Isn’t it ironic that someone who made statements that some gun deaths are inevitable and justifiable to protect 2nd Amendment rights. - was shot by someone whose “rights” he was protecting.
Before anyone jumps on me - of course no one should be murdered for their views.

Trump was honouring the dead. In his own way.

A disrespectful way.

“Trump was honouring the dead in his own way “

Well ronib, I wonder what Mr T would have to do to encourage you out of his fan club

ronib Wed 24-Sept-25 13:49:09

Only disrespectful to you theworriedwell and what is your involvement with the Kirk family might one ask?

ronib Wed 24-Sept-25 13:50:16

I wasn’t particularly pro Trump a day or two ago… but the comments here are inappropriate imo.

That’s an interesting thought Iam64.

No doubt Mr T will come up with something, but maybe some posters’ eyes are now so blinkered, they simply won’t can’t see it.

Didn’t Mr T once say that he could shoot a puppy on 5th Avenue and people would still vote for him (or words to that effect)?

I suppose we’ll just have to watch this space.

Trump did say that smart people don't like him recently, so maybe that's the reason.

Not only me, have you missed how many people find it disrespectful?

I have no involvement with the Kirk family, check out my posts as I e never said they found it disrespectful.

Not sure if you don't understand or just want to twist things.

Maremia Wed 24-Sept-25 14:04:38

It didn't look like a memorial service, the bits I saw. More like some sort of promotional Road Show.

ronib Wed 24-Sept-25 14:05:52

If the Kirk family found comfort from Donald Trump, who are we to criticise?

Unfortunately Trump does have his own brand of humour and expression.

IOMGran Wed 24-Sept-25 14:33:52

Is that like Boris being Boris? Weak.

If.

There isn’t a comment that’s too inappropriate to describe Trump.

I found out last night that the connections between Trump, the Kirk family and the widow's family, go very deep...

However, I do think the whole Kirk thing has been one huge distraction to divert away from the things that are really impacting the US right now.

ronib Thu 25-Sept-25 11:10:42

I don’t quite get the point that an assassination of the President’s friend and supporter is a huge distraction. I don’t think it was planned? That would really make CK the first American martyr!

foxie48 Thu 25-Sept-25 11:35:47

Trump is very adept at using all sorts of "happenings" to distract from things he doesn't want the media to focus on. He's also capable of saying and doing things himself that create headlines and also distraction however, there's no evidence that Trump or his followers had anything to do with Kirk's murder. People have likened his style of presidency as akin to a realty show, there has to be lots to interest and entertain and of course, the murder of a prominent supporter is bound to be of media interest, especially when Trump is in full flow!

I think you’ve missed the point. An event doesn’t have to be planned to be employed as a distraction?

ronib Thu 25-Sept-25 11:50:42

Yes I have missed the point Casdon. Was this assassination meant to be swept under the carpet?

Casdon Thu 25-Sept-25 11:56:02

That’s not what I meant ronib, as I’m sure you know. It’s what’s called dead cat strategy. People move their eyes to something else important, often on multiple occasions (eg assassinations, earthquakes, statements that shock the world, which continually distracts them from the core issues.

ronib Thu 25-Sept-25 13:41:10

Does calling an event a dead cat strategy nullify grief?

I agree. Distract from Epstein.

What are you actually saying ronib?

Oreo Thu 25-Sept-25 13:56:44

That Trump was a friend to the Kirk family, that the Kirk family had many friends and followers and this memorial, whatever anyone thinks of Trump or Kirk himself, was for them and their grief? It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about it.

ronib Thu 25-Sept-25 14:07:54

Yes Oreo … that’s what I’m saying…

Casdon Thu 25-Sept-25 14:09:49

I don’t think that is what ronib is saying Oreo. She is as I read it saying that Trump’s self aggrandisement at the memorial service is excused by his grief, and that people criticising Trump are denigrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk and not respecting him. I don’t believe that is the case, but no doubt ronib will give her meaning.

Anniebach Thu 25-Sept-25 14:10:53

I too agree , what mattered was the family
