As i have said I don't think the main threat to Jewish people is from Farage or Kanye West. I think Farage is sexist but then so is Alistair Campbell, so is Owen Jones, there are plenty of them about.

twaddle Sun 12-Apr-26 09:06:08

I hope that the penny is finally dropping for Farage supporters and they can see him for what he really is. Maybe the "see it as it is" soundbite could be turned on him.

Farage doesn't care less about "ordinary voters". All he does is try to pick up on their grievances and find scapegoats, so that he can harvest votes.

Anybody who belongs in any kind of minority group is at risk of discrimination (or worse).

Isn’t Canada allowing euthanasia for the masses?

What does sexism have to do with anti-semitism?

Fallingstar, nanna8 frequently opines on subjects that she doesn't have full facts upon because she lives in Australia.

Oh I didn’t know that.
Apologies nana8 I thought you were a potential Farage voter over here.

Galaxy Sun 12-Apr-26 09:08:58

Antisemitism and his attitude to women were referenced in the op.

nanna8 Sun 12-Apr-26 09:10:08

Please read what I said. I did NOT say I was a Farage supporter.I merely said that all the speeches he has made publicly never mentioned the Jewish people. That is true. He makes speeches almost every day, just for your information. I hold firm to that and too bad if you choose to disagree. He spends most of his time going on and on about the boat arrivals and the incompetence of the Labour government.
I am certainly not anti semitic, that is a joke and if you knew me it would be blaringly obvious. I love my son in law and his family.

Everything crossed for Hungary today.

Despite Trump giving his full support to Orban, it looks as if this election will see an end to Orban’s. reign.

🙏🙏🙏

The thing I don’t understand ( well if I’m being honest I think I actually do understand😄) is that Orban has done nothing for Trump whatsoever, but is a strong supporter of Putin.

Am certainly not alluding to you being anti semitic or Islamophobic etc., but with respect even if a politician in any political party was not being anti semitic in speeches made today but had made anti semitic references historically and supported anti semites I would expect that politician to be out of a job.
The same would go for any racist comments whatsoever.

Galaxy Sun 12-Apr-26 09:16:34

Yes we can't have people in other countries giving opinions can we grin

LizzieDrip Sun 12-Apr-26 09:20:04

I have never seen anything antisemitic in any of Farage’s speeches. He concentrates on boat migrants and I have listened to most of his speeches. I don’t particularly like the man but trying to shock people into disliking him with untrue comments doesn’t help.

Nanna8, which ‘untrue comments’?

Why let the truth get in the way of a good leftie hate fest!

I'm perfectly happy for people in different countries having opinions, after all many of us have strong opinions on Trump etc al. However, whatever your opinion, you cannot say Farage hasn't made anti semitic comments when they are well documented. That needs corrected

Yes. That is what I am trying to say.

Maremia Sun 12-Apr-26 09:29:42

Can anyone remember those absolutely anti-semitic taunts that Farage made to his then school mates?
Not once, not twice but frequently, even in his senior years.
Should be easy enough to find the actual quotes.
What about those paid for 'cameos' he made for only his fans?

OK! Thanks for the explanation. So you were referring to two separate issues.

I disagree with you about the threat to Jews from the likes of Farage or West. Whether or not there are bigger threats doesn't excuse their anti-semitism

I don't see how living in Australia could skew public facts.

Are any of you close and personal friends with Farage or do you get your information from the internet news?

I do hope so. Trump and Vance are such hypocrites, they made such a fuss about a few UK Labour Party members going to the USA to canvass for Democrats at their own expense and in their own time.

Fallingstar Sun 12-Apr-26 09:37:24

What we need to ask is why any serving politician in any other party if found to have made anti semitic remarks historically or supported anti semitic videos would automatically be pressured to resign whilst Farage, the leader of an increasingly popular political party is not.

Witzend Sun 12-Apr-26 09:40:01

TBH I find Farage repulsive anyway, physically as well as everything else, so avoid watching anything about him.

It makes one wonder who is behind the pressure for politicians to resign, when Farage and his supporters seem to be immune.

What? That is such an offensive and misleading statement, Canada has had Medical Assistance in Dying legislation since 2016, there are guidelines for its administration and it has to be applied for and granted. My husband’s aunt who was in her 90s had such a poor quality of life that she applied for it and it was granted, she was able to choose where and when it was administered and who should be with her, she passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side.

MaizieD Sun 12-Apr-26 09:50:09

It's money, isn't it. Look at the rightwing press. Who owns it? What are their 'beliefs? Who would benefit from Farage being in power?

Pressure on politicians to resign always comes from the media.

LizzieDrip Sun 12-Apr-26 09:53:54

Totally agree Fallingstar.

I’m bemused as to why Farage is allowed to get away with all this.

Since becoming the MP for Clacton he hasn’t held a constituency surgery, yet he’s spent hours (whilst being paid by the tax payer as an MP) making Cameo videos for money.

Farage is the leader of a UK political party! Would we put up with Ed Davey selling misogynistic, far-right supporting comments online?

Farage appears to ‘get away with murder’. He disgusts me!

Graphite Sun 12-Apr-26 10:06:06

I’m bemused as to why Farage is allowed to get away with all this.

Because Daniel Isaac Greenberg CB the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is ineffective.

I have written to his office sevreal times, with evidence, about clear breaches standards by Reform and former Reform MPs but nothing happens.

I just receive this standard response:

The Commissioner is in general expressly prevented by the Procedural Protocol in respect of the Code of Conduct from investigating a Member’s views or opinions, including those expressed on social media. So he will not be opening a formal investigation into the matters you have raised.

Which is odd seeing as the Commissioner is supposed to be in charge of regulating MPs' conduct and propriety.

In other words, I’ve being told that MPs can be as offensive as they like, can incite as much hatred and civil disturbance as they like, and the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards will do nothing.

While Farage tends to be more careful about what he says, Rupert Lowe's racism is utterly out control on social media. His ranting for cash on X is on a par with Trump but Greenberg will do nothing.
