He was born in Cairo and only acquired British citizenship relatively recently at the age of 40.

Fancythat- well he's back now because there was cross party lobbying for his release over some years. Plus the UN investigated and found that his Egyptian conviction/imprisonment was a breach of international law- for which he served 12 years.

There is no uk time limit on police investigating historical race hate if deemed sufficiently serious. I would advocate a CROSS PARTY debate whether such a police investigation is desirable/necessary/ and in the public interest for the 2012 tweets in the context of him serving 12 years in Egypt prison in circumstances found to have breached international law. That would be interesting.....

Yes Allira. Starmer wasn’t PM in 2021, though, he is now dealing with somebody who is a British citizen. Whether somebody’s rights to be rescued from jail in a military dictatorship or not should depend on their crimes should be what is questioned - but whilst the policy is to rescue our citizens who have smuggled drugs, committed murders etc. from those regimes, this case is no different.

Hundreds of people have had their UK citizenship revoked.
As his is relatively new and controversial, it should have been easy to do so.

There is more going on here than we are being told.

Casdon- I agree. Were the Conservative Party aware of the 2012 tweet "crimes" when lobbying over the years and granting UK citizenship? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and accept not. Would be nice also, in reciprocation the C Paryy and others gives the Labour Party the same benefit of the doubt....

Depends if they are an enemy of the state, ie the UK.

Maremia- I agree it's blatantly biased reporting by DM and in my view, shows Jenryk, Badenoch and Farage in a poor light also.

Allira- I agree there could be more going on here than we are being told. National security rather than between party political point scoring take precedence. Hence why I suggested cross party debate what is in public interest etc and whether police investigation warranted to gather evidence to support revoking UK citizenship- IF that is in the public interest.

I would expect that the current PM and previous Conservative PMs would be and would have been briefed by the UK Security
Services on a need to know basis of background facts and risks of which we may not be aware.

We probably have no choice but to accept him back here as he has a British passport but nobody needed to lobby for his release or now say how wonderful it is that he’s here again.
Anyone who calls for the death of our police and calls UK citizens dogs and monkeys and is a massive hater of Jews should never be welcomed here and I hope the intelligence services keep a strict eye on him.
