When is a royal tour, not a royal tour?

Silly me! It's when you visit a children's hospital and wave at the crowds. As well as visiting a homeless refuge and a War Memorial. Not forgetting attending an Invictus event and the last post ceremony on Anzac Day.
Plus the inevitable money making events which are now allowed.
Harry and Meghan's visit to Australia, (in very high shoes and expensive outfits).
Forgive my confusion. Am I missing the point? 😆

Maybe she thinks given the chance, he will Cardamom.

I must remember to use both those words in my daily vocabulary.

Performative has only appeared recently on Gransnet, however, and was remarked upon at the time.
It used to be known as showing off!

The royals charge for their presence?

Allira Wed 15-Apr-26 11:39:26

Cardamom

I'm perplexed as to why, after almost 7 years and numerous overseas trips, Megan still grips onto Harry as though he's about to fly away.

Perhaps because he keeps humming that Randy Crawford song.
Stop, just stop, Harry!

Harry is always referred to as that little boy walking behind his mother’s coffin. Now correct me if I’m wrong but I remember TWO young boys walking behind their mother’s coffin, not one. Harry has been cut a lot of slack over the years based on this. His real issue is his hatred and jealousy of his brother who will one day be king, and also the amount of drugs he has confessed to taking over the years which influences his behaviour. The palace covered up a lot for him, some of which we now know, some yet to be revealed no doubt. I look forward to the Sentebale court case revealing yet more about this man who likes his own way and kicks off if he doesn’t get it. In some ways, not many, I pity Meghan Markle for what she has taken on. I very much doubt it is a love match for either.

Yes and William was only two years older, yet seems not to attract the same sympathy or amount of slack offered.

Oh No! That’s one of my favourite songs.
I’m going off it already! 😂😂

Oh we haven't had a Meghan bitchfest for ages…. Lets all pile on…..

Hear, hear.

You forgot, in your diatribe, to mention mummy's promiscuous behaviour leading to doubts about Harry's parentage.

He’s the image of Prince Charles.

He is, isn't he!

King Charles, oops!

Allira Wed 15-Apr-26 12:25:09

Well, he was Prince Charles when Harry was born.

Can anyone explain what the difference is between a "bitchfest" and a discussion/conversation about a public figure who's currently in national news?

eazybee Wed 15-Apr-26 12:27:14

Harry is the image of Prince Charles?
Really?

Cardamom Wed 15-Apr-26 12:28:40

Harry is the image of Prince Charles

Only to a blind man on a galloping horse! grin

Yes. Obviously.

A bitchfest is when complete strangers make nasty, personal comments about people they do not and are highly unlikely to ever know.

Not used here but then we are always 10 years behind and not so fancy schmancy.

Well, there wasn't one personal, offensive,
or bitchy remark in the OP. Even the high-heeled shoe observation wasn't being nasty. I actually admire anyone who can walk in them!
As others have said, a question was put forward.

So now, the way anyone's normally writes, using everyday vocabulary, is "showing off". Surely calling someone names because they don’t adapt, whether it’s vocabulary, accent, or anything else, is simply poor behaviour, not a valid expectation.

Have you seen any photos of James Hewitt? Who knows?

Smileless2012 Wed 15-Apr-26 12:55:55

Diana didn't meet James Hewitt until 2 years after Harry was born.

25Avalon Wed 15-Apr-26 12:57:16

They’ve taken a reporter and a photographer with them to Australia. That’s why there is so much in the press.

Smileless2012 Wed 15-Apr-26 13:00:14

Ensuring that there would be so much in the press Avalon.

Why so much coverage?
On the front of the newspapers with additional articles inside, and certainly on all the major television channels.
I thought the Australians were not interested in the monarchy, and although H likes to remind us all, frequently, he is a Prince of the Royal Blood, M is most definitely not royal in any sense of the word.
And what charity work?

Well I agree - it's only cos the media makes such a fuss we even know.

silverlining48 Wed 15-Apr-26 13:04:44

Well I hadn’t heard about their travels until I read this thread just now, yet I watch and listen to the news every day.
