Matters not a jot re race or creed - what matters is the cause of such unwanted and unwarranted behaviours - if qat is culturally ‘acceptable’ and available that will be a significant contributory factor/cause

Yes other media outlets are now correcting their reporting of the assailant was Somalian to that he is Sudanese.

I’m not sure what you mean Sago. Do you mean why do Sudanese people kill others, or why do immigrants kill others, as opposed to why do British people kill others?

Hers another one from today, a celeb, stabbed in London. Three have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The girls were murdered in Southport not Stockport.

Many other girls and their dance teacher were seriously injured. My family members were involved, so forgive me for jumping to point this out as we still all live with the aftermath still.

I think dismissing people with mental health difficulties is just heartless and equivalent to what Kemi B is suggesting re pushing away equality and diversity laws to replace them with 'common sense'.

More seriously, I'd never heard of 'Qat induced psychosis', maybe we need to consider the major drugs problem throughout the Western world. The BBC ran an article this morning about drugs gangs 'cuckooing', apparently the drug dealers get you hooked and then take over your flat and use it for drug dealing. Maybe we could ban all media links on GN and go back to peacefully mowing the lawn ... no mow May has gone after all. (Heavy irony here!)

Only this morning I had to avoid the spit from chewed qat on the pavement outside the post office.
It was one of the reasons my daughter moved from Leigh on sea. It was constantly outside her house and on her car.
She knew where it was coming from. She constantly asked the shop keeper where the culprits worked, nothing changed.

If you look at the N Irish news there is a tad more detail, it appears that the attacker was Somali.

Somalia is a dangerous country that all Western nations warn their citizens not to visit. I remember hearing a Women's Hour programme once about trauma and how there is no mental health care for immigrants who may have suffered terrible things.

I only saw one mention of the background of the Stockport killer, his parents were from Rwanda which was the site of the terrible massacres of Tutsi people by Hutus in 1994 and I thought of what such a family/young boy must have seen.

Irish history itself is a story of colonial domination and the trouble it brings. There are never easy answers to these events and some answers are those that others would prefer not to consider. It's probably easier to do that if you've lived a life of relative comfort and safety.

The PSNI have confirmed that the attacker was Sudanese another country where people have suffered terribly for decades.

Coming from NI I agree. Paramilitaries on both sides still thrive in NI controlling housing estates and making money from dug dealing,trafficking,prostitution,child pornograpy and running loan sharks. Because of the vicious actions of one person last night young men are being ordered by the paramilitaries to assemble throughout NI tonight, to dress in black and come prepared to fight and to be arrested. Domestic violence and the murder of women in NI, often by those known to them, is at an all time high but the paramilitaries don't seem to care about these brutal murders because they're carried out by white men from NI,they pretend to be 'protecting our children' but order young men to turn up by appointment to have their kneecaps shot to pieces, if they don't turn up they will be killed, the hypocrisy is appalling.

So qat must be another substance people chew and spit out.

I heard about paan which covers the streets of north west London apparently. A disgusting filthy mess which is very difficult to remove. I suppose chewing and spitting out all these drugs is something we have to accept because it's cultural and they are recovering from trauma.

There seems to be a lot of posts on this thread giving excuses for what has happened. Seriously, is there any excuse for trying to behead a man on the street? I don't care what the reason, it is sickening and this person is dangerous.

It reminds me of the shock and horror we all felt at the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby on the street in 2013.

I think we have enough British born people with psychiatric problems, without shipping more people in with psychiatric problems!
