What those people must be going through. Having had a few hot days gives us some understanding. To be without water and a home in the heat. The whole place is destroyed. And now Trump is waiting for Netanyahu to finish it off.

Hardly surprising Aveline ? You are excusing antisemitism

Aveline Wed 29-Jul-26 10:28:21

How about Antipalestinism?

Wyllow3 Wed 29-Jul-26 10:29:27

Neither is excusable.

Matters may be explained but that is not the same as being excused.

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 10:31:53

It has been said umpteen times that any anti semitic posts on GN are reported.

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 10:42:32

Thanks for the charity link Wyllow

Aveline Wed 29-Jul-26 11:03:30

Thanks for the link. I'm happy to contribute to this.

'Independent and impartial medical care'
Surely everyone is entitled to that?

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 12:37:40

Report on BBC News just now, about settlers violence.
Mary Robinson speaking now.
She says it is 'Government policy' now.

Aveline Wed 29-Jul-26 12:43:51

Violence towards the settlers

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 13:03:35

She is saying that the violence against the Palestinians is supported by the government, and that the settlements are illegal.

Frenchgalinspain Wed 29-Jul-26 13:09:27

Cossy

It’s genocide, it’s horrific, it’s terribly sad.

Horrifically horrendous genocide ..

Killing babies and children and women & men without arms ! And they say they believe in God !

Satan is more realistic.

Samwam Wed 29-Jul-26 14:42:57

Belgium just intercepted two UK military shipments bound for Israel right at Liège Airport! 🚫✈️ Under strict new transit laws,
no arms-carrying planes allowed in Belgian airspace—zero exceptions. Even without a permit request,
authorities made it clear: access denied. Tensions are peaking! 🌍⚡

so no change Burnham same as starmer

Samwam Wed 29-Jul-26 14:53:50

A peice from The Tribune.
Palestinians to Burnham:
Do no harm.

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, in his tongue-in-cheek apology for Labour’s position on Palestine, stated that his party under Keir Starmer ‘didn’t get it right’ and needs to ‘do better.’ This must be the mother of all British understatements.

Britain under Labour, just as under the Conservatives, has been complicit in arming, justifying, and whitewashing apartheid Israel’s genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, its intensified ethnic cleansing of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and its ongoing Nakba against the entire Palestinian people. This is on top of the UK’s unique responsibility for the establishment of Israel in 1948 as a settler-colony through the planned destruction of the Palestinian homeland and the ethnic cleansing of most of the Indigenous Palestinians.

A UN Commission of Inquiry has recently confirmed that Israel is committing an ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people. This is in harmony with the near consensus of human rights organizations, United Nations human rights experts, and the International Association of Genocide Scholars.

Describing Israel’s genocide, Orly Noy, the chair of Israel’s leading human rights organization B’Tselem, recently wrote, ‘Israel is unleashing a holocaust in Gaza, and it cannot be dismissed as the will of the country’s current fascist leaders alone.. . . . What we are witnessing is the final stage in the nazification of Israeli society.’ The UK could and should ‘do better’ than being complicit in all that.

Message deleted by Gransnet. Quotes a deleted post.

No. It's just human nature. I'm surprised you don't see that.

silverlining48 Wed 29-Jul-26 15:31:37

Rosie you are misquoting Aveline. She does not say antisemitism is acceptable but that it is hardly surprising. I think she is quoting from research reported in this mornings bbc news that of the 8 or 9 countries with the most Jews in their population, who have self reported increased antisemitism.

This has been always been about the Israeli government actions not the population. Though many in Israel are in total agreement with this which I and many millions of others throughout the world, find abhorrent.

To those honourable Jews who stand up against the rest I applaud their bravery and their decency. They can hold their heads high when their children and grandchildren ask about this genocide in future.

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 15:43:53

Aveline has said nothing of the sort Rosie.

Rosie51 Wed 29-Jul-26 16:28:16

Just come back to find I've been told off three times, does that count as a 'pile on' ?
I note Aveline's original post has been deleted by GN headquarters, I wonder why?

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 16:35:20

From what I can see on this Thread, there appeared to be a 'pile on' against Aveline.

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 16:37:29

Interesting about those ships, Samwan.
This must be a new policy.

silverlining48 Wed 29-Jul-26 16:43:47

Not told off, just politely responding to your point.

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 16:45:59

Didn't know that Belgium had such a policy.

Aveline Wed 29-Jul-26 17:16:54

I didn't realise my original post had been deleted. GN has not contacted me. So we're not allowed to even comment on a widely shared news item? I resent this censorship.
Obviously antisemitism is not good but neither is condoning violence against Palestinians by illegal Israeli 'settlers'.

Maremia Wed 29-Jul-26 17:45:19

That's odd. I thought you had to be told about deletions.
With you, about both antisemitism and settler violence.
