Just seen in the news that the Met re deploying 4,000 extra police officers in London tomorrow, including armoured vehicles on standby.

If they are that concerned why haven’t they taken action to stop these marches or made them into standing rally’s in contained areas?

Our beautiful capital city once more rendered a no go zone.

Added into the mix it’s also the F A Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

All in the week when London has been named the number one city in the world for culture šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

The sort of holier than thou attitude that doesn’t understand why people would march in the Unite protest is the reason that Reform will do very well at the next GE.šŸ˜‰

ā€œHolier than thouā€ What a very strange thing to post?

Holier than thou, not to want to walk in the same marches as white male thugs following a man who has the most awful attitude towards both women and ā€œnon-whitesā€?

I’m not even understanding what ā€œUnite the Nationā€ even means, if YL was being truly honest and open, he’d have added unless you’re muslin/Sikh and only have white skin!

Unfortunately, I think I have quite a good understanding why people support TR. If I'm on wrong, maybe they could explain why they need flags and wooden crosses to express themselves. What exactly do those objects symbolise to them?

We need to be very, very wary.

a couple of weeks ago, a Local LP member spotted some poppies - yes, our poppies, everyones poppies - on posters on lampposts in a heavy Reform area.

Look at the pic - it's related to Restore I think local residents took them down, as it's offensive in the most appalling ways.

fortunately , it appears not to have taken off, but bolo?

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 18-May-26 14:38:38

As a Christian, I was dismayed to see wooden crosses with " Jesus" written on them
( presumably to help people who might be thinking " Buddha" when they see a cross).
The USA seems to feel that the Almighty is political, and is a Republican. I was hoping that we in Britain would not follow this lead.

The issue here is many many people think Rupert Lowe is some kind of local here. Each month he donates his entire parliamentary salary to one of his local area charities.

Given his net worth is around £30m this is no sacrifice, but it makes him look very good indeed to the folk of Great Yarmouth. Great Yarmouth has pockets of great deprivation. It has a predominately white population higher than the national average.

Despite publicly stating he considers women’s safety and safe places of paramount importance, privately though he was accused of harassing women whilst a Reform member and (allegedly) expelled from the party.

He’s another Tory MP, who moved to Reform, then started his own party.

He’s another who was an MEP and he post regularly for Elon Musk, on X and since the 2024 election he’s received Ā£40k for doing so.

He’s not the kind of person I’d vote with, associate with or want to do any kind of business with.

He’s anti-immigration. ALL immigration.

I’m pretty horrified we have MPs like him and Farage in our parliament. Only good thing about him and Restore and his other party unregistered party Great Yarmouth First, will help split the Reform vote.

I wouldn’t consider myself a Christian, as an adult, but my mother was, I was christened, I’m horrified by the use of these crossings and it all reminds me of the Klu Klux Klan.

There were people of all ethnicities on the Unite the Kingdom march.

I wonder why the non-white thugs (referring to cossy’s post upthread calling those on the march white thugs ) chose to go along…

Ok here goes, as my post needs to be explained to you and maybe others.
You wouldn’t want to have joined the Unite The Kingdom and I wouldn’t either but I understand why a lot do.
They weren’t all TR supporters, far from it, there were various groups joining it and a lot of people who are just fed up with the status quo and want a change for the better for themselves and their families.
Not understanding this is exactly why Reform did so well recently and will continue to do well.
Politicians and anyone else who sneers at them are heading for a shock.
I think at long last KS and his Cabinet are starting to get it, but it’s likely too late for Starmer.

twaddle Mon 18-May-26 15:40:47

Sorry, Oreo, I don't believe for one moment that people on the march didn't know what TR is about. (And I'm entitled to my belief - as far as I know - unless there's some kind of thought police in operation). But carry on believing whatever you want to.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 18-May-26 15:43:11

Oreo yes šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

I have been saying the same for months, if not the last couple of years, an on posts on GN

To sneer at people expressing their views, and then ignore them don’t be surprised when Nigel Farage or even Polanski has the sway in parliament or worse case scenario the keys to No.10…

Maremia Mon 18-May-26 15:45:37

I wonder what it is exactly that the marchers want, that other political parties are unable to give them?
So first of all they want....?

Maybe some just want to be listened to.

A chance to have their fears and worries heard, not to be dismissed…

Maremia Mon 18-May-26 15:47:03

They want better for their families?
Better access to NHS?

Maremia Mon 18-May-26 15:47:52

And those unheard fears are?
Anyone know?

Oreo the annual Nakba demonstrations on a large scale in major cities round the world since the 1990's and in the UK in 2003 (there were smaller ones before).

Thats 23 years, every weekend the nearest to 15th May.

Now are you seriously going to tell me that the "powers behind the organisation" of the TR march didn't know this, and it wasn't deliberate?

So what?
Also ask yourself why these marches for that day started up about 45 years after 1948.
Why not before that date if it was considered important?
Are you seriously saying that the Police have to work out for themselves the exact date this march will take place and then keep all other marches off the calendar? This march isn’t of more consequence to the Police than any other.
TR very likely did know about it and booked his first.

Oreo Mon 18-May-26 15:52:34

Before the 1990’s only small scale gatherings would have been the norm, involving Palestinians but they have grown to contain CND, Muslims not from the Middle East, the far left , Unions and many others.

Maremia Mon 18-May-26 15:55:53

And?

They may well know, or not at all ( hardly anyone is as politically minded as people on here).
But they wanted to express dissatisfaction and disappointment with the present government.
To think that all 60,000 or whatever the huge number was, were all TR supporters is highly unlikely.
But do believe whatever you wish to.

Maremia Mon 18-May-26 15:57:00

78 years since the Nakba, and it's still not resolved.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 18-May-26 15:59:25

If people are content for the pro-Palestinian march and its many different groups marching for different reasons.

Then it must also be ok for Unite the Kingdom, made up of many different groups to march also…

You cannot have one rule for some and a different rule for others.

There were arrests at both marches according to breakfast news.

Oreo Mon 18-May-26 15:59:46

It will happen GG13 expressly because the cloth eared not listening and sneering has been going on for some time.

Maremia Mon 18-May-26 16:01:17

Last year Yaxley Lennon's march drew a crowd of 150000.
This time the number has dropped by half.
So, if it is as some Posters are saying, not all the marchers were his supporters, it may be deduced that his movement is waning.

It’s not for the UK government to resolve.

Wyllow3 Mon 18-May-26 16:01:27

I said that, only small gatherings until the 1090's.

However, as I was an activist at the time of the 6 day war and the aftermath, there were demonstrations around the country following that.
(you may be younger than me, but I was a student and recall Palestine demos around 1970-1971)

Wyllow3 Mon 18-May-26 16:01:59

Sorry, 1990's re the bigger demonstrations.
