shot the bullets.Information is extremely hazy on that.If you’re in a crowd and someone is shooting you duck down and don’t see who’s shooting. It’s in hamas’s own interest to shoot crowds heading out for aid as it’s good propaganda for them. Then there are the criminal gangs, some working for hamas and some for themselves who want to scare crowds and get the aid to sell. It’s a very murky picture but go ahead and swallow all the hamas information if you want to.

Aid is being given by airdrop, by GHF and now lorries which incidentally are being looted the minute they cross the border by the gangs.
Recognising a Palestine State while hamas are still armed and dangerous and keep the hostages in tunnels is simply rewarding them.
Dropping aid by air is the most ineffective way of distribution, one plane load isn't the equivalent to one lorry load.
Yes, looting is taking place but that's not why people are starving. If people weren't starving, aid wouldn't be needed.
Such energy in the Palestinians running to collect food, children too
If you & your children were starving, Annie, and a limited amount of food arrived, you'd probably surprise yourself how much (temporary) energy you could summon up, to keep your children alive a few more days.
WHY do you clutch at every straw that seems to offer a way out from accepting that there is genocide being perpetrated in Gaza as we post?
Well yes. As has been said several times those who are severely malnourished wont have the energy to join the looters so wont be getting the food they so desperately need, but that doesn't mean they don't exist does it.
I am struggling to understand the mindset of Hamas. If a genocide is being committed in Gaza, why is Hamas actively working against any compromise? Is Hamas blind to the suffering of Palestinians? Does it simply not have emotions? Why won’t it return hostages to Israel?

My take on this is that even if Hamas return hostages Israel will continue to bomb Gaza and limit aid. If this was about the hostages Netanyahu would have pushed harder for a ceasefire from the beginning, when Qatar were trying to act as mediators.
Hamas is a law unto themselves, a terrorist militia that is capable of terrible atrocities but Israel is a first world democratic country supported by western governments, not terrorists allegedly, so they could have and should have stopped short of genocide and famine.
I agree Babs. IMO obliterating Gaza has been the main aim, not securing the release of hostages.
Why does Hamas want to obliterate Palestine?
Israel not Hamas.
Israel does not want to obliterate Palestine . This is a lie. Israel will seek to incorporate Palestine into a safe land mass without Hamas. Israel will always need oversight of Palestine until it decides to stop threatening Israel probably 50 years down the line.
If Israel wanted to incorporate Palestine into a safe land mass without Hamas they wouldn't be terrorising Palestinians on the West Bank and forcing them out of their homes and off their land.

Hmmm that kind of flies in the face of what has been happening in this neck of the woods for many decades, and as Smileless said doesn’t account for why illegal settlers have been taking over the West Bank and Palestinians have been killed there.
Unfortunately there’s a war going on Smileless2012 with no sign of any ceasefire. I am sure that Palestine is also inflicting damage on Israel. It just needs to be reported. The world has conveniently forgotten the hostage crisis.
Western politicians seem completely ineffectual in this crisis.
