So the latest from Trump is that the UK and other European countries should go to the Straits of Hormuz and fight for their own oil because he isn’t going to help them anymore if they don’t help him.
So a quick translation of Trump speak for yourself -

I started an illegal war and don’t know how to get out of it so am blaming everyone else and expecting them to clean up the mess I made.’

Trump has said the war will end in a few weeks whether there is a deal or not. He says that the US has done what it set out to do by getting rid of the regime and destroying their ability to produce nuclear weapons for a long time.
The truth is a bit different. The cost of the war to the US means it can't justify it any longer. Trump is losing support and has alienated all the allies. He can't say he's won because he hasn't.

Also add "I, King of the United States of America, have made sqiillions out of deliberately starting a war in the knowledge that the price of oil would skyrocket and I am now richer than Elon Musk. Now I'll leave the mess for all you other suckers to fix. Ciao!"

The oil companies would drill if there was any sort of profit FOR THEM. Doubt if they have concerns about how it would affect us.

I'm sorry Cossy, but unless you are a 'London woke lefty', it doesn't count.

Can’t we send Trump to the far side of the moon?
Perhaps if we promise he can build a big fat ballroom there…..🧐

Yes!

I’m from London but not sure about woke or lefty, am awake and would prefer politics to move a bit more towards a political model that represents the people rather than puppet masters, does that count??

We can't stop now, the Iranian people need their freedom too many have died to stop now. They aren't religious they don't want to be Muslim, can't believe it taken this long to get rid of the brutal regime. They are asking and thanking Trump for help.

I read somewhere that if Trump withdraws from NATO as he has threatened, that he is then going to be unable to have his military and other bases on European and other NATO members land as of rote. Currently, he has A lot of US bases on foreign land. He won’t be too happy if he’s chucked off all of those!

suelld Wed 01-Apr-26 15:09:13

In plain English …Trump started a fire he thought was going to be easy to burn what he wanted, with no plan as to how to deal with any side brush fires, or even any idea that could happen. So unfortunately for him the fire has grown out of his control, is affecting half the world, so with no idea how to put it out he blames every and anyone else! It is likely he will just leave it burning and tell everyone he has put it out. His supporters will believe him, or if they actual have a brain they will convince themselves they really can’t see any fire, because to actually realise they are wrong is to know they were hoodwinked !

Are they? As far as I can tell Trump hasn’t helped the ordinary Iranians one jot and anyway, this wasn’t his intention!

And who is this “we”?

I feel deeply sorry for those in Iran and lots of other countries run by facist despots.

He cannot have it both ways, however much he thinks he can!

Yes very many of them are, but some don’t it’s dividing families there. It’s a terrible regime which thinks nothing of murdering thousands of its own citizens if it suits them.Girls murdered in custody for not wearing a head covering and often tortured and raped beforehand. Also the very important fact that they pay hamas and hezbollah and other terror groups and arm them.
Changing the regime cannot be totally done from the outside and it would need a real uprising with the police and some IRG on their side for it to happen IMO.
Destroying any nuclear capability they were close to and setting them back for years and years and reducing their abilities to make missiles and affecting their economy badly is the real reason for attacking them.

Maremia Wed 01-Apr-26 15:32:52

Was just about to ask the same. Who do you mean by 'we'?
The ones who started this illegal war are Trump and Netanyahu.
Trump is bored already.
Netanyahu may be planning another Gaza in Lebanon.
I hope it stops soon.

Maremia Wed 01-Apr-26 15:34:38

Fallingstar, my apologies. I was joking, by referring to an 'insult' on another Thread, about 'London left wokies' or similar phrasing.

Maremia Wed 01-Apr-26 15:37:01

Yes it is a shocking regime Oreo, and because of Trump's action now has a much more extreme Regime Leader. That is not going to help any women who live there.

And I explained what the definition is 😁

AGAA4 Wed 01-Apr-26 15:37:59

Trump is itching to pull out but Netanyahu will want to carry on. He won't be satisfied until many thousands are dead and their infrastructure in ruins.

That was always a possibility as the ‘supreme leader’ was very old and could have died anytime.

He doesn't understand NATO who act in defence not to attack other countries. He is a very ignorant man.

He has to get out of this war as he knows he is in trouble. He is not fit to be president on so many levels.

So true.
And all the peevish comments he keeps making about many European leaders including Starmer are unprofessional and childish. He sounds like a wagon losing its wheels atm not a president of a super power and certainly not like an ally.

It’s the word “grateful” which smacks of ego. An inflated ego which believes the lie that the USA has given so much to the world. Maybe. So now Trump believes that the consequences of his illegal actions have nothing to do with him. This man believes he should get a Nobel prize. He is delusional as are his supporters. America, get him out of office already. He made this mess and was granted a second term to do it. He’s building his bunker under the White House so no one can force him out of it- he’s there to stay. Gratitude? For what? Nothing he has done.

Wyllow3 Wed 01-Apr-26 15:51:22

And done so without thousands dead and parts of the world in crisis, Netanyahu killing more and planning to annex a chunk of Lebanon having displaced a million Lebanese north, and a crisis in oil

oh terrific

One madman.

AGAA4 Wed 01-Apr-26 15:58:50

Two madmen. Trump who is clearly very unbalanced and Hegseth, an unstable drunkard who thinks he has found God.
Why are these two able to cause chaos across most of the world when they both should be in a mental institution.

Magenta8 Wed 01-Apr-26 16:11:56

I hope Trump realises how reliant the USA is on Canada for crude oil. He should perhaps stop being so rude about and to the Canadians and stop telling them and the Europeans how much we need the USA and how much the USA does for us with so little return.

I am glad that the Pope has come as close to speaking out against Trump as he is allowed to.
