...Would you prefer directness ronib? Are you one of these 3 women?
CariadAgain I also have a relative once a Royal Marine Commando. He was very good at emphasising how his job was to follow orders and not question the legitimacy of the action. Clearly you come from this background? Well I don’t.
You can hardly blame people like Cariad's father for their opinion of the Jewish terrorists who were killing British soldiers. You'd hardly expect them to be full of good feeling and fond memories.
This has got me wondering what else he didnt mention to me - as I'm unaware of that aspect. But that "killing" side of things was something he rarely touched upon one way or another.
It was more clear what he thought of it all that he didnt want either myself or my erstwhile brother going into the Armed Forces - he was quite clear he wanted us both to steer well clear. I did steer well clear....I would have been unemployed sooner than have anything to do with them. My erstwhile brother on the other hand - his choice was incredibly restricted by his IQ of 80 (ie low!) and he saw nothing against them and his last job was being a driver at Greenham Common (ie the Cruise Missile base) - whilst complaining he didn't want me demonstrating outside (a fact I studiously ignored obviously and did exactly what I pleased in the peace cause).
My father was expressing sympathies with the Palestinians and it was clear he was mentally on their side - whatever was actually going on. He was obviously more likely to be on their side anyway - given that he was very very conscious of having come from a large/poor working class family and how it had affected his life for the worse and would have sympathised with them having their homes stolen from them by the Israelis. He was very straitlaced on the moral front about peoples conduct in any respect...and so would have very much disapproved of the Israelis all round.
