Sadly there will be civil unrest in Gaza until there is proper government in place, it's inevitable. I just hope it doesn't give Netanyahu the opportunity to continue the war. Gaza needs more aid going in so the fight for resources diminishes.

Hamas killed gangs days ago

This is a new threat on a larger scale which could cause the end of the ceasefire BBC news this morning.
Are you saying this has already happened.? What is your news source for this?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Oct-25 08:56:39

Where is the international military?

Sense should have told them, that this was the first thing needed!

Apart from aid of course.

I think we are now seeing the flaws in Trumps plan.

AGAA4 Sun 19-Oct-25 09:00:36

I thought there was supposed to be a peacekeeping force in place now made up of soldiers from Turkey, India and other countries but none so far.
Instead there is civil war in Gaza.

Is Reuters a good news source?

Hamas is dragging out the return of the bodies of Israeli hostages for a reason, as was suspected they may do.It gives them time to recruit, consolidate and plan. They have no intention of giving up weapons and now will attempt to regain their grip on the Gazan people by killing and threatening them. Not just the clan families but anyone they think may be wavering in their support for hamas.
There may be no other way to stop this other than going after them and killing them.
What do posters think should happen?
Should the IDF just maintain their positions and allow mass killings of Gazans or should they try to stop hamas?
And at what point? Now, as the intelligence knows it will happen, later when it’s been carried out or not at all?

AGAA4 Sun 19-Oct-25 09:30:26

This would not have happened if the peacekeeping force from other countries had been in place from the start.
Trump's plan has fallen at the first hurdle.

Oreo Sun 19-Oct-25 09:33:56

That doesn’t answer my question.

Maremia Sun 19-Oct-25 09:35:49

I suppose we all help by keeping their story alive. Every time we GNs post on the Thread, it keeps it from sinking into obscurity.

Will check back in later for that answer you await.

Don’t stir Maremia this subject is too important for any petty sniping.

I was thinking about it this morning AGAA4 and think the IDF can’t go after hamas again at the moment on just intelligence, it may be a false ploy by hamas to blame Israel on breaking the ceasefire.I think that waiting to see what hamas actually does is sadly, for Gazans, the only thing to do at the moment.

Maremia Sun 19-Oct-25 09:54:12

Don't accuse so aggressively Oreo. You want us to answer a question? I would like you to kindly answer first, as a courtesy to all on this Thread.

AGAA4 Sun 19-Oct-25 09:56:31

Thank you Oreo. Maybe wait and see is the best option.

Maremia Sun 19-Oct-25 09:57:01

It would be wonderful yes, if the IDF did stop shooting at folk in buses with their families.
Think we are all with you on that Oreo

There is nothing remotely aggressive on my part, and I asked posters for their opinions on what should happen about the intelligence received that hamas are planning attacks on their own people.
Nobody has to answer if they prefer no to.

Oreo Sun 19-Oct-25 10:08:40

….but it’s interesting if they do answer, it’s a knotty problem for Israel and all involved in the peace process.

Maremia Sun 19-Oct-25 10:13:21

But, the the words 'stir' and 'sniping' are not gentle friendly words, are they?
But on the other hand, I am in agreement with you, that the IDF should stop breaking the ceasefire by shooting and killing families in buses.

Oreo Sun 19-Oct-25 10:28:26

Sigh🤔

CariadAgain Sun 19-Oct-25 10:35:55

Maremia - we could be asking a lot more questions - and fully entitled to answers on them. eg it needs explaining why some Palestinian doctors are still being held in jails and what that "yellow line" business is supposed to be about.

I think we've comprehensively said just what we think of just why many Palestinians are so thin - ie gobsmacking "answers" back of "Because they're a thin race". Hopefully that little nugget won't surface again - as that one was such an insult to our intelligence expecting us to believe that one (I was thinking "There's quite a few of us on here that are obviously intelligent - and we're being told that!!!!!!!" Wow!).

But - yep:
- what about the Palestinian doctors still in jail?
- what about the "reason" for that yellow line dividing off about half of Gaza?

There's loads of questions that need answering and these are just the first two that come to my mind...

Admits I've been gobsmacked at just how many lies we're being told to justify what the IDF was/is up to. It does feel insulting to be lied to so much by the IDF and their supporters....even if one can reverse it straight around into "What does that say about them - to tell us such obvious lies?"

foxie48 Sun 19-Oct-25 10:37:47

It's impossible for anyone here to know what is really happening in Gaza as there are no completely independent journalists allowed in. News gets out but it's often perceived as Hamas or Israeli propaganda. I listened to a Gazan woman being interviewed about the ongoing violence in Gaza and she said that although she didn't support Hamas and wanted them out, there had to be some sort of control to stop the gangs from taking over and ATM only Hamas where there to do it. We've seen how Haiti has become completely ungovernable, I wouldn't want the same for Gaza but it could easily go that way. I also don't want the IDF going back in to continue the war.

Trump's peace plan needs a peace keeping presence to enable it to stick but there isn't one. I am most definitely not a Hamas supporter but just like the woman who was interviewed they seem the lesser of a number of evils and I genuinely hate having to say that. I am going to be very controversial. I don't think it's possible to eradicate Hamas and I can't see any long term peace for the Palestinians or Israelis without bringing them to the table. Sadly it needs outstanding diplomacy, generosity, an understanding of what is fair and just, tenacity and a massive dose of optimism and good luck and ATM I can't see an iota of evidence that any of that exists! It is deeply depressing.
