Raise the Colours founder charged with murder...

'Billy Allison, the original founder of Raise the Colours, has been charged with murder and grievous bodily harm with intent after a man was badly beaten in a bar in Lichfield on Sunday. The victim died in hospital yesterday from his injuries'.
I'm going to feel even more sickened when I drive through the next town to my son's tomorrow and see all the scruffy bedraggled flags flying everywhere. Maybe they should all be taken down as a mark of respect for the murdered man.

I live in a fairly middle class, ethnically diverse area ( libdem council ) Reform have never done well here.
However……England flags are flying all along our high street and have been for ages. I don’t know who put them up but as I say, they’ve been here for months.
No one is bothered in the slightest.
Flying the England flag seems to really bother some people, whereas in reality no one cares or are happy with them.

How do you know that people aren’t bothered by the flags? Unfortunately my main local supermarket is in a flag flying area. If I could go to one without them I would. And I loathe having to drive past them to visit my son.

Its really sad you feel that way about our lovely flag. 😢

It is my flag and I am proud of it. Which is why I don’t like to see wet bedraggled flags ( made in China) flying on lampposts having been put there by people that could spend their time helping their community in a more productive way.

I apologise if this has been mentioned before up thread and I missed it when I scan read.

I think what we have here is a British version of MAGA. Brainless behaviour and hooliganism thinly disguised as patriotism. Nationalism in its vilest form.

Yes, using this country's flag to symbolise Raise the Colour's agenda is offensive.

MayBee70 Sun 31-May-26 19:01:55

I remember finding out that Princess Diana was going to be driven past the end of our road and me and the kids hastily making a Union Jack flag to wave at her. So, not only am I patriotic but I’m a royalist too. And I love bunting; there’s something about bunting that makes me feel happy. I do resent being told that by disliking those scruffy flags I’m not patriotic in some way.

Maybee, I don't know where you live but you've mentioned your son in Staffordshire and I've driven down the A1 near there and it is full of dirty flags flying along the road. Maybe other people haven't experienced this

JaneJudge Sun 31-May-26 19:07:20

the A5 not the A1. TR lives loser to the A1..

What a strange name , raise the colours. Harks back to the eighteenth century when people rode out on their horses to battle. Very odd.

I think that what it is still meant to mean in a modern sense for men any maybe women

You know, for men. Go into battle about a National Cause.

Step up to the plate. Stand up and be counted etc.

Maremia Sun 31-May-26 21:08:39

Who are they 'fighting' for?
Be counted as what?

Vintagewhine Sun 31-May-26 21:26:09

The organisers of Raise the colours are former members of the English defence league, a banned organisation who have highjacked the English flag. Disgusting lot who spread hate and division.

Bullsh*t. Just because people want to fly our flag to be patriotic doesn't mean they are violent or far right! They are objecting to being flooded with illegal immigrants, many of whom have committed assault and rape on women and young girls and stand outside schools and watching children in parks. Are you are blind and deaf? People are scared to go out where there are hotels full of illegal immigrants. We are paying for the privilege at a cost of: Asylum Hotels: According to data from the BBC, the UK spent an average of £5.77 million per day on asylum hotel accommodation. This was down from a peak of approximately £8 million per day due to government efforts to maximize room sharing and shift individuals to cheaper housing options.Long-Term Contracts: Managing asylum housing is outsourced to private providers like Serco, Mears, and Clearsprings. A National Audit Office report revealed that these overall asylum accommodation contracts are projected to cost £15.3 billion over ten years.

So you are admitting that the flags are down to being anti immigrant?

Susieq62 Sun 31-May-26 22:19:08

Peaseblossom be careful you will burst a blood vessel with your rant!
You do realise don’t you that most rapes and assaults are by white British men ?
Flying the flag by the odious Raise the Flag group is definitely unacceptable! I really despair at people being sucked into their way of working! 🤬

Peaseblossom Sun 31-May-26 22:23:00

MayBee70 Partly. Who in their right mind wouldn't be?! So many ridiculous legal cases where criminals get a slap on the wrist for awful crimes and yet anyone saying hurty words against violent immigrants gets a visit from the police. It's crazy. Left-wing lunacy.

Wyllow3 Sun 31-May-26 22:30:07

Ainee

I can’t comment on this awful situation but I can comment on the fact you can’t tar everyone with the same brush not all racist bully boys.
Britain is finished people here blaming others is shocking Tommyand Nigel maybe instead of blaming you yourself should take action go and collect the flags show your true side stand up for what you talk here. It’s very easy on here it’s just a blame site today.

Have you no idea what happens to people who try to take theee flags down?

My family live in Co Durham just up the road for a village and trees lined by these flags blocking peoples front bedroom windows.

The two men who tried to take them down where beaten up by these thugs

Go and collect them?

of course we are blaming them Ainee

Now most of them hang in shameful and ugly tatters.

It would be good if you could expand on that because it's not something I or many other people recognise. It sounds like propaganda.

Agree with you and take no notice of those trying to rubbish your post. There are none so blind etc. they are willing fools as many have tried and failed to point out.

Allsorts Mon 01-Jun-26 06:16:16

No flags on lampposts here. However, I do put my Union Jack out as do my neighbours because we are patriotic. If people are experiencing harassment by the group Raising the Flag to stirrup racial hatred its wrong and the law should have the powers to arrest them, where they can house them I do not know. Those of us not affected by these hotels as mentioned by Peaceblossom cannot dismiss her and others their valid concerns, its only what they are experiencing.
All this is because successive governments have done nothing about immigration. They should have cleared the backlog first before allowing any more into the Country. We have to know who is here and we don’t. Look at these businesses on our high streets being used for money laundering. Stop serving petrol to the boats, deflate them before they can be used. Only consider those that apply legally.
We need compassion yes, but we need to know who is here so Identity Cards or no benefits, that's just common sense and also these dubious shops stripped of their goods and seized. I expect a lot of youngsters get drawn into these groups who are not bad people but those that can’t get jobs and see money wasted on hotels etc whilst they get nothing and just hear about our debt and how much this is and has costed UK. Who listens to them?
There is no way I am a racist, this isn't about race it is about unattainable illegal immigration. Also anyone who comes here and gets involved in serious crimes committed should have passports revoked, should be a probationary period of 10 years on them, if they are above board no problem. If people cannot agree to those terms they try elswhere..

Aha, true colours being revealed in ranting posts.
This Labour government has done much more to tackle the issue. Immigration is down.
A foreign funded, helicopter flying, pretendy politician is not your answer

Two men have too much beer, start a fight and the publican tries to stop or restrain them. The publican is hit and dies. My best guess. I would like to see hard evidence put before a judge and jury and hope that justice will prevail.

The dead person was not the publican here and anyway, Ricco and Loren is not a pub - it's a family-owned cocktail bar. Quite smart with outside seating.

Maremia Mon 01-Jun-26 07:33:04

And the founder of Raise the Colours, whom some GNs appear to support, has been charged with murder.

NotSpaghetti Mon 01-Jun-26 07:38:09

The man who died was very involved in the local community.
Lots of tributes to him locally.

I wish the council there had removed the flags as a mark of respect.
