Anyone else impressed by Danny Kruger?

I think he’s wonderful. A breath of fresh air in politics. Has such gravitas. Well spoken and measured MP who left the Tories and has defected to Reform. (Son of Prue Leith).

I see him as a PM in waiting to be honest. Won’t happen of course - but I am very impressed by him.

Maremia Tue 28-Oct-25 12:50:14

What has he done to gain your admiration?

MayBee70 Tue 28-Oct-25 12:55:08

One of the reasons why I don’t watch Bake Off is because I can’t stand his mother, either.

ronib Tue 28-Oct-25 13:01:49

If and big if, Reform win in 2029, Danny Kruger will be the next PM. He will be a breath of fresh air. Although my personal preference is with Advance UK which shows no signs of life in the msm!!

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Oct-25 13:03:03

His views on women's rights are abhorrent

Maremia Tue 28-Oct-25 13:04:16

So, not loved by all.

Maremia Tue 28-Oct-25 13:09:35

Google says he is an evangelical Christian.
Against assisted suicide.
For increased immigration control.

PaynesGrey Tue 28-Oct-25 13:18:26

Fan of Gove and Braverman or anybody really at any given time. He’s a turncoat.

He thinks the only basis for a safe and successful society is marriage between men and women. He doesn’t think women should have agency over their own bodies and should stay in bad marriages.

I suspect he has a MAGA cap in his closet next to his old Etonian tie.

Wants PIP and its gateway benefits reduced. Against taxing the wealthy.

This was him on 15 July 2025:

Then there is the Reform party, which is sadly absent today. I do quite like the Reform party and I agree with its Members on lots of things, but there is a problem: they would spend money like drunken sailors. I can see what is happening and I am very worried about it—they will end up in an electoral pact with the Liberal Democrats with a joint ticket to protect welfare spending. I do not know how hon. Members feel about the anticipated alliance.

(The notion that Davey would form an alliance with Farage is ludicrous.)

John Crace on why for Danny, loyalty comes cheap:

I will never admire or vote for anyone who can't see straight through Farage. Or worse; someone who can see straight through Farage but holds his nose and jumps on the latest Farage bandwagon to further his own ambitions.

I suspect Danny may be cut from the same cloth as his mother Prue Leith (and it's not an apron) .

She has had an extraordinary career weaving through the corridors of power Don't ever mistake that fascinating woman for a cook in the kitchen; she is a born wheeler-dealer and power-broker.

(Not bad for a migrant from Africa, Nigel)

No, not the slightest bit impressed.

One of the reasons why I don’t watch Bake Off is because I can’t stand his mother, either.

Me too, she had an affair with a married man, Rayne Kruger for 13 years. No moral compass.

😆
No, I'm not a great fan of her either. Though I do like her snazzy specs. 👓
Danny K hasn't come to my attention - yet!

eazybee Tue 28-Oct-25 13:28:20

I would never vote for a turncoat who simply crosses the floor to keep his seat.
All about ME, not the party.

growstuff Tue 28-Oct-25 13:46:16

I'm puzzled. I thought the attraction of Reform was that Farage is just a "bloke" who's like ordinary people.

Sorry, but Kruger, Tice and Farage don't seem to have much to do with us common folk.

Maybe FGT could tell us what she finds so impressive about Kruger.

PaynesGrey Tue 28-Oct-25 14:30:05

He nearly got caught saying the B word on this morning's Today programme. He was explaining how Reform plan to shift civil servants out of London and dramatically reduce numbers but not wanting to say why the numbers grew so high.

We now have over half a million civil servants working for central government. It’s gone up hugely since .... I’m afraid to say, in the last 10 years.

That word you didn't want to say Danny was Brexit, something you were very much instrumental in.

Galaxy Tue 28-Oct-25 14:40:54

I am completely against assisted suicide so would agree with him on that.
He was very supportive of rosie Duffield when she was receiving abuse over her standpoint on women's rights.

PaynesGrey Tue 28-Oct-25 14:41:39

He acknowledged today that Reform was an “ill-disciplined” pirate ship led by a “buccaneering” Nigel Farage that needed to transform into a well-oiled Royal Navy battleship in order to govern successfully.

Who wrote this for him? Quentin Letts?

www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/oct/28/reform-uk-let-ministers-ignore-international-law-danny-kruger

We know what happens when Farage clashes with his own party members.

Unless this is all part of Farage's exit strategy - or he's about to have his collar felt over Nathan Gill. There has to be a reason why the media is mostly silent on the Gill story.

Galaxy Tue 28-Oct-25 14:43:22

However, I don't think absorbing disgruntled Tories is the best strategic move for reform.

Oh, what's wrong with Prue?

I always think I'd like to be 'a bit more Prue' in the way I dress.
I'm too conservative (with a small c).

Allira Tue 28-Oct-25 14:53:37

I had no idea about all these stories about Prue!

Oh goodness, I really must keep up and read the gossip columns, could some of you let me know where you find all this kibd of information please?

Daily Mail perhaps?

IOMGran Tue 28-Oct-25 15:01:06

No, can't stand Kruger. Mind you I don't like all of Reform and most of the Tory party so there you go.

Bukkie Tue 28-Oct-25 15:01:28

Allira - I don't know anything about Prue either. I just love her super glasses ever week and wish I could afford several pairs too. I would have accepted anyone over the insufferable, hideous Mary Berry on GBBO. I have to turn the television off when she appears.

Galaxy Tue 28-Oct-25 15:07:23

I have just had a look at the info about prue leith, she was 21 when that affair started, he was a friend of the family and 20 years older than her, I am not sure she should be the one receiving the most judgement.

MayBee70 Tue 28-Oct-25 15:08:51

Prue was a brexiter who’s now moaning about the drop in food standards and the way farmers have been treated because of it.

PaynesGrey Tue 28-Oct-25 15:09:53

Kruger's talking about bringing in a lot of people from outside Parliament as political appointments to the House of Lords. It's the only way Reform could get any controversial legislation passed.

But they will come up against the House of Lords Appointment Committee which currently has a number of members who could make that very difficult for them not least chair Baroness Deech and Wayne Reynolds. No prizes for guessing why loudmouth Sarah Pochin and the rest of them should wind their necks in over diversity, equality and inclusion:

lordsappointments.independent.gov.uk/commissionerbiographies

Anyway, pleased to see the latest YouGov poll shows support for Reform is waning and Green support growing. Lib Dem have Kruger's seat as a target for 2029. Who knows how his supporters view his defection? In 2024, his vote share had already dropped 30% from 2019.
