No I really don’t think I can be bothered Casdon.
The Telegraph is as reliable as any other paper regarding the news and the standard of their journalism is just the same as it’s ever been, ditto The Times.
Should we all only be reading The Guardian and The Mirror as they are left wing biased?
I haven’t made this up, look it up for yourself Oreo, ‘Quality of journalism Telegraph’ provides a good overview.
I would still like you to justify your comments about me please, I think what you said was right out of order.
I don’t justify myself to anyone, I simply asked a question.
You need to stop implying that other people hold extreme views Oreo. You can’t justify doing that, none of us can.
Last word from me on this….I haven’t said that you or anyone else holds extreme views Casdon those are your words and not mine.
Anyway, this guy lives in Brighton and will be traced quickly, so I suspect he may flee, even to avoid the publicity.
Casdon
The Telegraph is well known for its ‘widespread puzzlement’ at anything the current government does. Perhaps it needs to employ some more erudite reporters?
It is risible to argue, for example, that the law granted el-Fattah citizenship, not the then-home secretary. That is the whole point: our laws do not protect us properly, and the failure to deal with that is politicians’ failure. The responsibility and the blame lies with them.
I'm puzzled at your statement that The Telegraph is well known for its ‘widespread puzzlement’ at anything the current government does. Casdon
The Telegraph seems to put the blame here on that Tory Home Secretary and on politicians in general.
The judiciary upholds the laws but the politicians make them.
Well let us not forget Margeret Thatcher with General Pinochet. Horrible despotic little man
What was all that about?
Favours for friends?

Your words
‘Or could it be that you think any criticism by journalists about Labour or Starmer is a right wing fascist plot?’
Your implication is clear.
Has Farage, our future Prime Minister, apologised for those bullying racist attacks on his schoolmates?
Boz

Maybe, but I doubt he will have to as he knows that he’s got away with saying all those things and has political and celeb allies.
Well, to be fair, Farage has gotten away with those vile antisemitic things he said.
Both should have consequences.

Alaa Abdel Fallah was not subjected to a normal examination when applying for British citizenship because he claimed it through his mother who was born in London while her mother was studying for a PHD, one of the loopholes apparently of the Human Rights Law. He also claimed to be a prisoner of conscience, hence the cross party support. The Conservatives granted him citizenship.
Since becoming PM Starmer has avidly supported his case and welcomed him into Britain without running basic checks on his background.
Abdel has 'apologised unreservedly for his offensive racist tweets.'
This was followed however by:
"I am shaken that, just as I am being reunited with my family for the first time in 12 years, several historic tweets of mine have been republished and used to question and attack my integrity and values, escalating to calls for the revocation of my citizenship." BBC website, today.
Integrity and values?
Gratitude?I think that this is obviously a loophole which needs closing then!
Difficult one, icanhandthemback
His mother was born here when her parents were briefly here as students therefore she has dual nationality but she was brought up up Egypt where she became a professor at Cairo University and a political activist.
It would seem to be a tenuous reason for granting her son UK citizenship but, presumably, lawful.
This was changed in 1983 The requirement for a person to have a parent who is a British citizen by birth in the UK for automatic citizenship came into effect on January 1, 1983, with the implementation of the British Nationality Act 1981.

Farage didn’t write them on SM as far as I know. They were things he allegedly said so we will never know exactly what he said when a teenager.
An extremely tenuous reason for granting him citizenship isn’t it?

It is in writing though. A copy of a letter written at the time by his teacher expressing her concerns about his views is still in existence.

Many people including MP’s, and yes even Labour MP’s at times have tweeted antisemitic comments a few or many years ago.
This case of the Egyptian man granted British citizenship (why?) at age 40 has had successive governments and celebs rooting for him when he has written he hates white people especially British, Dutch and German ones, hates Zionists and Jews and called the British (us) dogs and monkeys.
Yvette Cooper now saying nobody knew!! Not even the FO apparently, does Frank Spencer run things there?

Every Labour/Starmer negative headline, along with what appears to be previous cross party support for this abhorrent man and his vile tweets pushes the U.K. closer to a hung parliament next GE or even a Reform Government.
This is sort of what bothers me most.
Who is really protecting the Uk?
No one?
It doesn’t help that the news media seem to ask Farage and Tice for their opinion on everything, as if they are a government in waiting. I’m sure that we’re much safer with a Labour government than we would ever be with a ( heaven help us) Reform one.

There are just five Reform MPs and yes, the media seems to need to ask Farage's opinion all the time.
There are 72 Lib Dem MPs but do we hear them asking for Ed Davey's opinion? Not as often.
There are just four Green MPs and we hear more from Zack Polanski than the Lib Dems too.
I want to point out that I wasn’t being discourteous to Oreo in my last comment but once again I have been blocked! Not happy
It’s my 15 minute morning slot looking on GN and I can assure you susieq62 that I neither saw your comment nor reported it.I would tell you if I had.
However it was obviously reported and deleted for a reason.
It happens to many of us from time to time and has just got to be accepted.
I think the media court Nigel Farage as they know he’s marmite to readers/viewers, likewise Zack Polanski. Both men have strong and controversial views.
Ed Davey is bland.
