Why does Trump give so much support to Netanyahu and Israel

First of all, this is not an anti-semitic post, I have no issues with the Jewish faith or with the people of Israel, I do , however, have huge issues with Netanyahu and his current government. Below is taken from today's Washington Post and outlines what Trump has agreed to during his first term and to date in his second term. IMO, the war being conducted in Iran ATM is basically to Netanyahu's and Israel's benefit, not really to the benefit of the US. So why does Trump act as he does? Surely it's not just to appease American Jews as it is alienating far more American voters?

"Through five years in the White House, Trump answered some of their biggest prayers. He moved the American Embassy to Jerusalem, recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and ripped up the Iran nuclear deal. U.N. funding for Palestinian refugees was gutted. Jewish settlers in the West Bank, once condemned by Washington, are now getting their own U.S. passport office."

Trump derangement syndrome having its day ….

It sure is. I know people, who are otherwise quite sane, who have literally been driven quite crazy by their TDS😉 ! Their reason goes out the window !

Are you sure they were sane to start with?😁😜

So if, it's not Israel's war why don't they just say No Thanks?

Arto1s Wed 11-Mar-26 05:52:53

Why shouldn’t the USA ally themselves with Israel? Would you rather they joined forces with terrorists?

It is Israel's war Netenyahu encouraged Trump to attack on a large scale and Israel is doing a lot of the fighting.
The objective is to remove the nuclear weapon threat from Iran and end the terrorism that Iran promotes. Israel is in the front line of both of those threats.

All of us would benefit from regime change in Iran if they agreed to stop the nuclear programme, sponsoring terrorist activity and allow verification the war would end. Islamic terrorism costs us all a great deal many governments are destabilized by Irans extremist ideology, it needs to end.

The war was started by Israel and the USA. They are in cahoots and the life of innocents means little to them - justifiable collateral. The war is illegal - no declaration of war was issued, it was called without consultation with Senate or consultation with other countries they now demand cooperation from.
Let’s not forget Netanyahu is a war criminal. Trump is under investigation for his mentions in the Epstein Files - was a great distraction this allows Trump.
Never more apparent than it is now that us leaving Europe was a disaster - the consequences of that move has left us isolated and vulnerable.
Trump
Has been trying to start a war for some time - anywhere - he has antagonised Greenland, Canada and South America - laughable he set up a ‘board of peace’ having done all he could to denigrate the United Nations.
We do not need the US as an ally - under Trump they cannot be trusted.
Meanwhile in Israel, they are grabbing land of Palestinians with impunity and Gaza is being left to rot!

The person with Trump derangement syndrome is Trump.
Have you been able to actually listen all the way through to any of his recent demented ramblings?
Have you been able to make any sense of them?

There’s certainly a rambling woman talking to a select committee at the moment. Completely clueless. Our Rachel…..

Well said StoneofDestiny.

Thank you for such a thoughtful post on this serious issue.

Jews in America are only 2% of the population, they punch above their weight in community involvement, education and voter turnout …voting Democrat.

The Evangelical Christian presence however is vast (about 58 million) and they believe in ‘Israel’ as it’s in the bible and therefore God protected ..and they vote Republican.

Whether Trump believes that or not is irrelevant, that is where he gets the votes. And that is why Israel is heavily supported. It is by the evangelical Christians.

So, in terms of the historic battles of the Abrahamic religions: the Christians initially won the biggest world share, pursuing and destroying Jews internally and fighting Muslims externally, for new lands to conquer.
Since then most Jews and Christians have felt safe ditching religious dogma, becoming secular, multicultural and liberal whereas Muslims rarely have. They tend to be more religious and therefore patriarchal. Ironically it is the Muslims who are being supported by young ‘progressives’ somehow not believing how reactionary and powerful Muslim States can be by dictat only seeing them as victims of Israel. The obvious suffering of Afghan and Iranian women has not been enough.
it is not Islamophobic to see Islam’s massive growth in world power. And that will not be good for half the human race, for their freedoms, their education or their autonomy. I think that’s worth fighting for.

I know is probably unreasonable but I can’t help blaming the MAGA supporters who voted for this imbecile. Is not just Trump’s fault, they voted for him. Which means a sizeable portion of US voters are capable of causing this kind of worldwide havoc.
I think we all need to rethink our relationship with this so called ally because Trump will go at the next election but his supporters aren’t going anywhere.

I agree

Essexgirl145 Wed 11-Mar-26 12:49:19

Because Trump is stupid.

GoldenAge Wed 11-Mar-26 12:54:02

It's not true to say that the war in Iran is not to the benefit of any country but Israel. It is entirely to the benefit of the US as a global power concerned very much with the role of China and Russia on the international stage. Trump has admitted that he pushed Israel on 28th February to launch their missiles so that the US could come in with support immediately, and in return expect retaliation on US bases that would justify further US intervention. The US wants Iran to be less cohesive, less of a power so that should it become too friendly with China its threat is less.
It's all smoke and mirrors with the US president, and not lost on me is the fact that Hilary Clinton in her deposition on 25 February, called for him to be questioned on the Epstein files and that piece of news very quickly dissolved with the outbreak of the US-Israel war on Iran three days later. Just saying.

Not Israel per se?
Since BN is the leader he represents Israel.Israel and the US have my support in this conflict with Iran but more importantly the people in Israel support it too. They have had enough one way and another with Iran.

Do the citizens of Israel support and welcome BN and another war? Do you not think they’ve more than enough fighting and warmongering and losing their innocents?

I don’t see them, imo, supporting Trump and BN, in just the same way as many American Citizens don’t support Trump or War.

This doesn’t just affect Israel, USA and Iran, it affects the entire ME and most NATO countries.

Shame on BN and Trump!
