Exactly that.
Although it’s still only, the UK may recognise Palestine as a state unless certain conditions are fulfilled
What will that mean for the UK and for those supporters of either group living here?

Returning to the OP, I do feel a bit sorry for Starmer as he is trying to keep various factions happy within the Party and the country.Inevitably he will end up between a rock and a hard place.

I assumed phill to be Phillipa returned. I shouldn’t assume

I feel for Starmer, inherited a nightmare, compounded by terrible world events, especially Israel Gaza

I’m tired of people saying he’s weak on supporting Israel because he needs the Muslim vote. That ship sailed some years ago. We have Muslim mp’s and councillors who are now independent not Labour representatives.
Then we have the accusation that he can’t be more critical of Netanyahu’s government because of his Jewish family

Top post, StoneofDestiny.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 10-Aug-25 05:07:31

Seconded.

Meanwhile a total of 212 deaths from malnutrition. 20000 children have been treated in hospital for malnutrition.

38 people killed and 481 injured seeking food aid.

The plan to drive the Palestinians south to a huge concentration camp is being put into action.

1000000 people are being forcibly moved south to be incarcerated in a huge compound, with no basic facilities like water or sanitation.

On the 7 October, Netanyahu’s IDF will lay seige to Gaza city and completely level it.

Netanyahu is clearly prepared to sacrifice every one of the hostages, and neither will the bodies of those already dead be brought home.

The man is a monster.

Figures from Hamas run Health Ministry and

474 arrested in the protest yesterday figures by BBC !

Surely Hamas will release the hostages, they will have nothing to gain by murdering the innocents and they have the support
of most countries

World wide protests over Israel’s actions must amount to many, many millions of people.

In every country of the world baring the odd few we are witness to the worlds humanity, and its sorrow over man’s inhumanity to man.

Israelis are joining thst protest on the streets of Israel, and Jews everywhere are part of the plea to stop the terrible slaughter.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 10-Aug-25 05:37:22

You are assuming moral integrity to a group of thugs?

Of course they will kill the hostages.

A group of thugs is believed and trusted by the world and you Whitewave ? surely not

Hamas has little power now, those that are left.
Israel has succeeded in almost destroying a Nation. How can they ever face the World.

What nation ?

The saddest thing to me is that those people in Gaza now being ethnically cleansed from Gaza city and who knows after that are almost certainly children/grandchildren etc of Palestinians ethnically cleansed fro Israel in 1948.

If forced from Gaza 77. Years ago they came back to live in Gaza ?

ronib Sun 10-Aug-25 07:19:14

Surely it’s sadder not to have grandchildren and children wwm2. Land is a disposable commodity. Life - denied to the hostages- is non negotiable once it’s been stolen away by terrorists. That’s it.

The beautiful Bibas Family all murdered, the little ones
4 years old Ariel and 9 month old Kfir , and their parents and
grandparents murdered

ronib Sun 10-Aug-25 07:45:48

Yarden Bibas alive and with his family gone. I am so sorry for his life long pain. It’s barbaric.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 10-Aug-25 07:47:54

What I do think is that Jews world wide will unfortunately not be safer as a result of Israeli actions in Gaza.

Until the interconnected-ness of the two is full accepted by both sides and oppression ceases the violence will never end.

By its own yardstick, Israel has totally failed in Gaza, and almost certainly succeeded in creating thousands more people who hate everything Israel stands for, thus perpetuating insurrection for ever more.

Look at the Mau Mau in Kenya and the Vietcong all as a result of long and continued oppression. Terrible atrocities were committed by a people whose reaction to no freedom and oppression was like a coiled spring.

People need to be free.

ronib Sun 10-Aug-25 07:56:26

Hamas ruled in Gaza. Hamas oppressed Gazans. Hamas must be removed. That’s the message the world needs to hear.Wwm2

Russians are in danger worldwide ? No only Jews and you have
no problem with this , you describe it as unfortunate ?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 10-Aug-25 08:07:55

But Israel has singularly failed to remove Hamas.

In fact it is generally agreed that it has grown since the bombing and starvation.

You cannot oppress, starve and imprison a population and expect loyalty and support in return!

Of course not.

And don’t forget this oppression has been going on since 1948.

No one in their right mind supports those committing terribly violent acts, but neither should you be surprised when this happens.

Excellent post yesterday @ 23.23 StoneofDestiny.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 10-Aug-25 08:16:24

Who said that Israelis and Palestinians are “bound up in the same garment of destiny”?

That is profoundly right.
