Bruce Springsteen - thank you.

Yes I’m beginning to understand that now.

This could turn into another anti Vietnam scenario, people will toe the line until they start getting killed and then the gloves are off.
Trump may have decided to rein in the goons for now but he tends to let things slide and then start over.

Solidarity 💪🏽

This is the one you referred to in case someone else wants to hear it.

A brilliant piece of music and lyrics

Has anyone heard of Jesse Welles?
He's been writing folk protest songs for a while.
I'll look him up...

NotSpaghetti Thu 29-Jan-26 11:26:00

It seems he's better known than I thought! grin

Here's one from last year: "Join ICE"

I don’t think that protest songs have ever gone away.

Fallingstar Thu 29-Jan-26 13:35:58

Oreo

I don’t think that protest songs have ever gone away.

I think you could be right Oreo. Have seen songs sung by Iranian singers on YouTube in protest at the what the Iranian regime have been doing, mainly when a young woman was murdered by the morality police a few years ago, but could be more now.

Bridie22 Thu 29-Jan-26 14:30:30

Go Brucie ✌️💪

Casdon Thu 29-Jan-26 15:12:21

You’re not watching YouTube regularly enough Whiewavemark2, there are new ones literally every day on there. Mr Newberger is one I watch. There are also some great Canadian ones. I’ve been following Bruce Springsteen, he always says what he thinks, which I admire him for.

62Granny Thu 29-Jan-26 15:31:00

Bruce's song will probably get more airplay but the Jesse Wells one is definitely more rousing, can't believe the crowds in the protest, we haven't seen that on the news here in the UK.

Happy Sunday Birthday WhiteWave 🎊 🥳

Emeraldforest Fri 30-Jan-26 14:00:24

Thank you for that Whitewavemark2, I don't listen to current music as much as I should,I'm 76 so I remember all the protest songs, good to know Bruce is still speaking out.

I love this one.

The Boss!! His last tour dates opened with a tirade against Trump. What a furore that caused back home ! You cant have listened to his lyrics all these years without getting an insight into the man. And now he's done it again. GO Bruce. And btw we need another tour asap❤️
