I'd forgotten the "Times of India" YouTube channel.

Just watched a really positive bit of news about the Palestine situation on there.

I'm quite loyal to the BBC. It means something to me, after first listening to it during world war two, sitting very close to our old crackling radio in the kitchen. I was hooked on the news from an early age.
I'm still mainly BBC for the news, but I do dip into others now and then, not every day.
Channel 5 at 5 pm, channel 4 in the evening sometimes, ITV news at 10, especially if it's Tom Bradby whom I like.
And Al Jazeera occasionally.

^No news channel is unbiased^
Agreed.

I think certain journalists try their best to be unbiased and I do think Lyse Doucet aims to be so but some have accused even her of bias.

Cannot argue with this.

This darn not being able to alter posts thing again...

....meant to say Democracy Now is an American channel - by Amy Goodman. She doesn't seem to have any particular bias from what I can see.

I also often watch the Al Jazeera English channel pretty often. One I like is Democracy Now. India Now isn't a bad channel either.

I tend to think that - between the three of them - I should be able to figure out the truth of what is happening in the world today pretty much.

I do get so fed-up with all the bias on so many channels and don't think a few moneyed people owning a lot of the mass media should get to tell the rest of us what to think.

Still got my eye out for suitable English language channels from the more modern (imo) countries - Scandinavian, Dutch, German.

As I recall - from decades back now - one could watch tv news in English in Denmark and Holland - so I keep thinking "They must have YouTube channels in English".

I flick from one to another. BBC gives a list of major news items, then GBnews goes into greater detail.

I don’t favour one really, as I think that is the best way of getting biased reporting, particularly when it’s a media outlet which aligns itself to a particular viewpoint, because that makes you biased too. I watch, listen to and read as widely as I can. One of the most reliable is Reuters.

GB News. It's the most informative and has a wide range of stories. The presenters especially Patrick Christy on an evening are brilliant.

GBNews has lost a total of £100million since it started.

Many would be advertisers either avoid or have pulled out of advertising like Ikea and M&S because of the content of the programmes.

I have tried but it is so amateurish.

I get my news on line, I read the Guardian, and watch a wide variety of news channels including from Europe.

I thought it doubles up as the Reform PR department! wink

I don’t watch gb news, but do watch and listen to most of the rest especially ch4, itv, Sky and Al Jazeera which reports in more detail on the Gaza/ West Bank /Israel war. I have been a big fan of bbc for years, but disappointed with their lack of reporting, especially on TV, of the ongoing situation there and never mention the many thousands who regularly protest peacefully on the streets of London and other cities. The most recent was said to be nye on half a million people. As far as I know, not a peep from the bbc. Not even on the local news.

GB News seems to attract a lot of complaints. Some are upheld.

Not sure about that but they also win a lot of awards for Best News Channel, best presenters, Investigative work etc.

I get the Kyiv daily to my inbox. Sometimes a difficult read.

It’s not so much bias as what they report and what they leave out. Surprisingly enough I think the Australian news is better than the British.

Primrose53 Wed 29-Oct-25 10:56:08

I flick through several but prefer GB News. They have a wide range of guests including MPs from ALL parties and supporters of all parties. They allow all guests to speak freely. They often get the latest news before other channels.

I tend to do them all too now that I have more time on my hands, there’s always a slant on each one!

growstuff Wed 29-Oct-25 09:45:20

None.

No news channel is unbiased. If I'm interested in a particular story, I'll compare four or five different channels.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 29-Oct-25 09:45:12

Al Jazeera is state funded by the Qatari Government, not sure they are unbiased.

I tend to go between Sky, BBC and ITV.

Shinamae Wed 29-Oct-25 09:31:00

GB News for me…
Love the presenters and despite what other people say it is a balanced news program giving points of view from different people on different subjects….
Some very interesting debates…

Cossy Wed 29-Oct-25 09:20:34

I favour Al Jazeera. I find it as factual and unbiased as it can be, and reports on many, many different topics which don’t seem to reach our own news channels.

I wonder which news outlets you all prefer and why?

I do dip in and out of other sources too.
