Could easily be.

Thanks to our politicians allowing America's military to use Britain as a launchpad for it's unhinged dictator President's hostile ambitions, notably the US Air Force, the Iranian's have now declared us a target.

And this is where all the bowing and scraping to America has got us.........

Iran cant win this, because the US alone has far more resources all the US needs to do is to reply with the same low tech weapons that Iran uses. Stop using high tech weapons costing $millions blockade Hormuz Iran cant win, it's hard on the gulf states but this terrorist state has got to be stopped

There’s only one terrorist state in that area and it’s Israel!Tell me when Iran started any war in the Middle East in this century then explain the mess the Zionist state of Israel has been making for over 70 years?

I,m shocked so any on here still support the murdering Netanyahu and hissidekicks who say murdering Palestinian babies is what they should do.
Not forgetting them destroying homes and lives all across the Middle East ..how can the possibly justify this greed and power hungry vile government?

Iran doesn’t need to start any wars, it just encourages and pays for others to do it for them, you know, hezbollah, hamas and houthis, the three horrible H’s. Also to groups around the world.
The regime sits like a fat spider in the middle of a web.

greyfur Fri 24-Jul-26 20:19:53

There are a lot of big fat spiders in the area. And a lot of civilians who do not richly deserve to have their lives utterly ruined or cut short.

Wyllow3 Fri 24-Jul-26 20:21:02

Frankly, neither regime comes out clean here. Both involved, except the current regime in Iran was a bear that just got poked, and the current regime in Israel has been slowly getting more imperialist over many, many years.

Oreo Fri 24-Jul-26 20:24:10

Maybe the fact that Israel has had to live with missiles fired into it for so many years has something to do with it.

You mean like the over a thousand civilians murdered in Israel one morning by hamas?

Oreo Fri 24-Jul-26 20:26:59

Hamas being the government (that was) in Gaza?

The bear needed a good poke.

I agree with David49. However not sure who's the more unhinged...the Dictator or the President.

Iran supports many rebel terrorist groups in many countries and had started several wars including Gaza, there would be no Hamas, Hezbollah, Isis , Boka Haram and many others without Irans support

Plevey08 Fri 24-Jul-26 20:39:23

Paddyann IMO makes a very good point regarding Netanyahu. The bullied becomes the bully.

Oreo Fri 24-Jul-26 20:48:24

Israel won’t let Jews be pushed around any more, so if regarded as a bully, it’s out of necessity .

Plevey08 Fri 24-Jul-26 20:57:49

I'm not convinced America can win.....if they want total destruction they would have to put troops on the ground. Trump will not want to do that. If they want regime change....nigh on impossible. Trump will want to back off again soon and in a way accept defeat, though he'll dress it up as a win. Iran is pushing him into a corner and negotiating will be back on the table. He will not want to be at war with mid-term elections in November. American's are not happy and Trump's ego will not cope with plunging results.

Maremia Fri 24-Jul-26 21:38:59

A President, showing evidence of mental decline, conned into an illegal, unwinnable conflict, by a man accused of war crimes, in Gaza, disrupting the global economy.
How can there be suggestions that this is some sort of a 'good thing'?

Wyllow3 Fri 24-Jul-26 22:26:08

More terrible news from settler violence today. the Israeli regime is now sending troops in to back up settlers attacks full time.

It's terrible, terrible. this general war has just allowed this to rapidly accelerate whilst the world looks elsewhere.

The West Bank was not a terrorist area. its sheer greed for land, taken, forcibly, backed by a government that has no rights in the area and little excuse as the settlers shouldn't be there in the first place.

"Copied from Dr Waal Nassar:
"I do not know this child, but sleep overtook him today while waiting for his turn in the water line.
The children here have grown accustomed to waking up at five in the morning to secure their place before the water truck arrives.
This child was supposed to wake up for his school schedule, carry his backpack, and stand in the morning assembly line among his classmates.

Instead, stripped all of that away from him, he suddenly found himself barefoot, standing in other lines longer than his years and greater than his awareness, carrying water gallons heavier than his body, and forced to do what half the men on this planet might fail to do.

I do not know how he will ever be convinced that what he is living through right now is not normal at all, that this is not his place to begin with, and that his dreams are far greater than being at the front of the water line.

Yet I know one thing: this child will not forget...

He will grow up, carrying in his heart a deep scar, and an even greater anger toward a vile world that placed him in this spot, and no one will be found then with enough courage to answer his question of "Why?""

We should really worry if Iran wins because they will be emboldened and control the whole region, does anyone really believe that if it all ends with a peaceful Iran, these are religious fanatics that want to die for their cause, they believe that Islam is the only true religion.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 09:49:02

For anyone who believes naively that Iran is a peaceful regime,
They have been infiltrating the UK either by coming across in the small boats across the Channel or by flying in to the UK from a European airport, ready to stir up the Iranian diaspora, cause discord and persuade or pay them to cause deadly attacks. They also use online sites to find any Muslim prepared to do the same and have been doing this for a number of years.
The intelligence services here are aware and have managed to thwart a number of plots.Iran instigates terror plots all over the world, it is a truly vile regime.

"if Iran wins"

There are no winners.

How do you know about online sites which are trying to cause dischord please?

The Iranian "diaspora" as you say predominantly oppose the regime, it's the other Islamic extremists that support Palestine that we should really be concerned about.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 11:12:29

Yes predominantly they do hate the regime but there are also Iranians here who enjoy living in the UK but are disposed to being angry with Western countries who attack Iran. They could be turned to do harm here, according to the intelligence services. This is what I have read and what the government is being warned about.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 11:13:16

Those and the extremists already in our midst.

Wyllow3 Sat 25-Jul-26 11:19:12

Well, we all recognise the problems with terrorism, but to discuss the issue of this over all dreadful "created for what war - except Trump's grandiosity and wish to turn away from domestic matters - must'nt be lost.

Trump has failed to do what he thought it could - a quick intervention to curb Iran hands in glove with the current regime in Israel - and the Middle East is in turmoil in many places, a crazy jigsaw and domino situation, affecting much of the West in terms of threats:

oil prices and the battles over the Straits apparently with no end - and no resolution - Trumps promises that somehow he could force regime change in Iran in tatters.

The Iranians who initially welcomed him btw, given the information I have directly from a small group of Iranians in the UK - one with the sister in Tehran -

no longer think nor believe he ever really intended this.

Israel's regime has taken advantage not only in the Lebanon but as we have seen, the West Bank, not a terrorist situation:

As regards Irans threat to the UK, which is where we started this thread, and definitely needs our concern, as our bases in Cyprus are very vulnerable indeed: and I think it would be very sad if our calls for

No US planes to use bases in the UK anymore

Gets lost in yet more discussions on terrorism, which tho important, have taken us away from the issue

is the UK under threat, which way, and what should the government do about it

I have heard no subsequent news on Iran and the UK - has anyone else picked up news
