A wonderful morning, the Israeli hostages are now free! Seven already back in Israel and another thirteen on the way.The image of the Berman twins embracing after their two years in captivity is so moving.
Am so happy today for both the hostages and their families and friends.πŸ˜ƒ

Thanks Allira it was just a quick light lunch arranged quickly with Mum and a couple of her friends, all late 80’s and all very emotional today, we had large glasses of wine of courseπŸ˜„ we had to do something to mark this day.
Yes, I will ignore all unkind/ unpleasant comments as nothing dims this day for me.I feel as if a weight has been lifted quite honestly.

Allira Mon 13-Oct-25 15:46:46

🀞 a start of better times for all in that region. .

I do hope other Jewish posters are reading this, even if not posting any longer.

A joyous day

A thought for those whose loved ones haven't come home. I can't imagine how they must be feeling seeing others reunited with their families.
Glad for others but so painful for them πŸ₯€

Yes, it must be a very sad day for some.

Just read that 154 freed Palestinian prisoners are going to be deported. Presumably to stop further political activity? One released prisoner had been given 13 life sentences so it’s probably a good policy to remove them.

Was disappointed that the BBC cut back to the studio only minutes after president Trump started speaking, had been waiting to hear what he had to say all morning but BBC didn't co-operate.

Oreo Mon 13-Oct-25 17:57:25

That’s the BBC for you.

LauraNorderr Mon 13-Oct-25 17:59:25

I sincerely hope that the peace holds and that our Jewish friends can once more feel confident living a peaceful life wherever they are in the world.

Allira Mon 13-Oct-25 18:01:10

There is so much antisemitism that it will take a very long time if ever for that to happen.
Universities are hotbeds of it to start with, Labour are taking this issue seriously, the previous government looked the other way.

Galaxy Mon 13-Oct-25 18:31:45

I am late to this thread ( work is irritating that way) but I am so pleased this day has come. But yes thinking also of those who didn't come home.

TerriBull Mon 13-Oct-25 18:39:15

Yes I echo Galaxy's post diectly above and those sentiments expressed by LauraNorder.

I hope you had a nice celebratory lunch Oreo, a very special day for your community and for the wider public too of course.

Oreo Mon 13-Oct-25 18:39:56

Thank you TerriBull and other posters, very kind.

charley68 Mon 13-Oct-25 19:27:02

It is so awful that so few 'living hostages' survived this dreadful ordeal. I hope that all the bodies of those who did not survive are returned today also.
What happened to the women hostages?.

That’s the BBC for you.

BBC radio five played Trump live over more than two hours. I was either driving or doing domestic stuff so listened live.

Iam64 Mon 13-Oct-25 19:35:03

Casdon, thanks for posting the link

Oreo Mon 13-Oct-25 20:33:21

BBC radio is always so much better than tv.
