Farage/Reform got £12.000.000 before the 2024 election.

BUT

Breaking news over the last 10 hours,

Farage was given £5.000.000 by the Thai-based billionaire Christopher Harborne shortly before announcing he would stand in the 2024 general election, "for security"

Farage did not declare this, breaking parliamentary rules.

He should be held accountable by parliament and appear before a standards committee. Reform UK claim he did not break parliamentary rules. Oh really?

No one, No politician should be allowed to accept gifts without declaring them,

But £5.000.000!

Report from Reuters.

Since you asked MaizieD

£411,662,259. 66p to Conservative Party since 2010

Since 2019 £35 million to Reform

So actually Reform romping home on &35 million is an eye opener.

ronib Mon 11-May-26 10:17:17

£35

But the thread is about donations, declared or otherwise.

Hesitation doesn't feature very much, but repetition does.

You may want this thread to be about donations, declared or otherwise - but it's not. Lecturing us what you want the thread to be about won't change the title and subject of the thread eazybee.

There’s no hiding from the fact that Reform represents exceptional value for money!!

MaizieD Mon 11-May-26 10:23:40

^Since 2019 £35 million to Reform*

Reform was launched far later than 2010. I did ask for all Farage's parties since 2010. UKIP etc...

Reform UK was officially registered with the Electoral Commission soon 6 January 2021.

As of early 2026 Reform has established a substantial financial base, driven by high value donations. £35 million since its inception 5 years ago in 2021, but with a significant SURGE in funding from late 2024 through to 2025. A high percentage of this funding is concentrated among a few individuals- Harborne, none uK tax payer living in Thailand £22 million, Hosking over £2.4 million and Richard Tice.

Reform UK's funding structure has attracted scrutiny due to the high concentration of donations from such a small number of people with data reported to the Electoral Commission.

Recent scrutiny has further landed on Farage, a Guardian newspaper investigator found that Reform UK's highest donor, Harborne gave Farage a personal sum of £5 million and Fragge FAILED to declare it. It is common sense that as this sum came form Reform's biggest political donor Harborne would raise concern IF FOUND OUT- as it has. The rules are quite clear to declare in such circumstances.

It smacks of corruption and deception.

I shall be looking for a parliamentary investigation and the Electoral Commission to look in considerable depth at the relationship between Harbourne, Reform and Farage.

It is time the murky financing was made entirely transparent. If there is nothing to hide, Reform can do no better than open its books. To do so will scupper those of us who think that there is something very dodgy going on.

What would we do without Casdon to tell us what we are supposed to be talking about. No deviations.

Rambling off down blind alleys?

There is a reason for the rule that donations to an MP must be declared. It is to avoid them being suborned by a criminal or a foreign power into committing treason against the government and country which they are sworn to serve. "Crypto" is a prefix which means "hidden". If an MP hides a very large donation in a hidden currency, the immediate suspicion is "Why? What else are they hiding?"

I’m impressed that Reform has got to its current position on peanuts ….

ronib Mon 11-May-26 10:36:24

Do feel free to find out your particular information MaizieD…..

I raise you the five million in crypto donated in secret to Farage by a foreign interest, which by the timing, may have 'persuaded' him to stand for Parliament, just after announcing that he wouldn't. He did not declare it, and was found out by newspaper investigation.

Anyone able to top that?

Thats it in a nutshell Maremia.

Farage's response to being found out? Deflect to "Its a "smear" campaign, which Tice repeated yesterday on LK and Jenryk on Question time - same words, same deflection.

£10.2 million left by Lord Sainsbury as a bequest in 2022 to the Conservative Party. Fat good it did.

Maremia Mon 11-May-26 11:40:18

What happened to it ronib? On whom was it wasted? Given to just one individual, in secret, and therefore undeclared?

Looking at Reform, ronib. Of the £35 million it has received since its inception the 'surge' noted by Lemonjam over about 1 year (2024/25) was £20 million' . Not 'peanuts'. I suspect that it would not have done so well without it.

It was declared to the electoral commission. It was bequeathed to the Conservative Foundation, an endowment fund rather than for direct campaigning.

Lord S was a life long Labour Party supporter, served as an under Secretary of State in Tony Blair's government. He was a House of Lords Labour peer. the endowment fund supports a bursary scheme for parliamentary candidates.

He was a significant philanthropist and gave funds to various parties over his lifetime for specific causes e.g. to the lib dems to support the Remain campaign in the Brexit vote.

With all the excitement going on elsewhere today, it would be easy to miss that it has just been reported than Farage will face a Parliamentary Standards Commission investigation in the £5m ‘gift’.

AGAA4 Wed 13-May-26 13:40:06

Just caught that on the lunchtime news. I hope Farage doesn't wriggle out of it. He should lose his seat.

Casdon Wed 13-May-26 14:11:56

I read that the Electoral Standards Commission, which was the body the Tories complained to, might also investigate. Their decision is due on Friday.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 13-May-26 14:55:59

I understand that the gentleman who donated this money says that he has a lot more to give. When challenged over the problems associated with his present donation, he replied that he would find a way around it...
He's a crypto currency businessman. Mr Farage has spoken ( entirely coincidentally, of course ) about a need to change the rules in Britain regarding cryptocurrency trading.

Graphite Wed 13-May-26 15:09:37

There is no question this should have been declared.

Harborne had already given the Brexit Party £10 million and has subsequently given Reform £12 million. He had given millions to the Tories and to Johnson privately.

Farage would not need protection (as he claims this money is for) if he wasn’t a very visible and controversial political figure.

This induction letter to new MPs from the Commissioner for Standards Daniel Greenberg is very clear.

www.parliament.uk/globalassets/documents/pcfs/advice-notes/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards---members-induction-pack-2024.pdf

^The main purpose of the Register is to provide
information about any financial interest which a Member has, or any benefit which he or she receives, which others might reasonably consider to influence his or her actions or words as a Member of Parliament.^

That Farage takes £5 million from a crypto billionaire and had become a huge advocate of crypto since becoming involved with Harborne is no coincidence including proposing huge tax breaks for people making capital gains from crypto gambling.

Looking back at Farage’s nomination documents to stand for Clacton in 2024 I noticed that one of his two main nominees was racist Jeff Bray whose behaviour was exposed by HopeNot Hate. Last week he was elected to Essex County Council.

In other Reform news, in Doncaster, one Reform councillor elected last year wants money spent on a UFO committee. The aliens are very interested n Bawtree apparently.

It’s politics Jim, but not as we know it. Bloody aliens coming down here taking our jobs and council houses.

Are they coming in small spaceships? 🚀

Graphite Wed 13-May-26 15:21:37

What would be interesting is if Farage is suspended leading to a recall and by-election and Labour put up Andy Burnham to slug it out with him.

What are the odds of electing a man who had a proven track record in fixing things for local people versus a man who doesn't give a flying fig?

No, they arrive in chariots of fire!
