At least its holding for now - on waking, checked instantly.
What Netanyahu and his cohorts are doing is creating walls of hatred from those innocents he has bombed or displaced, without the means to earn a living including young men not inclined to sit down and let it happen.
This reverberates over the world and I cannot see is in anyones interest. He has lied about the extent Hisbollah hold power in order to extend territory.
Nothing good can come of this in the long term, nothing good.
It's my view that negotiations have to include the whole package.

News of Iran ceasefire
(450 Posts)There is hope and oil prices plunge it seems Trumps invasion attack plans are on hold if Iran opens Hormuz, we can hope.
Why can't anyone stop Netanyahu from murdering all these innocent children. There is nothing defensive about it. So unfair and disproportionate on every level. First Gaza, now Lebanon. Hope Trump turns off his tap of money.
It's a pointless war. I don't even know what Trump thought he'd gain from it. It's unbelievable that somebody didn't tell him that killing a few strategic leaders and bombing some areas isn't automatic victory. If he thought he'd impress Netanyahu, he's failed and I can't imagine why he'd want to do that anyway.
The Strait of Hormuz is Iran's most valuable tool.
I think the truth might dawn on Trump some time and he'll get bored. That's why I think he could stop supporting Netanyahu, who does have a reason for continuing.
I'm trying to imagine what future historians will make of it all.

Who would the "somebody" be?

This ceasefire was never going to hold with Israel in the mix - it never held in Gaza.
There is zero trust between the states.
It was never going to hold with Iran in the mix!
They’re a rogue state who sponsor terrorism around the ME and wider world.
Reading myriad commentary from different sources, it seems that the biggest loser in this is Netanyahu (anyone surprised?).
For years he has been threatening Iran, putting pressure on UN, world media and the USA to go to war with Iran.
The comments from the CIA are that Netanyahus assurances that by hitting Iran hard there will be regime change and revolt by the population were utterly farcical, nothing the security services had in their data showed that this would be the case.
Netanyahu is absolutely against the ceasefire - and will do everything he can to undermine it. It must be noted however, and it certainly has been by the Israeli’s that Netanyahu has failed strategically, politically and simply hasn’t achieved a single goal he set himself. This includes Gaza, Iran and Lebanon. When will Israel learn that nothing is achieved through war. They have everything to gain from getting around the table and talk, however difficult it is.
This significant failure has weakened Israeli standing in the world (particularly with the USA public) and its security.
Israel’s continued and horrific attacks on Lebanon appears to many like displacement, after being thwarted in its warfare on Iran.

Attacking them (Iran and Lebanon) in the way they've been attacked won't do anything to change that. All it will have done is harden anti-US/Israel attitudes (apart from kill a few hundred citizens, which apparently doesn't matter
).
I wonder when Israelis will rise up against him.
Trump has mentioned yet again that the allies weren't there to support the attack. He then mentioned Greenland in a veiled threat presumably saying would NATO try to stop him.
Netanyahu is a blight on humanity who wants a everlasting war. How much land does this man want and how many more thousands of people is he willing to kill to get it.
You fail to understand the hatred against Israel and Jews generally Whitewavemark2 in the ME.
Talking does zilch to stop the attacks on them.
Iran isn't 'in the mix', it isn't part of the current situation, it is the current situation because it was attacked in an illegal war.
I agree with you, Whitewave. It's a matter of time before Netanyahu goes and Israel can hopefully find itself a new leader who can rebuild Israel's reputation.
Re your post yesterday @ 23.11 MayBee you're not the only one who sees a parallel there.
Mr. S. thinks I'm becoming a conspiracy theorist but I've always thought there was something distinctly fishy about that assassination on Trump. How convenient that he 'escapes death' to claim he's been 'saved by the hand of God' and to be compared to Jesus by the idiots who support him.
The assassin as you say was 'taken out' before he could ever be questioned.
It will take a very long time before Israel's reputation can be restored if ever twaddle, just as it will be for America.
I don't know because I'm not trained in managing warmongers but there must be powerful people who are paid to do this work.
Perhaps the United Nations could arrest him for war crimes. He appears to have crossed the war crimes line many times but nobody ever does anything about it. If I were to continuously break the law, the police wouldn't allow me to go on for years before they lifted me. Should be the same for him.

Shame you're not concerned re the Israeli children palestinian hamas murdered after taking them hostage. They didn't have the privilege of living a life either.
Approx 2.1 million Arab Muslims live in Israel, with same rights as Jewish population, peacefully, some serving with IDF. Shame a few Palestinians can't do the same, live in peace. Just think who started this, yes palestinian hamas.
Remember the Bibas children, Mila Cohen.
You have no right nor evidence Freya to say gransnetters aren't concerned, just because we do not allude to it every single time we post on a relevant topic
Of course people criticising Netanjahu's regime care about their fate. I would venture to say that those whose hearts feel deeply for the children in Iran also care about the Israeli children, it's not an either/or.
I certainly won't be shamed.
Every human life is of equal value. Every single one.
Just think who started this
I do think and I wonder.

Going by this forum only, did they have much of one anyway?
Has anything really much changed?
Just using this forum as an example.
But, unusually really, does this forum in fact mirror real life?

Apparently, the UN is a toothless tiger.
In which case, no point in relying on them.
Are you concerned about the Palestinian children murdered by Israel in Gaza Freya? Are you concerned about the children who've been driven from their homes on the West Bank by the IDF and illegal Israeli settlers? Are you concerned about the children in Lebanon being slaughtered by Israel at this very moment?
No, I don't think they did have much of a reputation anyway fancythat, but what little they'd retained has been lost.

You're wrong, Freya. Arab Muslims do not have the same rights as other Israelis since the new law about the death penalty.
