Should The King’s visit to America be postponed?

I wouldn’t put it past Trump to bring politics into a conversation with the King and bad mouth Starmer as he does with every visiting leader in front of the cameras.
The man is totally uncouth and can’t help himself. So I don’t think the King should visit Trump and am pretty sure the government will feel likewise, but if he does I hope he will have the presence of mind to say that he isn’t there to talk about the PM. End of.

I see no reason why he shouldn't. Sorry to say it, but King Charles is no Queen Elizabeth. She was a true ambassador for Britain, held in high regard by everyone. King Charles will simply be a foreign dignitary paying a visit. I doubt if politics will come into it.
What would be interesting is if Trump and Charles discuss the present state of Britain and its government. I would like to know Charles' honest opinion, but of course, any such conversation will be kept private.

Both Farage and Badenoch have said that they do not want to join USA in this fight, so I’m intrigued as to who ronib has in mind.

I’ve just checked the positions of Ed Davey, Zak Polanski and Rupert Lowe. None of the support joining USA either.

Yes - he was very reluctant over Trump’s visit, now if I were him I’d be apoplexite (sp?)

We do not want a Trump appeaser as a Prime Minister, thank you. We want one who puts British interests first and trusts our allies.
We cannot trust Trump.

Just hope that the Uk doesn’t have to call on the USA any time soon. We have to hope that the royal visit calms the situation down a bit. I imagine that a change of prime minister would help the special relationship. It might help us too.

eazybee, I agree the King would not lie. He’s a skilled diplomat, has had dealings with very difficult situations with some foreign leaders. I’m confident he could whisper Trump. I’m unhappy the King is in an invidious position.
I’m not a great Camilla fan but I can’t imagine her being in anyway phased by Melania or Trump.

I think he shouldn’t go and hope it’s cancelled before Trump gets wind of the idea and withdraws the invitation.

Sadly, I think it needs to go ahead, it’s planned, but I’d consider future trips either there or Trump very carefully.
