Manners? Perhaps bad manners?
My first experience of the Second World War

Soā¦..what are we all up to on this beautiful sunny bank holiday? āļø
Iāve just seen a clip of a speech Trumpās made where he stated ā⦠Charles agrees with meā¦ā
Thatās King Charles to Trump!
Also I very much doubt our King agreed with the War in Iran!
I believe the this was original a private conversation.
Now Trumpās posted another chilling photo of him holding a machine gun š
Manners? Perhaps bad manners?
No. He is a very American and tell it like he sees it. Shucks!
I think nanners even for lots of younger British began to fall off the wagon in the Sixties.

I knew he had no manners when he took his girlfriend, who would later become his second wife, on a family Christmas vacation to Aspen Colorado.. This was in the 1990s, when his children were teenagers.
And thatās the worst example of Trumps atrocious bad manners that you can think of.
There are no words š

... and tell it like he sees it.
I suppose that's one way of excusing his lack of social skills!
I assume that is a rhetorical question! š A š· has more manners!
WithNobsOnIt, it is interesting to reflect on changing norms over time. I was young in the sixties, and my children were young in the Noughties, and some things are different, but some expectations persist.
We still shake hands as a formal greeting, but may not stand up to greet a new arrival at a meeting.
People are more likely to use forenames in most situations. Invitations are far less formally issued.
However, as you know, my dislike of Mr Trump starts from him publicly mocking a man with cerebral palsy.
Strangely, I think that is less acceptable today than when I was young - it might have incurred a tentative laugh in certain places then, but would be seen as completely wrong today.
Period Queen! (Iām learning the lingo from my granddaughter

Trump seems to have no grasp on manners in the slightest!

NO! Trump has no manners. He thinks our King is his buddy. I bet King Charles and Queen Camilla are counting down the days for coming home.
Not sure about that, either he and Camilla are excellent actors or theyāre quite happy to be there.
They know how to behave and they did it faultlessly
Unlike Trump
I think they seem quite happy to be there and perhaps they like the informality of Trump.
I donāt know who is more hated here. - Trump or Meghan ?
I think they just know that our King is there for life, and Trump is a temporary fixture. They have their eye to the UKās future relationship with the USA, and ride over the noise.
Canāt stand him. Bet Charles and Camilla will be glad when itās home time.

Well I disagree!
All of our children, and that of my wider family and friends are well mannered (when they choose to be!)
Really I guess I was referring more to protocol than etiquette and Trump appears to be lacking education around both, unlike the majority of his predecessors!
Thank you

Think our King and Queen are doing brilliantly - I guess they will be very glad to get home. I just saw a video of Mr T greeting King Charles. He very clearly reaches out to do the strong man handshake - the one where he pulls you about and then into a clinch. I laughed out loud. The King has been practicing! He extended his hand very civilly and shock hands. You can see Donald really trying to jiggle him about but King Charles had his elbow tucked well against his ribs and a generally rigid 'frame'. The handshake did not last long at all!
It was hilarious
IMO he is a rude, unintelligent and narcissistic person. I could say more but yes he should have referred to him as King Charles or the King if he was being polite nd should be aware that no one uses just his Christian name in an official setting like that. As for his comments. I believe them all to be untrue and Iām quite sure that the King just tolerated him and did his duty, so to speak. The only thing that made me smile was the bell with Trump on. It was a brilliant choice for someone who turns every single thing around, to be about him. Trump himself wouldnāt have āgot itā but Iām sure everyone else did!
My feeling about Trump is that he has the thinnest of thin skins. He seems unable to withstand even the mildest of criticisms and appears to have a need to be constantly revered, so much so that he will actually congratulate himself if no one else is doing it.
I don't know anything about his upbringing, but I do wonder if, as a child, he just wasn't given enough attention, or was made to feel inadequate in some way - because that amount of craving for admiration is almost pathological.
If what his niece, Mary, says is true - then it would appear that he was emotionally neglected by strict demanding parents in an environment where 'winning at all costs' was the family value. That could have made him feel very lonely as a youngster, and could explain why he's so temperamental, so 'needy' of admiration - and so spiteful when he doesn't get it, or when he's being held to account. Maybe he's never matured emotionally - and that is perhaps the fault of his parents?
I agree Dickens. The self aggrandisement through wanting his picture on banknotes, his face on Mount Rushmore, and the lasting legacies of his taste in the gold decorations, the ballroom etc. are all signs of a deeply insecure man.
Mary Trump's book explains a lot about how this monster got created. He was basically unloved and probably ridiculed a lot. He has spent his entire life trying to convince first his family, and then the world, that he is "the best" at everything he does. He's probably trying to convince himself. He is both pathetic and dangerous.
Here in America, the latest survey shows about 80% of the population disapproving of the job he is doing as President. Most of us can't wait to say goodbye to him.

If Mary Trump is giving an honest portrayal, then the 'kindest' thought I can have about him is that he is a victim of his upbringing.
I know that as adults, we all have 'agency' over our behaviour and actions, but I'd imagine that his childhood experience of family life and the effect it had on him could provide enough material for two conference arenas full of psychologists to debate endlessly...
Again, if Mary Trump's portrayal is accurate, then it appears young Donald was never shown any love or affection by either parent. Hardly surprising he turned out the way he has.

Well, as he is legally married to her we can hardly complain about that.
Just as well it wasn't on Queen Camillia's, which Trump's known record with women hardly makes impossible.
I was disgusted when Trump said Charles. Itās KING! Also stop touching our KING!

Urgh! Heās a pig!
The fact that just about every leader in every country thinks Trump is complete fool means that one thing Trump has done is to unite the world on one issue.
