I'm not sure why anyone posts on N&P, if we're not being told we are too emotional (hysterical is a good word, btw David49), we're told off for not posting reams of meticulously researched information, which, after all, is just someone else's opinion, not our own, or that we live elsewhere so have no right to an opinion at all.

I must be bonkers or a glutton for punishment.

The first post- Trump's social media posts on NYE not a surprise- well done Obama for interpreting and highlighting the message that Trump is increasingly becoming clinically delusional.

I watched the second video link but it felt a bit odd and had seen nothing in main stream media which would be decidedly odd in context of Trump's recent Venezuela actions.....

Or the Obama fake AI- Trump's New Year posts were true enough.

I think that what we all need to do - as none of us are immune from falling foul of believing AI, - is to check as many other sources as we can.

This can only get worse as time goes on.

Some "voice overs" are obviously AI and some video producers comment on their use of AI. Thank Willow for highlighting this with the best of intentions and Maizie for flagging her concerns.

There are a lot of YouTube videos being altered so don’t believe any of them, only take notice of sources that filter AI out. Many are biased but at least not blatantly false.

Not sure if you are aware that MSM gets much of its news from social media! All the footage we see on the news, where do you think the media got it from? The clips of the Australian shooting, the horrific fire on NYE etc etc.

Isn't that a typical male on female put-down. I suppose it's better than it used to be when women were locked away for being "hysterical". I'm imagining David feels he contributes greatly to the 5%.

This was exposed as fake two months ago by Snopes - a fact finding site similar to Full Fact.

Snopes linked to the genuine video from which the deepfake was created. It was from April 2020 of Obama in discussion with members of a youth and communities group part of the Obama Foundation.

It was a most obvious fake!

As an aside Obama isn't guilt free in regard to military ops.

He refused to step in and prevent Putin from invading Ukraine in 2014.

This was right in the middle of Obama's term and Ukraine is still paying with the unnecessary loss of
tens of thousands of civilians and military personnel.

I have a problem with this take for the simple reason that it illustrates why the UK and Europe will remain second-tier “world powers”. Looking for protection from an ocean away from threats on our own continent is what emboldened Putin in the first place. He is keenly aware we will always look to the US to “protect” us. It’s long past time that we accept that must look after ourselves. Russia, the US, and China are carving up this world for themselves. Neither Obama, nor any other US leader, is or was responsible for us.
