I wonder if he used his one phone call to speak to one of his middle eastern friends. I can't imagine any duty solicitors in Norfolk are well up on Misconduct in Public Office. A navy pension isn't going to pay for a team of fancy-shmancy lawyers. And if I were the King I would find it morally wrong to finance my errant brother's legal representation. So somebody needs to pay.

Oreo, I think it is just the way things are done, as far as I am aware the police may ask someone to go to the police station to make a statement etc., but when arresting someone it is usually done at a person’s home or place of work, wherever they are at that time.

He had to be treated as any ordinary member of the public.

Nobody in the royal family has been arrested since the first Queen Elizabeth had Mary arrested.

There will be lots of people in senior royal circles, the police, MI5 and the FBI/CIA fully aware of what Andrew has been up to for a long time - his association with inappropriate ‘business contacts’ will have been logged and concerns expressed. There are plenty on the UK business side who stated to the press he was a liability and embarrassment. He had no qualifications to justify his role in the first place. This is another example of being handed a position on a plate and being paid handsomely for it despite it carrying no value to the taxpayer at all.
The police and ‘royal protection’ are already compromised by knowing about Andrew’s meetings with Epstein (and accompanying him when these meetings took place), his dubious behaviour with a succession of visitors to royal properties that were known and never coming forward to make the concerns public before now.
The investigation needs to dig deeper into what Royal and Police knew about his dubious practices - and look at arresting them for complicity. Maybe Andrew or Fergie will ‘tell all’ . Maybe it will be the beginning of the end of the deference to all things royal that still exists in some quarters.

Yes I imagine out on bail with clear bail conditions set, unless they do have unless the kind of evidence StoneofDestiny alludes to is solid and ready for charges, in which case the CPS would have been already consulted.

For those who haven’t, read Andrew Lownies book. It’s an eye opener, and, yes, all this has been flagged up over the years many times but he was untouchable while his mother was alive.

This of course doesn’t just extend to royalty but to wealthy and powerful/famous people as well, many whose names have been revealed in the Epstein files. There seems to be a a shift away from the rules and laws that ordinary people have to abide by, an immoral and tacit understanding that they can get away with whatever they do wrong because they have the money and the connections to make the bad stuff disappear.
I honestly think they get to a point where they don’t even see ordinary people as being the same as them, they must believe they are superior beings and thereby able to treat such people with the contempt they deserve.
At least criminals at the bottom of the pile can argue that they were doing what they did to survive. Imho those at the top are much much worse.

Boz, we do not have plea bargaining as such, but pleading guilty can be taken into consideration at sentencing.

Earlier this morning, the relevant emails to Epstein could be seen free on the Telegraph. They are now behind a paywall, which I refuse to pay for.

I partly read some while they were visible. What I saw was a list with descriptions of properties and businesses etc in the area he had been visiting which would be worth Epstein investing in.
