How has the tragic case of this young man not caused outrage?

Imagine if he had been a person of colour or ethnic minority.

The Police handling of this case raises serious questions.

The killer behaved appallingly, lying to Police and then getting his family to hide weapons and cover for him.

It’s also astonishing to learn Sikhs can carry these knives in public because they are “ religious regalia”

For anyone that isn’t aware of this tragedy here is a link.

Thank you LemonJam.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Jun-26 16:08:58

Jailed for life, minimum 21 years.

NotSpaghetti Mon 01-Jun-26 16:23:44

Good outcome here then I think.
Thoughts are with the family.

Kandinsky Mon 01-Jun-26 16:28:17

Good. I hope he rots in hell.

LemonJam Mon 01-Jun-26 16:42:52

Good- I hope the family can now be left alone to grieve in peace.

Judge’s sentencing remarks to the murderer:

"You have brought shame upon your family and your religion.
Your actions have stirred up racial tension in Southampton and across the country which have made many Sikhs worried about their safety."

Stirring up racial tension does not serve Henry or his family in any way. What the judge said specifically about Henry was that Henry did not support racism. I hope this racial tension can now simmers down - particularly TR on line- in Henry's name and memory.

What’s happened to the lying Mother and brother? They should both be jailed in my opinion.

MissAdventure Mon 01-Jun-26 17:09:05

I think the mum's case is due to take place in july.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Jun-26 17:37:28

The family of the convicted man were shouting at Henry’s family as they all left the courtroom, including accusations of racism 🙄.

MissAdventure Mon 01-Jun-26 17:45:06

Bas***ds!!!!!! angry

Kandinsky Mon 01-Jun-26 17:49:04

Murdering scum thought he could play the race card & get away with it. thankfully the judge & jury saw straight through him.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 01-Jun-26 18:32:54

And the rest of the family? The perjuring father and brother and the mother that hid the knife?

The mother has been found guilty and will be sentenced next month. No idea why the brother and father weren't charged.

For those calling for Keir Starmer to comment on this thread, now sentencing is complete, he has done so, Sky news.

Listening to the statement from Henry Novaks father is heartbreaking.

Is that it? He’s not taking the knee this time then?

Henry’s family are so dignified in their grief. What a lovely family.

MissAdventure Mon 01-Jun-26 20:29:26

I can't find starmers comment about Henry's murder.

Silvershadow Mon 01-Jun-26 20:55:46

It’s on Sky News. Politicians have a lot to answer for in this country. Why should these people be allowed to carry ceremonial knives? The rest of us aren’t. The whole thing is outrageous. That poor young boy and family.

MissAdventure Mon 01-Jun-26 21:20:17

I'm sickened, sbsolutely, by tje thought of an 18 year old lads life ending im such a sad, inhumane way.
I can't help but wonder if he thought the police would take control and save him, call him an ambulance, hold his hand...

Primrose53 Mon 01-Jun-26 21:31:52

No group of people should be allowed to carry any knives. The rules should apply to everybody.

Mind you, Sikhs are excluded from wearing crash helmets. That’s not right either.

In the light of this dreadful tragedy things need to be changed.

Primrose53 Mon 01-Jun-26 22:27:40

The footage of Henry’s final moments has just been shown on TV. It is truly horrific and a bystander tells the Police that Henry says he’s been stabbed. Henry then tells the Police the same but they slam handcuffs on him and read him his rights while he is face down on gravel. The Police officer then tells him “I don’t think you have mate.”

This footage was shown in court and the family have given permission for it to be shown again.

surfsup Mon 01-Jun-26 22:52:51

The family of the convicted man were shouting at Henry’s family as they all left the courtroom, including accusations of racism 🙄.

If this is true then that family are truly disgusting and not surprising they have raised a murderer. In marked contrast to Henry’s dignified, decent family.

REKA Mon 01-Jun-26 23:36:07

The footage is awful. That poor lad. His last moments alive were filled with pain along with the terror that the police were treating him like some vile criminal .

eazybee Tue 02-Jun-26 07:03:38

Have just watched the footage of Henry Nowak's last moments. Truly appalling.
The perpetrator and his family stood by and watched him die knowing he had been stabbed, and did nothing.
This makes a mockery of permission for the carrying of bladed weapons for religious reasons.
The grief of his father: "it is my job to protect my children and I failed to keep him safe. I was not there when he needed me most."

GrannyGravy13 Tue 02-Jun-26 07:21:53

I am away at the moment, this was lead item on the news.

Utterly heartbreaking to know the last thing your child heard was a police officer arresting him, and when telling the officer I’ve been stabbed the officer replies don’t think so mate 😡😡😡
