Money well spent?

I love the idea, I loathe the reality and both this and the previous government have made a monumental mess!

Monica- I agree. I also live in BCR area, further towards Cambridge - it is so very well organised, on time, in budget, plus communication with local residents, at various stages has been very good. There has been much less disruption than you might expect with such a huge transport development project.

Somebody, somewhere, leading this project has effective skills and experience that could be advantageously transferred to HS2- to get it over the finishing line.

Might be dead by time it’s finished so will not see any benefit.

I have a solution (tongue in cheek). I live near The Black Cat Roundabout on the A1 near St Neots. It is the biggest road project in the Uk at the moment and is expected to cost £1billion.

It is on time and in budget.

I propose that when the BCR is complete, they sack everyone working on HS2, including the office boy and the cat and appoint the Black Cat team (including office boy and cat) to take over and complete it. They will get it finished in under 5 years.

OK HS2 is bigger that the huge BCR project, but HS2 is a monumental waste of money, a David Cameron vanity project, and needs to be contained and brought to heel as soon as possible. The money set aside for HS2 should be spent on improving the rest of the raail network.

I know how much I will sigh when I go to France later this year as I did when in Spain last year.

Such a mess, not the only one, shameful.
