Sticks and stones may break my bones…

But if I call you names should I expect to be arrested?
Father Ted comedy writer Graham Linehan has been arrested for his comments about transgender men in women-only “safe” spaces yet aggressive -even armed- shoplifters, muggers, mobile phone thieves on scooters, burglars and thieves seem to slink below the police radar.
Is this really the world we want to live in?

I suppose it depends on your definition of comedy.. There is in my view nothing funnier than those who pretend that people with balls (aka men) are women.
There is absolutely no evidence of incitement there, and as someone says if there is than the queen presumably is guilty too.
I think if I remember rightly he is considering suing the Met with support from the FSU, I hope that goes ahead.
My view on this is nothing to do with whether I like or agree with GL ( I actually have quite conflicting views about him) mine is about free speech, I apply the absolute same principle to those who are protesting about Palestine Action, and I think a lot of those people are absolute muppets.

I’m with you on this Galaxy. I’m often slightly ill at ease with comedy like father ted. It’s close to the bone though I’ve found myself laughing out loud at times despite discomfort.

A friend took herself off to London with the aim of being arrested at the PA demonstration. Yes, she was arrested and has to report back in several weeks. She’s very pleased with herself for contributing to blocking the courts and dominating the time of the Met police. She’s a mid-seventies age grannie with her first arrest. Sees herself as a freedom fighter, who cares about Palestine and freedom of speech. Doesn’t believe parliament had enough evidence to proscribe PA
I’m prepared to be proved wrong. I marched against the invasion of Iraq. I fear the unreliability of the weapons of mass destruction that led to that disastrous invasion is feeding Palestine Action supporters like my friend. I’m certain she’s typical of the people ensuring they get arrested. Kind, well meaning and idealistic
Idealism can’t dictate policy. The Met can’t possibly continue arresting hundreds of kind, gentle grandparents who pose no threat

Doodledog and TerriBull, one of my increasingly moments of feeling just a bit puzzled was when my memory nudged me as I read about GL’s arrest, asking me why those aggressive trans women in frocks peeing on statues of suffragettes, wuth their lady dicks exposed, weren’t arrested by armed or even non armed officers.

It's a mystery, Iam64.

Isn’t it just

I’m not a fan of conspiracy stories, but we could begin to winder if women count for less than men, even when the men are disguised as drag queens and behaving badly

I'm increasingly of the opinion that the world is dominated by men.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that the world is dominated by men.

I have certainly wondered what some British men would get up to left to themselves - ie if this was a society where Sharia law applied =I'd be willing to bet many of them would join in and be just as bad as a lot of men in those backward societies are.

Some British men are incredibly abusive to their wives and children. They walk amongst us

Families are a conundrum - I agree, Iam64, but I also know families where wives are abusive to their husbands and children.

This can only establish where the men involved are sweet-natured & long-suffering, but a surprising number of men are just that.

Trans women are men at their very nastiest.
Wondering when the Sandie Peggie case will finally conclude.

You're right - they do walk amongst us and I've encountered women I'm friendly with suffering abuse from their exes back along.

Where I'm living now - there's 3 women I'm friendly with that are ex battered wives/partners to my knowledge. I also have a male friend that's an ex battered husband (in fact I'm the one that basically said to him that he'd done nothing wrong to have had that treatment from her - as there are women like that too) and he's "come out" publicly as an ex-battered husband these days and "tells the world" about it and asks for there to be more support available for men in that position and people accept that's how it was for him.

But yep....it does seem to be a much higher proportion of women than men that come on the receiving end of that sort of treatment.

‘Two lovely black eyes, oh what a surprise, only for telling a man he was wrong I got two lovely black eyes .’
An old music hall song sung by a woman and seen by the audience as a comedic turn.
Society is still dominated by men as they are physically stronger than us but I’d like to think that in the distant future it will gradually level out.A long time yet tho.
