Unfolding Genocide

BBC report

“Israel has faced mounting criticism over the 22-month-long war with Hamas, with UN-backed experts warning of widespread famine unfolding in the besieged territory.

On Tuesday members of an international group of former leaders known as "The Elders" for the first time called the war in Gaza an "unfolding genocide" and blamed Israel for causing famine among its population.

Following a visit to the Gaza border, Helen Clark and Mary Robinson, a former prime minister of New Zealand and a former president of Ireland, said in a joint statement: "What we saw and heard underlines our personal conviction that there is not only an unfolding, human-caused famine in Gaza. There is an unfolding genocide."

Most of us have or had busy lives Oreo. How we spend out time when older is no concern of yours and not to be criticised.
There are many countries where women may not feel safe to walk alone. Even here in the UK so picking out Gaza was wrong.

More insults Oreo. Getting very close to the wind calling posters silly.

Agree Oreo Israel committing genocide by - bombing, starvation , moving Palestinians from north to south or south to north for 22 months allegedly

Are you serious? Posters regularly call other posts silly on this site, especially on N&P threads.
It’s so obvious that if Israel wanted rid of all Palestinians then they would actually have done so long ago.

You are so wrong Wwm2

I certainly am not. I don’t say these things lightly and simply to make a point.

ronib Fri 29-Aug-25 09:54:46

I am not persuaded by your argument. Wwm2. But Oreo is on the button!

Oreo’s comments at 9.24 - what did you not understand Wwm2?

Babs03 Fri 29-Aug-25 10:06:21

I agree WWM there have been blatantly racist comments made about Muslims, and I do wonder, as I have said before whether this eagerness for Netanyahu to annihilate all Palestinians is directly related to this.
We have Muslims in the family and know many Muslims, some practising, some not, and they feel that the hatred directed against Palestinians is also being directed against them. Certainly cases of Islamophobia have increased substantially in recent years.
Tbh we know Muslims who now don’t ever declare their faith and take steps to make sure nobody knows they are Muslim, even going so far as to anglicise their first name.
Is sad but predictable unfortunately, and Rabbis and Imams have joined forces in many towns and cities to try to try to dispel feelings of hatred towards both Jews and Muslims, with joint community projects inviting non Muslim and non Jewish people to visit a mosque or synagogue and talk to ordinary Muslim and Jewish people.

Joint statement by the UN Security Council - every country signed it except of course the USA

Joint statement:

We express our deep concern about the presence of famine in Gaza Governorate.

We call on "israel" to immediately reverse its decision to expand its operation in Gaza.

Famine in Gaza must be stopped immediately and international law respected.

The use of starvation as a weapon of war is prohibited under international law.

Approximately 41,000 children are at risk of death due to malnutrition in Gaza.

We call for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

We call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas.

ronib Fri 29-Aug-25 10:10:46

Completely useless statement. Outrageous really.

Anniebach Fri 29-Aug-25 10:13:04

P.S, release hostages

Whitewavemark2 Fri 29-Aug-25 10:15:15

I wonder how the blood money meeting got on at the White House.

IMO Blair should be questioned by parliament.

ronib Fri 29-Aug-25 10:20:42

Nice change of subject Wwm2

Why ?

Not useless at all. It's how the majority feels. Those supporting Netanyahu want the war to continue with more and more dead and probably the hostages too.
Those with compassion want the killing to end, the hostages returned to anxious families and substantial aid getting into Gaza.

It was from UN, how many from Hamas are UN aid workers now ?

ronib Fri 29-Aug-25 10:27:54

So much emotion displayed. This is how Israel as the major player can come to terms with the many problems posed by Palestinians sharing a land mass.
This is about a country moving forward over the next 100 years. There will be continued wars and millions more will die unless Hamas is removed from Israel.

😄😄😄 It was from the Security Council.

The Security Council has 15 permanent members

(China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) and ten non-permanent members who serve two-year terms. For 2025, the non-permanent members are Algeria, Denmark, Greece, Guyana, Pakistan, Panama, Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, and Somalia.

The only country not to sign up to the statement was mad Trump’s.

Exactly so👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Clearly not as mad as we think Wwm2.
