Concerned Citizens Urge Migrants to Jump from Hotel Windows

On Halloween, “concerned citizens” in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, shot fireworks at a hotel housing asylum seekers and encouraged residents to commit suicide during a protest. Flanked by Britain First posters, anti-migrant protesters spouted Islamophobic hate and abuse at police officers outside the Cresta Court Hotel.

There you go, in the name of God what have we become?

Well I m ashamed of my country and its flag flying misogamist, racist leaders
We haven’t become anything Stripeygran but we are allowing a vocal group of Far Right supporters turn the country into a screaming, shouting, hateful country led by mob mentality

A vocal group and a lot of people hanging on their coat tails.

I can't find anything about this in any news media. Was it reported locally?

We just had a lovely international lunch. If nothing else the food from all the different countries is so very good- a lovely incidental from all the different races bringing their delicious dishes when they come here from all over the world.

The firework incident was reported in the Telegraph, in the News Bulletin, on November 7th and there was a more full account plus photographs in Latest, which is constantly updated therefore not accessible later.
Would the Pro-Palestinian groups outside the football match at Aston Villa, also Thursday night, also be described as Far-Right Supporters, or Far-left?
Or simply a mob?

We’ve had two years of mainly far left amongst others, allowing a vocal group turning the country into a shouting hateful mob every Saturday causing annoyance to passersby, shoppers and causing rising antisemitism.🤬

Just to add that anyone yelling hate messages, including those who try and scare migrants in hotels are way out of order.
But if you allow the divisive marches then you have to allow groups to protest about migrants and hotels.

Thankyou, eazybee.

When I tried searching for any news items I had nothing returned.

No need for hyperbole, Oreo. The 'country' hasn't been turned into anything. What you describe has happened in some places, it's not universal.

I was referencing the words in this post MaizieD and yes it’s hyperbole.

Horrible situation for anyone regardless of why they were in the hotel.
And this kind of hatred is not uncommon sadly, fuelled by the far right and their keyboard warriors.

Babs03 Mon 10-Nov-25 13:38:55

Thanks for the post Stripey Gran.

But you do have to remember that there really are concerned residents where migrant hotels are in towns, nobody wants them there.
Shouting and yelling, and being aggressive are a no -no tho.

StripeyGran Mon 10-Nov-25 14:21:37

Oreo, I am a concerned resident but I don't urge people to end their lives and throw fireworks at them.

Babs03 Mon 10-Nov-25 14:41:23

Being concerned about a political issue is one thing, being part of a lynch mob is very much another.
Targeting any group of people with no agency for gross political incompetence over several decades is like throwing fireworks at those who are homeless.
And of course the government can carry on being incompetent knowing there are scapegoats for the public to blame.
Totally pointless.

Allira Mon 10-Nov-25 15:07:10

Was this here or in Dublin?
I did hear reports of this happening at a hotel housing asylum seekers in Dublin a couple of weeks ago but not in England.

Your lunch sounded lovely nanna8. How it should be.

Maremia Mon 10-Nov-25 15:15:40

That's quite an escalation of racist hatred. Stripey. A very worrying trend.

M0nica Mon 10-Nov-25 15:54:21

67 million people in the country, a couple of hundred demonstrate, so what?

StripeyGran Mon 10-Nov-25 16:05:53

I don't suppose it was " so what " from the residents or the police.

Neither do I. That’s nice isn’t it, we agree on something.
