No returns of migrants to France yesterday or today.

Owing to last-minute legal challenges and protests from charities.

Seems it’s Starmer’s turn now to sign a deal that literally ‘hasn’t got off the ground’.

Yet I hear there’s an incoming flight to the UK from France so Macron must be pleased.

Just wondering if we have any update on the ability to know none of the new arrivals want to work?

How many of those already given here are on benefits?

So who do you want to replace him?

love0c Fri 10-Oct-25 09:06:27

MayBee70 In your opinion. It is not mine.

And Starmer hiding again. In India where they love him. Please keep him there. I only hope other powers that be in this country are working on how to get him to go. Starmer is a danger to this country.

He’s having to suck up to India because, thanks to Brexit this country is having to suck up to any country that will give us trade deals.

Its stupid, who is supposed to keep them? Too few people paying tax for too many claimants, no wonder people are using food banks despite working. Damage the boats before they sail, no automatic benefits either, this country has become a joke.

Did anyone expect this to be a success?
Tony Abbott, an Australian ex-PM, suggests we follow the way they tackled migrants attempting to enter a sovereign state through the back door. Keep them in detention which does not mean hotels and as soon as weather conditions are favourable and in daylight hours send them back on the boats they arrived in with enough fuel, food and water.
It was Australia's solution and they cocked a deaf ear to criticism from other countries and organisations. They put their country first.

Don’t think they arrived in rubber dinghies though, more like proper boats.

The Australian Navy patrol their waters, and send any boats back.

Seems to work, very few try it now.

I might like to see - in my fantasies, of course - proposals for Chequers to be converted to an HMO (PLF's in other words, Poky Little Flats).
That might concentrate the PM's energies on dealing with the migrant crisis in a constructive way.

Also on Utube I saw a report that said France deports many migrants and is stepping up the procedure along with Denmark and Germany and one or two other European coup tries. Believe it or not, whatever you choose. No mention of the UK at all. It was neither GB news or talk tv, by the way. Just google it if you are interested.

Maremia Thu 09-Oct-25 21:29:41

So, the primary sources are GB News and Talk TV?

On what news channel were those videos on? Ch4 News? BBC?

You Tube actually.

The only ones I can find on utube come from GB News and Talk tv.

For balance, tell us how many total migrants there have been since Labour came into power Primrose53, and compare that number with previous years too please. Estimates will be fine.

58,017 have arrived since Labour came to power.

All the more reason to develop an effective process asap.

Over 7oo yesterday! Over 1000 today? Right or wrong, it is not sustainable! What worries and upsets me is that the genuine ones could well be missed. Like looking for a needle in a haystack!

Yes, Stripey, spend the money on that. Train and employ young people, to a high set of the required skills. Could become a good career path, especially when some previously good careers will be consumed by AI.
Turn a negative into a positive.

Many of those arriving by dinghy have no intention of ever working because of our generous benefits. They are told how to go about it and can run rings around our benefits system.

Since they have, in the main, destroyed their paperwork, how can we know who they really are?

How are you able to see into the minds of other people please?

Maremia Thu 09-Oct-25 17:30:43

No Primrose, they all have to pass successfully through the process, what ever that may evolve into.
If they fail the scrutiny, they go back. No benefits, no training, nada,

They don't get generous benefits!

You have no idea what their intentions are.

I have seen videos of them saying how wonderful our benefits are and why they want to come here.

The poster mentioned training and employing them which implies they will be granted asylum and will stay here. Therefore they will get plenty of benefits.

Mollygo Thu 09-Oct-25 13:21:41

And yet the very people that voted for it are the ones that seem to be complaining that the numbers are increasing.

Evidence?

Is it only those who voted for Brexit who are complaining?

Implies that all those who voted against Brexit are standing with open arms by the shores of the English Channel?

What about those who didn’t bother to vote?

Over 1,000 migrants arrived on dinghies today ! (8/10/2025).

It is beyond ridiculous and Labour are not doing a thing about it.

It’s never going to happen.
Our PM, Home Secretary, a lot of the Judiciary (Judge Bean) are Fabians.
They believe in open borders, it is all part of a greater plan.

Fabians' being part of some great conspiracy is ludicrous.
