VANECAM

I bet he’s sweating now!

Oh yes!

Any sympathy I may have had for the man went out of the window after that dreadful interview.

David “How could he have been so stupid…* I believe he thought he could literally do whatever he liked, wher and when he liked and with whomever he chose.

I would used the word “stupid”, I would use words like arrogant, uncaring, predatory and even treasonous!

As for his punishment (if found guilty, of course) I think he should be driven through London, in a horse drawn open cart, wearing only his pants and a dunces hat and the general public allowed to throw rotten tomatoes at him, maybe accompanied by his favourite 25 teddies.

My DH thinks he should be beheaded at Traitors Gate then his head put onto a spike! 😱😱

I'm with your DH here. The only answer to paedophiles.

Look on the bright side.

If, because of this scandal the RF fades into insignificance, like their European cousins, it will be much better for Prince George in the future.
I would like to see those children have a normal, upper-class of course, life.

I really don't think the Royal Family has done itself any favours over the whole Trade Envoy/Epstein debacle.

It was pretty obvious that he abused his position once it was revealed he was adding extra days on to official visits in order to swan about playing golf or mucking around on some oligarch's yacht. Yet his family and ergo the government turned a blind eye to it all.

And even if there's a case for them not knowing about his sordid friendship with Epstein until it all became public, they still were only reactive - I suppose the King has been tougher than his Mother ever would have been, but it's all been a bit too little, too late.

Actually I don’t think any of this is funny or a laughing matter. For example, in 2008 when this country was facing huge financial problems, it’s alleged that A was leaking confidential information that could have undermined the steps our Govt was taking to try and mitigate the situation. Some of us might that this could at least morally be called treason.

I don’t agree, “the whole thing is awful”, I’m actually glad that this illustrates that “no one is above the law”

To have arrested him so publicly the police and CPS must have shedloads of evidence to have taken this step.

It’s his victims and his poor daughters whom I pity, not him and not his ex-wife, whom I actually quite like. They are both abhorrent.

This is nothing to do with JE’s victims. The arrest is to do with his sending secret and confidential information to JE ( and possibly others). If anyone’s the victims in this scenario it’s us. He was in public office on behalf of us

Do you have inside information TulipTree?

I think he is in it up to his non sweaty armpits.

I hope he is arrested and charged on all counts, I hope his stupid wife and greedy daughters have to answer questions too.

Tuliptree I am able to read and understand, I do know WHY he’s been arrested, however I can also feel sorry for any victims with whom he was involved via JE and his poor daughters. smile
We’re the victims. Not his daughters”

Sorry, but I disagree, I feel very sorry for his daughters, to have a predatory, traitorous, lying father is bad enough, and a manipulative lying mother too, but to have this all unfolding publicly, not just in this country, but worldwide, must be utterly atrocious for Eugenie and Beatrice.

I do not feel victimised or a victim of any of Andrew’s despicable acts.

Where has there been any suggestion that he was/is a paedophile? Dirty, sleazy old man, certainly, but I think ‘ephebophile’ is the term for his sort ( though I prefer ‘ dirty, sleazy old man’)
The fascination with his sexual habits has prevented questions being asked about his financial affairs, possibly in relation to his friendship with Epstein. He certainly lived well on a £20k pension!

Cossy Thu 19-Feb-26 11:02:51

Sago why are Andrew’s daughters “greedy”? In every other respect I agree with you 100%

The British Public are de facto victims of acts of misconduct in public office.

Daddima It’s very well known that JE trafficked girls, grooming them into prostitution who were both under and over the age of sexual consent. There’s questions over where Andrew had sex with these women as the age of consent varies in various USA states.

In any even he was many many years older than some of the woman with whom he associated, that in itself is a bit sleazy, at the very least.

I do find it interesting how some in here are more concerned about papers being shared than women being trafficked and used by Andrew.

I’m not in any way trying to say sharing confidential papers concerning our country and possibly national security isn’t a serious offence, but for me the human element is far more important and serious.

Of course, we are entitled to our own views, beliefs and morals. My comments only reflect mine.

nanna8 Thu 19-Feb-26 11:10:43

They knew all this a long time ago and that is why the King removed him from his house. Nothing much to do with Virginia Guiffre No doubt they were dreading what is happening now.

Cossy Thu 19-Feb-26 11:13:02

Tuliptree Thank you for continually and consistently correctly me! You do remind me very much of a previous poster, I hope you have a wonderful day smile

Usedtobeblonde Thu 19-Feb-26 11:14:18

He is being held in custody.
What sort of custody do you imagine, a holding cell, an interview room or the Chief Superintendent’s private office?
Whatever, it will be a complete shock to him.

25Avalon Thu 19-Feb-26 11:15:32

He has been arrested but not charged and until he’s charged he can only be held for so long. The police won’t charge until they have gathered all the evidence which could go on for some time. Time enough for a suite to be prepared for him in The Tower of London if he is found guilty. He could arrive via Traitor’s Gate.

Those of us who understand the law, understand that the arrest is about the papers and NOTHING to do with the alleged trafficking etc. He wasn’t holding public office when those alleged acts took place. You’ve no right to say that discussing the facts of this arrest implies we aren’t concerned about the other strand. What it does mean is that we understand the issues involved

25Avalon Thu 19-Feb-26 11:18:35

The teddies shouldn’t have to go with him. They are innocent.

Primrose53 Thu 19-Feb-26 11:19:30

If he has any sense at all he will have got rid of any incriminating evidence long ago. He’s had plenty of time.

Ha ha - the emails he sent are not just on his server are they? My guess is the police have seen the originals ( not those published by Trumps govt) before they arrested him

25Avalon Thu 19-Feb-26 11:22:26

Presumably even if not charged he won’t be able to leave the country so no joining his ex wife in UAE.

I also imagine it would be easier to find actual evidence that sensitive information was passed on, rather than people inferring that AMW must have been involved in trafficking etc. I doubt there will be concrete evidence of that, though who knows ( apart from the internet sleuths)?

Cossy Thu 19-Feb-26 11:23:56

Thanks again Tuliptree for inferring I’m too stupid to understand both the law and the matter in hand.

Please don’t bother responding, my comment is merely an observation and doesn’t warrant a response, I won’t be responding to to you again in this thread. smile

The police must be pretty sure of the evidence. There is no way I assume that they would arrest the King’s brother if they were not convinced of his guilt?

I wouldn't say they were convinced of his guilt. Apart from anything else this would be prejudging the issue. However it does mean that they think there is a case to answer.

It is not unusual for people to be arrested, uestioned and bailed - and later freed from all legal restraints because they are quite innocent of any criminal activity.

He’ll probably be released on police bail but as he must be a huge flight risk given his contacts I wonder how they’ll address that? I wonder if you can tag someone who hasn’t been charged ?
