Well we have come a long way from the proposition that the media is anti-Semitic.
Good Morning Friday 19th June 2026
How about some good news in the news?
Huge win for Andy Burham, Reform a distant second - where to now?
I can’t copy the drawings published as they would be immediately deleted and for very good reason.
The Telegraph, Sun, Daily Mail and Times has printed exaggerated drawings of Polenski, depicted in the very worst drawings of a Jewish man.
How are they getting away with it?
And then ask ourselves about the causes and encouragement of anti-semitism.
Well we have come a long way from the proposition that the media is anti-Semitic.

I've watched the police cams, I don't think kicking in the head was necessary. Tasering is surely enough.
What a typical response, from someone in the nice cosy safety of their own home - criticising police who had to tackle a very dangerous, armed criminal.
I’m sure you would have handled it so much better.
Boz, nothing to do with his face, its what comes out of his mouth and what he thinks that’s the problem. I heard him speak this morning, who would consider him? He has a history of lies but says he has changed. I think not. Do think. people, whatever race or religion should be more integrated into society and not into a small area.
Wyllow 3, you discredit our police and if tasering twice causes cardiac arrest but saves innocent lives and is the only way to stop a killer, so be it. As for listening to Polenski why listen to a liar.
Police kicking people in the head wasn,t OK when it happened in the United States and it’s NOT OK here.Police here are supposed to be trained to deal with all situations without resorting to thuggish behaviour.
Or is that no longer how police are trained in England? Before we know it they,ll be carrying guns d shooting folk in the back.
Better get this under control before you all regret saying it’s ok
Allsorts, I have very little time for Polanski. I wish the media would stick to analysing what comes out of his mouth rather than resorting to what appear to be anti-semitic caricatures.
Has there been an official investigation yet?
Instead of reacting with anger...why don't you read all of my post Allira? I was commenting on what the original post was asking ie the causes of people who react with such anger and violence. It doesn't represent what I think or do. But it does represent, as we can all see why some are reacting with such violence. It doesn't mean I agree with it but there is a correlation between the two.

Perhaps, as in other countries, more police need to be armed to keep the public safe from terrorists and other violent criminals on our streets.
I see you mention police in England, not averse to putting the boot in again yourself.

Instead of reacting with anger ...
I didn't. However, explaining away anti-semitic attacks on innocent people is wrong.
Oh dear! Never mind..you have a nice day Allira
(Apologies for incorrect FB statement)
Time to re-address the O/P
Why should the newspapers concerned not be charged with a hate crime for their anti semitic cartoon?
Allira
^I do support the police in general, but like our Armed Forces, they are highly trained to deal with and defuse situations such as the one they were dealing with, they are not brave, they are doing the job they’ve been trained to do and are paid to do.^
I’m not downplaying the danger our police and armed forces face, sometimes on a daily basis, but they know what they’re facing and what they signed up for.
Yes, you are downplaying what our armed Forces and police do on a daily basis and dismissing them as not being brave, merely doing a job they are being paid for is unbelievable.
Thanks Allira, I was angry that anyone could so easily dismiss the courage our police and military need because ‘they know what they’re facing and what they signed up for’. I have clear memories of my dad coming home from work with awful facial injuries and of the night when he was one of the senior officers called in after the aBombing in the Manchester Arndale centre, praying he’d come home safe.

... to stab two Jews and a Muslim
The Muslim was known to him, a 'friend' who lived in the same area. The Jews were random strangers that he made a 40 minute journey to a predominantly Jewish area to select. He had a dispute with the fellow Muslim, he didn't even know the Jews. The police would not have known about the earlier Muslim victim, their knowledge extended to the two Jewish men that had been attacked. Hindsight is so brilliant isn't it?
So what? I merely stated a fact. He stabbed a third person, who was a Muslim.
But how was it in the least way relevant to what the police officers were dealing with, the knowledge they had? I'd suggest not at all.
It's a fact! I'm sure you don't disagree with facts and I don't understand why you're being so defensive about somebody stating a fact.

Must say that I am very alarmed by what he says and think that a lot of the candidates for the Greens are a massive worry.Very antisemitic and also downright ignorant people.Considering they may be running councils and affecting lives locally I have to hope they won’t do as well as expected .
I read that half of Londoners will be voting for them, which fits with half of London being a heady mix of head in the clouds professionals, woolly liberals, LGBTQ+ activists, trans activists and those who are reared hating Jews.
Polanski reminds me of a cult leader btw.
I am not defending these cartoons in any way shape or form, I think they are hideous and antisemitic
I do find it rather odd that when I was against Priti Patel being depicted as a bull complete with a ring through her nose due to the fact that she was raised as a Hindu, and cows/bulls are sacred in their faith. This was in my opinion also hideous and disrespectful to all Hindus.
I was told repeatedly on the N & P thread at the time that it was political satire and therefore acceptable…
It was equally abhorrent GrannyGravy13 but there were so many insults about her bandied around on forums including
PrittiUgly amongst others so am not surprised by what you say at all.☹️
I was toldrepeatedlyon the N & P thread at the time that it waspolitical satireand therefore acceptable.
Well, they were talking bull then, weren't they?
The insults about Priti Patel were equally abhorrent, I agree. Just as abhorrent as the insulting names Keir Starmer has been called online and in the MSM.
All this should stop - regardless of political affiliation. Criticise the policy … not the person!
Thank you 👍🏻
I agree with you, criticism of policies as opposed to personal attacks should be the norm.

One poster, possibly no longer on GN or may be under a different username, said:
I find it interesting that when people agree with the sentiments in cartoons, however offensive they are, they claim that it's free speech. However, the same people turn into snowflakes, when they disagree with the sentiments.
Some posters thought it was fair game for Priti Patel to be depicted as a bull with a ring in her nose, simply because they disagreed with her politics.
It's a matter of perception.
I've seen the cartoon with Polanski kicking the policeman and am sorry to see that it was by Peter Brooks, an illustrator whose work I've always liked. What a pity.
Our local Greens are popular generally and mostly climate orientated:
Our council is shared by LibDems/Labour and Greens.
They are very involved in setting up free advice centres on all things recycling and houses getting solar panels etc, council funded and volunteers.
Long may it stay that way.
And what exactly is a "wooly liberal?"

Yes.
That other thread was most enlightening 🙂
It's funny and Steve Bell has a history of using other religions in his cartoons. So it's no more insulting than the others.
Steve Bell has drawn cartoons which insult practically every main religion you can think of. They all probably had members who were upset about this, but there is no legislation to protect religious beliefs (thank goodness).
Cartoonists have a long history of mocking political leaders, Should they be censored for fear of causing offence ? Even when there is no evidence of offence being caused?
Food for thought.
