This is to continue the discussion on the key thread that is monitoring the war.

Today's bombings quite shocking. Terrified civilians who are supposed to be "grateful" to Trump.

At the same time, the Iranian response, to draw other countries into the war, is going to cause widespread reactions. Trump started forces he could not have predicted. He's now taking about it appears non existing mines in the vital sea straits.

And his own country is vulnerable re the cost of oil. And that wont go down well domestically.....

At the same time, the level of bombing in the Lebanon is also shocking me.

Indeed, mae. If the war is over and Mr Trump awaits immediate surrender, why the censure for the lack of European support?
He has said, on many occasions, that the USA wins all wars, does not need NATO, and European troops merely stand back to let Americans do the frontline fighting.
Given all of this, we can leave this matter in his hands, surely?

The US have said they used old maps when they hit the school so it seemed it was a military building.
There is an ongoing investigation but it's unforgivable that the US didn't have up to date information before bombing.
Or is this just a pathetic excuse.

If Iran continues to target oil production then I can see Trump targetting their schools, hospitals and residential areas as well as their infrastructure. Iran will be bombed back into the stone age.

I know Israel doesn’t think twice, but I would hope that the USA would stop before it commits such war crimes.

Its courts have already ruled the bombing of the school illegal.

You have to admire the press team working for Mr Trump. Presented with the job of explaining away the death of schoolgirls, which was quite a challenge, someone came up with a cunning plan - out of date maps, of course!
The first try (aka lie) - it was an Iranian missile, wasn't a success , but if first you don't succeed, then... Creativity at its finest.

Smileless2012 Thu 12-Mar-26 09:22:15

How can we possibly believe anything they say? If out of date maps were the reason for the tragedy why did America initially say it was an Iranian missile and unless I've missed it, has anyone expressed any remorse for the loss of all of those young lives?

AGAA4 Thu 12-Mar-26 09:40:16

I think the US press team are adept at lying now. They are very experienced at wriggling out of uncomfortable truths.

There is a suggestion that Trump wants out of the war, but the opinion is that it won’t be so easy as opting out of further Venezuela violence or Greenland etc.

He’s thrown his lot in with Netanyahu and to announce the battle is won, but Israel fights on make it all a tad difficult.

Apart from Netanyahu I believe Hegseth was urging Trump on into war.
Many were opposed to the appointment of Hegseth due to his drinking. He has often been seen drunk and his second wife divorced him because she was afraid of him.
Hard to believe this trio of Trump, Hegseth and Netanyahu dragged so many countries into a war.
Trump has major mental health problems, Hegseth is possibly an alcoholic and Netanyahu is wanted for war crimes.

None of those responsible have expressed any sorrow or regret.

It’s utterly despicable

It’s appalling! Not a shred of any decency between them.

In all my 76 years I have known several political leaders in the west who were less than morally upstanding but this shower are beyond description.
They belong in the criminal underworld or in prison.

The failure of the media to report on the illegality of Trump’s actions is disgraceful. No criticism. Just numbers and strategy. Hesgeth is a drunk psycho now renamed Secretary of War. It’s Orwellian.

I agree with you about Hesgeth. I listened to him holding a press conference the other day and he was using expressions like they will be toast when innocent people are being killed. He was acting as if it is all some gung-ho game. I can see why Trump hired him, though. Very alike.

No.
Instead of liberating the people he is killing their children instead.
Is sickening that not one spokesperson has come out to voice regret.

Smileless2012 Thu 12-Mar-26 12:24:22

Sickening and only to be expected Fallingstar angry

Whitewavemark2 Thu 12-Mar-26 12:30:30

One thing we can be absolutely certain about is that where a month ago Iranians opposing the regime had perhaps (by no means certain given past history) all their hope pinned on the USA - will now be utterly appalled at the USA and Israel’s behaviour. As will other countries in the region.

ronib Thu 12-Mar-26 12:37:04

According to the Daily Mail, ?? , the new leader is in a coma and has a leg amputated. Arguably the Iranian government is carrying on regardless. We can expect a continuation of power regardless of the individual leader until a new government is elected which seems unlikely.

Maremia Thu 12-Mar-26 12:41:57

Didn't Kash Patel do a 'clear out' of USA officials who weren't Trump admirers?
Unfortunately those officials took away with them decades of knowledge and skills.
Hence some of the 'errors'.

Fallingstar Thu 12-Mar-26 12:50:27

Not sure if this will work, apologies if it doesn’t.

We are in agreement .. Hesgeth is a Nazi Maniac just like Trumphet and the Gang ..

Maremia Thu 12-Mar-26 12:54:00

And those Iranian women, who have the sympathy of many on these Threads, are now being carpet bombed in Tehran.

Frenchgalinspain Thu 12-Mar-26 13:05:59

SPAIN & ITALY & CANADA are NOT part of this death chamber or war ..
