"The former leader of Reform UK in Wales has been sentenced to 10-and-a-half years in prison after admitting taking bribes for pro-Russia interviews and speeches.
Nathan Gill, 52, from Llangefni, Anglesey, is thought to have received up to £40,000 to help pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine.
He was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) when he accepted money from Oleg Voloshyn, 44, a man once described by the US government as a "pawn" of Russian secret services"

And I recall Farage et al collecting their generous wages as MEP's, doing nothing at all for our country, that moment when they, like petualnt small children, turned their backs on the EU parliament

Be very aware, we are all are defined by the company you keep, Farage. Many politicians accept gifts we ar not happy with, and som pilloried for pairs of glasses, but you, Farage, kept company with a Russian spy.

Farage is facing calls to investigate and root out links between Reform UK and Russia after one of his party’s former senior politicians was jailed for 10 years for accepting bribes from a pro-Kremlin agent.

Not a good week for Farage: he faces fresh claims of racism and antisemitism at school

"It is the hectoring tone, the “jeering quality”, in Nigel Farage’s voice today that brings it all back for Peter Ettedgui.

He would sidle up to me and growl: ‘Hitler was right,’ or ‘Gas them,’ sometimes adding a long hiss to simulate the sound of the gas showers,” Ettedgui says of his experience of being in a class with Farage at Dulwich college in south London

"My grandparents had escaped from Nazi Germany, and had always talked with deep gratitude about how they felt welcome in the UK,” he says.

*I’d never experienced antisemitism growing up, so the first time that this vicious verbal abuse came out of Farage’s mouth was deeply shocking.

But I wasn’t his only target.

I’d hear him calling other students ‘Paki’ or ‘Wog’, and urging them to ‘go home’.

I tried to ignore him, but it was humiliating. It was shaming. This kind of abuse cuts through to the core of your identity*

I don't know if GB news had many viewers who were Jewish, but surely Farage's frequent appearances will be seen in a different light?

Maremia Sat 29-Nov-25 09:24:43

Another post on Facebook, but nothing else to support it, claims that GB News is losing support because of their undiluted support of Farage.

Maremia Sat 29-Nov-25 09:23:06

Facebook is punting a petition to investigate the Russian links, and it has reached 900,000 signatures.

Maremia Fri 28-Nov-25 17:40:29

Keep digging!

Maremia Fri 28-Nov-25 17:40:17

He has been named in a series of WhatsApp messages between an alleged 'pawn' of Russia's main security agency and disgraced former MEP Nathan Gill.

Maremia Fri 28-Nov-25 17:38:35

I know this Thread has dropped, but here's a wee update on the company Farage has kept.
Ex-BREXIT Party and UKIP politician denies taking pro-Russian payments. He was also Scotland's UKIP leader.
His name is David Coburn. I think he lives in France just now. Such a patriot.

Maremia Thu 27-Nov-25 09:50:45

For people who excuse Farage's schoolboy racism by saying he was only a teenager, didn't the same Farage say that Shamima Begum, at age 15, was old enough to know what she was doing when she became an ISIS bride?

nanna8 Thu 27-Nov-25 00:57:58

A barrage of Farage. Getting boring really and just gives him more and more traction and things to talk about. And he is a damn good talker.

Wyllow3 Thu 27-Nov-25 00:28:59

Well I'm not sure he has really ever revealed full policy alternatives on the budget and economic measures. Reorm really hasn't ever laid out a comprehensive policy just vague headlines.
Recently he backtracked on tax cuts,

since the amount he was promising -*90 billion* - would basically take out the NHS and much social care and he twigged that might not go down well with some voters.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 26-Nov-25 23:28:52

He had nothing to say about the budget. I wonder how long he reckons he needs to keep his rascist head down before he feels safe to reappear?

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Nov-25 21:53:49

Has it appeared in GB "news"?

MayBee70 Wed 26-Nov-25 21:02:23

I believe that Ch4 News wanted to interview him tonight but he declined. Funny that because usually you can’t keep him off the telly hmm

Maremia Wed 26-Nov-25 14:26:12

Would be interesting to explore the notion that 'Farage is doing well'. What exactly has he ever done well?
Topping the polls isn't actually doing anything.

Maremia Wed 26-Nov-25 14:24:17

Apparently, Starmer has asked Farage to apologise to the people he has bullied and racially abused.
Anyone holding their breath?

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Nov-25 14:06:10

It's not a sort of tactical move Primrose, as in "Farage is doing well, lets find something to knock him with"

Its concern for a Trump-like UK, a real genuine concern, indeed fear: and also the knowledge that Reform simply do not have enough experienced politicians capable of running the government.

Just because you agree ideologically with Farage does not and cannot give you the experience necessary to run a whole country - it's appalling to think what a large group of totally inexperienced MP's could do.

Look what has happened in local councils - the claims of

"oh we will change everything has floundered at the first shot of reality of the huge general social needs bills and the practicalities of already stretched budgets and elderly people already not getting enough help"

and finding the apparent huge budgets apparently spending on multicultural projects simply didnt exist as claimed at the election -

Worcestershire County Council is a reform-minded council that is currently consulting on a potential 10% council tax increase for 2026/27!

for goodness sake......

Whitewavemark2 Wed 26-Nov-25 13:53:41

As this is a thread about the company that Farage keeps, I do think that the very serious issue of spying for Russia needs to be addressed and the Reform leader in Wales, who is now serving 10 years for being a traitor to his country.

Nathan Gill

Farage publically spoken pro-Russian/Putin rhetoric undoubtedly attracted people like Gill, and I think it is time this was looked at much closer by the media and security services.

Farage is saying “one bad apple” but as someone said that is what the media told us when the hacking scandal was first revealed.

We know that Russia interfered during Brexit, and it continues to interfere in the EU trying to destroy the trading community.

Close scrutiny needs to be carried out.

Allira Wed 26-Nov-25 13:40:32

Surely Farage has made many anti-semitic and Islamaphobic comments in the years since then, many well-documented, without resorting to what he supposedly said when he was a child?
Many people may have done or said things when they were children of which they might look back in horror and feel ashamed as adults.

Some do continue and it is their behaviour as adults we should be concerned about. We all know what he's like now!

With Farage we are talking about nearly 50 years ago! I kept old letters from boyfriends and some of the stuff they wrote at the time would be deemed racist now. These were well educated grammar school boys and college students but they thought those sort of jokes were funny then.

Old comedy series on TV now issue a warning at the beginning about offensive language etc which was acceptable at the time. Man About The House, Rising Damp, Love Thy Neighbour, Only Fools And Horses ….. all have these warnings.

I agree with eazybee why drag this up now. Obviously because Reform are doing much better than Labour.

We are not talking about the 1960s/early 70s

Farage is only 62 - this is about his time at Dulwich Upper school in the 1980s

That type of behaviour was totally unacceptable in the 1980s - especially antisemitism

So, if he was born in 1963, he must have been quite an old schoolboy in the 1980s?
He surely must have left by 1981?

Not that I am defending him at all, I'm just confused. I left school about the time he was born but my Maths is not that shaky, is it?

petra Wed 26-Nov-25 13:21:42

Now he is saying that he didn't mean to hurt anyone.
Hope they keep digging, and investigating and then charging.

I can’t see a court case coming out of this.
The teacher who wrote the letter told Michael Crick that she has no recollection of the letter.
Added to that she never taught Farage and claims all the allegations came from common room conversations.
The above was told to Michael Crick ( ex channel 4 journalist)

AGAA4 Wed 26-Nov-25 11:52:11

I can easily believe the Jewish man and some others who confirm that Farage bullied him because he was Jewish.
Every time Mr Ettedgui answered a question in class Farage was heard to say "Jew" apart from all the other anti-Semitic things he said.
I don't believe that Farage has changed.
Mr Ettedgui has spoken out now as he is afraid that Farage may become the PM.

MollyNew Wed 26-Nov-25 10:59:42

Perpetrators never seem to have any recollection of their abusive behaviour. Sadly the victims always have very clear memories as they remain traumatised and it can take many years for them to talk about it.

Farage says people are talking about a time when he was a young teenager but it seems to have continued throughout his school years. If he no longer holds the same views as he did as a young person, he could say so and apologise but of course he can't.

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Nov-25 21:48:43

This was not casual, ignorant racism though, Primrose.

It was bullying, and malicious, and targeted, hitting gas sounds in ears, *deliberately choosing Jewish boys whose family had a history including death in gas chambers

This why I am "making a fuss".

Leopards like that, don't change their spots

Cold Tue 25-Nov-25 21:25:09

*sorry - Farage is 61

But he has channelled those early racist ideas into every political organisation he has ever been involved with. And that now seems to include a party that might form the next government of this country.
