Could easily be.

Thanks to our politicians allowing America's military to use Britain as a launchpad for it's unhinged dictator President's hostile ambitions, notably the US Air Force, the Iranian's have now declared us a target.

And this is where all the bowing and scraping to America has got us.........

The security services are well rehearsed in finding potential terrorist plots and taking whatever action to prevent them. The only attacks we have had recently have been lone wolf planned. EU countries and the US control the threat in the same way, together with security around military installations Im not expecting problems

When has Iran demonstrated the wish to expand their territory?
Yes, they have proxies in other states, but that is not the same.

AGAA4 Sat 25-Jul-26 14:56:00

Trump has caused all this by waging war with Iran. They will be looking for revenge and their 'pods' in other countries will be looking for a chance to take it. Our security services are stretched to the limit and there are likely to be more angry Iranians than ever before.
Trump has kicked the hornets nest and many will and are suffering the consequences. Thanks to him we are living in a much more dangerous world than before.

What harm he has caused and it's not over yet.

Point made as regards expansion.
Iran suffered terribly at hands of the West in WW1 and was just treated as ‘ignorant’ in 1963 post Enpire divisions of assets… despite its amazing Persian background.

It has never sought expansion (well unless you want to back to the history of the Ottoman empire)

And people in my opinion are totally demonising Iranians. Most are perfectly ordinary people like we are wanting to live a half decent life and are not terrorists.

I really think posts who are condemning Iran per se should own this and present a balanced view. Because what happens when you demonise a people and bomb children?

You foster terrorists
It happened in Gaza

Trump wants war, war, enemies for his crazy inner world. Best not to give it to him.

Wyllow3 Sat 25-Jul-26 16:43:34

Correction: post war actions were 1953. I outlined them upthread.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 17:00:25

I have presented a balanced view by saying that Iranians are more or less split 50-50, half the population likes and supports all that the awful regime does and half are wanting a decent life under a moderate government that doesn’t execute or beat them.
Also Wyllow3 best not to allow them nuclear capabilities!
This military action by the US was absolutely needed, and the 50% who hate their regime were happy for it to go ahead.Of course they’re disappointed that some of the regime are still there but it was never a given that the whole government would topple.

We will be living in an even more dangerous age if Iran were allowed to develop nuclear bombs.

And in case posters hadn’t noticed, Muslim extremists have been causing death and destruction in the UK and many other countries for years and years.

Wyllow3 Sat 25-Jul-26 17:09:03

I am trying to get a dialogue on the big picture, Oreo, as this is what the thread is all about, ie a huge chunk of the world being drawn into a war and economic consequences and direct threats on a bigger scale than individuals in the UK.

We cannot discuss these by continually returning time after time to Muslim extremists as you seem to want to do - it just kills any wider discussions. Never mind guesses about the % of the population in Iran that support the regime.

It's just not working, whether that is intentional or not.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 17:10:08

The whole of the Iran regime are Muslim extremists!

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 17:11:49

It isn’t a guess about the percentage of Iranians loyal to the regime and the very many who are sick of them and have had family members murdered by them, it’s what I have read.

Yes, they have proxies in other states, but that is not the same.

It's not about increasing territory, it's about spreading Shia ideaology, and the strict Sharia law, they are not nationalists they are religious fanatics

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 17:18:14

The thread wasn’t about the big picture, whatever you mean by that, but by discussing possible Muslim extremist action here in the UK, either by Iranians who have slipped into the UK or anyone who will be paid to do it.As for bowing and scraping as the OP puts it, the US are our allies not Iran.

Who hate the West and and our liberal way of life.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 17:19:25

It’s also about them killing as many Jews as possible too.

Fallingstar Sat 25-Jul-26 17:19:49

The whole of the Iran regime are Muslim extremists!

Indeed they are Oreo. But many countries have governments or regimes that we might find abhorrent. In Saudi there is a very strict form of Islam which insists a woman cannot watch TV alone but must have her husband or a chaperone with her, and a woman who is raped can be forced to marry the rapist.
Public executions are also par for the course usually with a decapitation using a sword. Bin Laden was Saudi and Al Queda was Saudi extremism. But I don’t think the US is about to go to war with Saudi.
I feel so sorry for the Iranian people living under the heel of the regime but regime change cannot be achieved by an outside party it must be achieved from within Iran. And in any case that was not the aim of the US. It was mentioned briefly in the beginning then dropped.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 17:27:39

Nobody can do anything about regime change in the countries you mention, nor should it be tried Fallingstar and you’re missing the point entirely. If regime change had happened in Iran so much the better in one way, but it would have meant civil war there as the population are so divided.
Better to bring what’s left of the regime to the table and to greatly reduce their military and weapons and make sure they can’t get ahead with their nuclear hopes.Which is what the US is currently doing.

Wyllow3 Sat 25-Jul-26 17:29:27

That was beyond a farce.
Portraying himself as a rescuer, Trump bombed all those poor girls in a school and expects gratitude from the population for their rescue.

My Iranian contact says that internally the regime has softened its stance on issues like headscarves etc that were a breaking point - you just don't cross the revolutionary guard on key points. Key moves to maintain power and get the backing of those who previously rebelled as long as you are prepared not to rock the boat politically.

I don't think people realise - women go to University as freely as men, women doctors and other professions. They don't support the regime as such, but get on with life and don't get political.

but the bombing of civilians is probably radicalising those who were not previously inclined - this is the terrible, terrible error in attacking. You turn people so against the West that they change their thinking about what should be done.

I think you are right. The regime has become more emboldened because of Iranians who previously sat on the fence now supporting them because their country is being attacked and their families are sufffering.

Wyllow3 Sat 25-Jul-26 17:49:37

This btw is yet another good reason that it's quite clear to all that the UK does not in any way stand with Trump as in attacking.

The Iranian regime is playing a cunning game on this internationally: basically as things stand, they have outwitted Trump who thought he was being so clever.

Oreo Sat 25-Jul-26 17:52:34

The stance on headscarves has only softened as your ‘Iranian contact’ puts it because they don’t have the manpower now to enforce it.
But again, that’s not what is important right now, degrading the regime further is the aim. It’s highly unlikely that the ‘Supreme Leader’ is alive too, he’s never been seen.

Clever? That made me laugh, their country is in a dire position and they have created even more enemies all across that region.
All they have is bluster.

Your evidence for this wild claim that the UK doesn’t stand with the US?
It isn’t clear at all.The UK government doesn’t want to be drawn in ( that’s good since our military isn’t all it should be) but the bombers are allowed to take off from Fairford and return. The US are still our allies.
People in the UK will be divided as I know some who think the US should do more to curb Iran and those who are fearful of Muslim extremists here.

Iran is a rogue dangerous country feeding its proxies and propaganda everywhere. The regime has everyone in a tight grip, it’s supporters and dissidents alike and poses a very real threat to the whole region.

I agree with you.
