How any woman could support that vile creature is way beyond me.
It's attitudes towards women's rights - apparently, we shouldn't have a say in what happens to our own bodies - ''must ask our husbands ... or any male we might live with permission before we even take a wee,'' type of attitude, etc., etc., and its attitude towards the LGBTQ community are both utterly twisted.
I refuse point-blank to have anything to do with it.

Anyone else impressed by Danny Kruger?
(205 Posts)What does he say about BlueBelle?
It seems a strange thing , this adultion of these men. Johnston, Farage, Trump and now this one. They don't seem to regard females as equal and certainly 2 out of the 4 hold objectionable ableist and racist views.
What lies beneath it?
I’m a subservient, gullible little twerp perhaps? 🤷♀️
I think you are having us on, Fried, and it's working.

He speaks very highly of her, I understand.
(Not that I'd heard of him either!)
Classic "dog whistle" behaviour, usually intentional and increasingly utilised by certain political parties.
"Dog whistle" behaviour was added to Merriam- Webster dictionary in 2017 (after Brexit referendum) and has been defined as "an expression or statement that has a secondary meaning, intended to be understood only by a particular group of people". It's deliberately coded so there can be plausible deniability when/if challenged by those who don't get or buy into the discrimatory message ( e.g. Sarah Paochin, Katie Lam and Farage this last week...). For example, Kemi Badenoch comes in after Lam and stated Lam spoke "imprecisely". Sarah Poaching went on X after she made her comments and said her earlier comments that day "were phrased poorly and I unreservedly apologise for any offence caused which was not my intention".
It is a calculated tactic used to manipulate and stoke prejudice in others. Often deployed with the aim to spread and amplify racism, sexism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, homophobia and other antagonistic attitudes towards marginalised groups.
Trump is a master dog whistler as are his acolytes. Look to USA- do we want that here in UK?

Impressed? I am disgusted by him. His views and mine are totally opposite. Today he shared his admiration for the way Trump ‘runs’ the US. We don’t need Danny Kruger.
I like Trump. And Kruger. I make no apology.
You do not surprise me.

Well, to be fair, GG13, I know that FGT is your friend but I feel that many posters are finding it a real struggle to understand what attracts her to these very dubious men.
I didn’t report IOMGran’s post.

I don’t understand why people like most politicians 🤷♀️
I have never let politics get in the way of any friendships.
dear me, Hamas supporting /LGBT supporting. That's absolutely awful.

If someone admires another person who is hell bent of oppressing others why should I not assume they are similar. I am very happy with equality, I support women's bodily autonomy and gay rights, plus I very much want the option to check out painlessly should I end up in the terrible situation my mum did. So I have zero time for people who want to oppress.
No one supports a politician without also supporting their politics.
Otherwise that would be a very weird situation!
I think it’s possible to respect a politician’s integrity and sincerity without agreeing with their politics, but that comes with long term knowledge of their behaviour and actions. For me, Ken Clarke would come into that category, but he’s just an example of always speaking up for what he felt was right, not being afraid of upsetting his colleagues when he thought people would be badly affected by their actions, etc. I don’t believe Danny Kruger has earned respect.
Yes , Casdon , time was when you could admire a politician but not their policitics.
There seemed to some decency there.
Now extreme right wing people with hideous views are to be marveled at because they sound ( in some cases ) articulate.
Trump, Farage,Kruger....something else. Nothing wonderful there I'm afraid.

Is there something wrong mentally, or intellectually with this man?
See the graphic from StoneofDestiny upthread.
More on that.
Reform UK has come under fire after MP Danny Kruger railed against “LGBT-supporting” political parties. (The Independent)
Leader Nigel Farage has been urged to condemn the “disgraceful and completely unacceptable” remarks.
Mr Kruger, who defected from the Conservative Party to Reform last month, said in a video that Mr Farage’s party is “up against Lib Dems, Labour, Greens, we’ve got the nationalists of Wales and Scotland, there’s Corbyn”.
He added: “There’s this whole kaleidoscope of left-wing parties now. And, you know, that shows how bad things are in our country.
“What I worry about is they’re going to get together after the next election and have some sort of appalling Hamas-supporting, LGBT-supporting nationalist party against the United Kingdom, trying to get us back into the EU.
“All the things that the British people have rejected time and again.”
I’ll leave aside “Hamas-supporting” because we all know what he’s implying.
Exactly when did the “British people” reject LGBT and the EU “time and time again”?
Nine years ago, we had what should have been a non-binding referendum, which Leave won with a slim majority of 1.27 million. The biggest demographic in favour of Brexit was old people who voted 64:36 to leave, compared to young people who voted 71:29 to remain.
Over 600,00 people die each year, most of them old. By the time we left the EU in 2020, 1.8 million old people had died, 64% of which is 1.2 million. In other words, by the time we left the EU, the Brexit majority had been wiped out.
By 2029, 13 years on, some 8 million older voters will have died, replaced by younger voters, a generation which holds very different values to that of its grandparents, not least on Europe and LGBT.
Danny Kruger does not speak for “British people”. He speaks for his own bigoted, regressive views and those of the tribe he had now adopted.
Whatever the polls say about Reform - latest polling 27% - that still means that 73% of people don’t want them.
I urge people to read the Byline Times. This is a very good critique of Kruger’s weird, contradictory beliefs:
bylinetimes.com/2024/02/22/fighting-the-enlightenment-what-do-danny-krugers-new-conservatives-really-want/
You only have to look at the people who support Reform financially to realise that they don’t have the interest of the British people ( or the environment) at heart. Why can’t their supporters see that?
