Just seen in the news that the Met re deploying 4,000 extra police officers in London tomorrow, including armoured vehicles on standby.

If they are that concerned why haven’t they taken action to stop these marches or made them into standing rally’s in contained areas?

Our beautiful capital city once more rendered a no go zone.

Added into the mix it’s also the F A Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

All in the week when London has been named the number one city in the world for culture đŸ€Šâ€â™€ïž

Is that a quote from upthread Allira?

Maremia Sun 17-May-26 20:38:35

Who funds him?
I think he asks for funding from his supporters.
Did Musk offer him money, at one time?

The march was covered briefly on the News & TR was shown during the coverage. So it's not "nothing to do with" him, the marchers are people who don't mind being associated with him presumably.

That’s because they can’t show their concern about what’s happening in the UK on the other ( pro Palestinian )march.
But on a march called Unite The Kingdom they can do.

Sorry, yes, a quote from foxie48 at 19.21

The sort of holier than thou attitude that doesn’t understand why people would march in the Unite protest is the reason that Reform will do very well at the next GE.😉

I ask again. Who is funding this man?

ChatGP says Tommy Robinson is funded by a mix of supporter donations, crowdfunding, media work and backing from a network of right-wing and anti-Islam activist groups, especially in the US and Canada. More recent reports alleged financial help from figures such as Elon Musk and Tristan Tate for legal expenses, though Musk has not publicly confirmed direct payments.

I'm not holier than thou, I've been described as an asshole on gransnet

still I'm not a racist or a fake

There could be a rule/regulation brought in permitting only one march per day.
That could preserve our rights to protest peacefully.

I've at last understood why the two demonstrations happened on the same day which of course made no logistics sense as we have all been saying.

Every year there have been Nakba day demonstrations, some years quite small, for a very, very long time, whichever Saturday is closest to May 15th
It is, if you like, a "regular known booking".

But someone in the police sort of - well, wasnt aware/on the ball/didn't consult, whatever:

When Tommy Robinson came along to book Saturday 16th March,

whoever took the booking had not put "2 and 2 together" and the Nakba organisers had not yet put in the specifics.

So when the Nakba people made their booking, the "powers that be" could not cancel one or the other for obvious reasons

One might say, and I do indeed suspect, that Tommy Robinson knew quite well that Nakba demonstrations were going to take place since they have every year, and deliberately chose that day:

So I don't see it happening again. and the Wembley clash!

The TR march was booked first so the pro Palestinians can hardly moan about it.
It’s first come first served, Nakba day isn’t sacred in the UK so it’s up to the organisers to get it booked.

I don’t think anyone is accusing you of any of those four things are they?

Wyllow3 Sun 17-May-26 21:17:52

Oreo the annual Nakba demonstrations on a large scale in major cities round the world since the 1990's and in the UK in 2003 (there were smaller ones before).

Thats 23 years, every weekend the nearest to 15th May.

Now are you seriously going to tell me that the "powers behind the organisation" of the TR march didn't know this, and it wasn't deliberate?

The sort of holier than thou attitude that doesn’t understand why people would march in the Unite protest is the reason that Reform will do very well at the next GE.😉

Reform explicitly do not back Tommy Robinson.

JaneJudge Sun 17-May-26 21:41:47

Tommy Robinson isn’t even a real person

Wyllow3 Sun 17-May-26 21:43:16

I suspected that the breakaway group from Reform "Restore" might support TR

I was right.

"Yes, leading figures from the Reform breakaway faction, Advance UK (often associated with the name "Restore"), openly support Tommy Robinson.

The party was founded by former Reform UK deputy leader Ben Habib, who has publicly backed Robinson and described him as a "political prisoner". Advance UK also openly sponsored and participated in Robinson's "Unite the Kingdom" marches in London. You can find more coverage of the faction's activities and alliances via The Guardian or Searchlight Magazine.

This is the AI response with references to look further, but its not hard to believe.

Casdon Sun 17-May-26 21:45:27

True. They don’t support Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, or any of his other known aliases, Paul Harris, Andrew McMaster, Wayne King, Stephen Lennon, or Stephen Yaxley either.

JaneJudge Sun 17-May-26 21:49:04

Wayne King 🙈

Wayne King 🙈

I’m surprised it’s not Donald King.

Thanks. More outside influence again by the sound of it, then sad.

Maremia Sun 17-May-26 22:10:13

Thanks Allira, will have a look.

Maremia Sun 17-May-26 22:13:14

So, Reform's rejects do support him.
Thanks for the research Wyllow.

Maremia Sun 17-May-26 22:14:45

Tristan Tate! Is that one of the brothers charged with sex offences in Romania?

Maremia Sun 17-May-26 22:16:04

Let's save the Nation with foreign control.
Would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

foxie48 Mon 18-May-26 09:23:59

Apparently, TR's relationship with Tate goes back a long way to a shared youth in Luton. The Tate brothers are vile misogynists with criminal charges still hanging over them. Robinson surrounds himself with unsavoury characters and thugs. As they say "birds of a feather, flock together" !

And people wonder why some of us question why they’d march under the banner of any YL organised protest?

Many many people, including many here, is dissatisfied with the way our country is heading (I’m talking economically)

Why would YL even organise a march called “Unite the Country” That appears to suggest EVERY British Citizen should unite, that’s not what he wants, he wants white faced British people, with certain beliefs to unite.

Many many British born people don’t have white faces and are not Christians, so what about them?

Cossy Mon 18-May-26 10:20:54

Not is, are!
