The BBC. Bias is one thing. Lies and manipulation of facts entirely different.

Whereas, one can choose which newspaper one buys.
You can tell this ‘edit’ manipulation of what Trump said/HAMAS propaganda etc wasn’t done by GBNews!

Shocked?
I am.

One can choose which news site one watches. I start off with BBC news and then switch to Sky and GBnews. On GBnews, people are allowed to actually answer questions unlike the other channels which conduct an interrogation rather than an interview.
Surely the BBC has committed an offence by this breach? The media seem to be getting away with so much these days.

I think it’s time to abolish the licence fee and make it compete for business.

I'm not getting this? Can someone tell me what it's about?

No idea...

Shall we leave them to it?

If anyone wants to know. It's been quite prominently discussed in some areas.

If you read the link I've given you can find out, but maybe you're just not interested?

People died that day. And Trump has let the perpetrators out of prison. So, to be honest, I don’t think anyone should defend him over this. He could have stopped it happening and he didn’t. Nothing about his character or anything he has done since makes me think he didn’t want it to happen.

Rosie51 Thu 06-Nov-25 17:05:36

MayBee70 is anyone defending Trump over the riots and his subsequent pardons? The BBC's deceptive editing that spliced two sentences together that were 50 minutes apart is not truthful or honourable. Trump doesn't need his words (or actions) manipulated to show him for what he is, which many of us despise. The BBC have been exposed in this case, how many other times has an editor taken it upon themself to manipulate and lie? Would you feel differently if it was someone you admired whose words had been similarly manipulated to say what they hadn't?

Magenta8 Thu 06-Nov-25 17:06:02

Thanks for the link Rosie51 I read the report and I agree that it is very concerning that the BBC which is supposed to be truthful and unbiased and openly prides itself on being so, has been shown to distort facts.

However, the report does not in any way alter my opinion of Donald Trump, I still think he is a dangerous lunatic and I still think the Israeli army is guilty of crimes against humanity.

Perhaps I should add that I think Hamas are also guilty of crimes against humanity and that the suffering of the Israelis has been downplayed in the media generally.

Maremia Thu 06-Nov-25 17:24:09

Did he say the words that have been reported?
Did he do anything to stop the riot?
Was he watching it unfold on TV?
Did he ignore his VP Mike Pence's please for help against actual harm?

Just not by the BBC! 😂
Surprised?
No.

StripeyGran Thu 06-Nov-25 17:29:56

Oh what a load of nonsense. Trump? Really?

The hater of women, disabled people, people of colour.

What on earth is wrong with people who value his contribution at all?

petra Thu 06-Nov-25 17:30:16

If the bbc can lie about the late queen nobody is safe.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 06-Nov-25 17:33:53

It’s not just about Trump!
It’s the bias of the BBC writ large (and found out).
A whistleblower came forward to the embarrassment of the BBC.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 06-Nov-25 17:35:50

Oh dear.

BBC forced to withdraw ‘thoroughly wrong’ racism allegations
Corporation’s ‘Verify’ service published a report with ‘multiple serious editorial problems’, leaked internal memo finds.

Galaxy Thu 06-Nov-25 17:37:27

Sorry are we now saying it is ok for the BBC to manipulate reporting? How are they any different to Trump if that is the case. It isn't just about Trump anyway, the bias allegedly covers various issues including their reporting of women's rights ( no surprise there).

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 06-Nov-25 17:45:16

The BBC brand is tarnished now. Not to be forgotten that Marianna Spring was caught lying on her CV. Clearly, she didn't ‘Verify’ her own work.

StripeyGran Thu 06-Nov-25 17:50:01

Take it easy FGT.

Never mind.

Things come and go,

Apparently so Galaxy provided they manipulate reporting about people or situations we dislike or disapprove of. The fact that Trump condemns himself out of his own mouth without the need to deceptively 'gild the lily' seems not to matter.

Deception is deception and can only engender suspicion of the organisation and other areas where similar practice may have been employed.

You don't mind that the BBC and its world reputation can be tarnished and brought into disrepute?

When I catch someone lying or trying to manipulate me I tend to be very wary of them in all situations. Deceptive editing is lying.

Maremia Thu 06-Nov-25 18:34:54

Well then, if that's the criteria, falsifying the news, then Trump is more tarnished than the BBC
Or does it depend on who is doing the lying?
If you condemn the BBC, for fake news, then logically, you must also condemn Trump, bigly.

Galaxy Thu 06-Nov-25 18:36:45

I would have at one stage hoped that the BBC was of a higher standard than Trump, but obviously I don't hold that viewpoint now.

Maremia Thu 06-Nov-25 18:38:54

How often have they 'told lies'?
All the time, like Trump?
