There are newly released e-mails, which implicate the big beast. Time to watch and wait I think.

How he says he will "Make the US great again"

And yet the greatness of the US was based in values he is smashing up. 🥲

Who has been banned? I must have missed that.

Iam64

My American friend has lived in England forty years but has family and friends in the USA. She’s active in the Democrats Abroad group. She shares the view that Trump is dementing.

I’m not sure he has ‘lost the plot, lost the filter which stops politicians voicing their inner most thoughts’. I’ll be relieved if I’m wrong, but my feeling is his egocentric, narcissistic personality (disorder) is being fed by the psycho thanks around him. He knows no fear. He is The Trumpster, he can and will do exactly as he pleases
It’s terrifying. No one challenges him. He’s a nasty, bullying man with no decent moral code

At the very least Trump exhibits very challenging behaviour. I would not wish to live with someone so disinhibited; I imagine it's extremely uncomfortable.

He has also shown a high level of risk-taking behaviour ending in the bankruptcy af multiple businesses.

Then there's his goal-directed behaviour, another issue that doesn't seem under control. Add to that his grandiose thinking and heightened sense of capability or importance and anyone else would be under a psychiatrist long ago.

StripeyGran and Growstuff to my knowledge.

Thank you Cariad

foxie48 Sat 22-Nov-25 11:53:05

Wow, I'd completely missed that, what on earth is going on? Both are capable of being "direct" but I've never seen anything that would warrant a ban. Hopefully it's temporary.

CariadAgain Sat 22-Nov-25 14:13:53

I've never noticed any post by anyone yet that warranted a ban (eg spam, child porn or similar). It seems to have been just for someone having a different personal opinion to someone else and deciding to report them for that as far as I can see.

Maybe we ought to start by making it plain "I've never asked for someone to be banned" or "I have asked for someone to be banned - but the reason was spam/child porn/illegal/other valid reasons" and putting ourselves in the clear as non-censors.

I've done so - I've stated I've never requested anyone be banned yet. I think it would be worth the rest of us doing so and then we can see if someone is NOT stating that.

Bloomberg has been a wealth of information this week.

About those redacted Epstein files. confused

"The FBI paid personnel from various divisions, including counterintelligence and international operations, $851,344 in overtime for working on the Epstein files between March 17 and March 22, according to the documents. FBI personnel clocked in a total of 4,737 hours of overtime between January and July. Of that, more than 70% occurred during the month of March while personnel reviewed the Epstein files, the documents show."

That is just a bit suspicious, isn't it. Sounds like a clean up job to me, Imaround but it also means that lots of people have seen lots of things that might come out at some point. Here's hoping. The best way of burying the truth is getting rid of those who know the truth and the more that know, the more the bodies get piled up! I think, eventually, the truth will out!

Wyllow3 Thu 27-Nov-25 20:25:12

Heck - the amount of time and money to see what can be redacted.

BTW, anyone seen the BBC series

Civilizations: Rise and Fall | BBC Documentaries.

They were the greatest civilizations in history. Each believed they would live on forever. But each suffered a devastating decline

I've watched the first and its interesting as I believe the US empire will "fall" in the end and the programmes give a clue as to "Why" 🙂

imaround Thu 27-Nov-25 21:36:28

I had really hoped the US would "fall" after I was long gone, but here we are. I just hope that we don't lose everything on the way down.

foxie48 Fri 28-Nov-25 08:28:15

I listened to the US the rest is politics , The mistakes that led to Trump. They discuss trade policies and the effect on living standards and employment in the US over a period of time from the Bretton woods agreement to the present time. It explains a great deal and is worth listening to.

What led to Trump is the adoption of neoliberal economic theory, of which trade is just a part. It is what is inexorably leading to Farage here in the UK and the right wing parties in Europe. None of them will have any solutions (as Trump is showing us now)

I suggest you start preparing your grandchildren for poverty and hardship. That will be inevitable unless you have a substantial financial buffer to pass on to them.

Casdon Fri 28-Nov-25 10:49:09

That’s a very simplistic, purely economic argument MaizieD. The reasons are much more complex than just that.

foxie48 Fri 28-Nov-25 11:21:33

Not everyone knows as much about economics as other people do and this discussion is an accessible podcast that might help to inform people that are interested to know more. So many people ask the question, why do people vote for Trump? This provides a few possible answers. You don't have to listen to it MaizieD

Maremia Fri 28-Nov-25 14:43:13

Some folk admit, on camera, that they voted for Trump because he allows them to be racist.
Some folk found it impossible to vote for a woman, who was black.
Facebook and YouTube.

There has to be a reason why quite often the very people that need a socially aware government are the very ones that vote for politicians that take away their benefits and health care sad.

every empire falls in the end. "The Green History of the World" made that very plain/explained in detail why there's been several collapses before now and ours will too. By Clive Pontin (ex civil servant). I'm not one for being interested in history basically - but I did read that one and it made a lot of sense.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving in the US. A day to be thankful and gracious and kind, and to celebrate the year we are completing and preparing for the new one to come.

shock

foxie48 Fri 28-Nov-25 18:55:56

OMG, the man is completely off his head! What a dreadful, divisive and appalling thing to write at any time, let alone a day of national celebration. My God, this man is POTUS, it is a complete nightmare for the US.

imaround Fri 28-Nov-25 19:20:00

Every single day I wake up and hope he has finally succumbed to whatever it is that is going to get him.

Vance is hugely unpopular as well.

If you don't want to believe that current economic ideology is at the heart of the problem of people voting for simplistic 'solutions' offered by populists in the US and other countries that's fine by me.

I think the other 'reasons' rest more on the fringes and without the damage wrought by neoliberalism they would have counted for far less and the populists wouldn't have gained so much ground.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 28-Nov-25 21:36:48

Oh imaround, that is a terrible post from your " leader".
He is a truly horrible man.
Thank goodness for those representing us in Britain. I cannot imagine any Prime Minister saying such deeply unpleasant things about their citizens.

Wyllow3 Fri 28-Nov-25 22:10:19

Thank you for sharing, Imaround.

He sounds like Hitler, tbh

Completely and utterly mad.

But isn’t Badenoch’s comment about Wednesdays budget resulting in the middle classes paying more in taxes to cover those on benefits ( ie scroungers) just a watered down version of that?
