Farage, Reform, their plans, why bother?

When you have worked hard all your life and paid your taxes you in the very least expect good public services and being able to see a Dr when you need one in a reasonable time frame.

Unfortunately, since 1979, (with a 13 year break for a Labour government) voters have chosen to vote for tory governments whose stated policy was to drastically reduce the amount of money spent by the state on public services. With the results which we are all experiencing now.

Your hard work and 'paying in' counts for absolutely nothing as far as the economic ideology they chose to follow is concerned.

Oh, the irony of your post. Reform do not support the ‘good public services’ you wish for, their central tenet is ‘small state’. That means greatly reduced public services.

Obviously you’re free to support whichever party you want to, but please don’t vote Reform with them improving public services in mind.

Just Farage, those of you who despise and abhor Asylum Seekers, writing most of them off as dangerous grifters/scammers, actually do not see the irony of your beliefs, do you?

I simply wanted to discuss Farage and his ideals, values and policies.

As far as I can see, his entire plans simply revolve around penalising vulnerable people, black, white, British, non-British, low paid, unwell, unemployed.

His entire rhetoric punishes those who cannot or will not help themselves.

I simply cannot understand why anyone, other than the super-rich, would support him.

His nasty divisive digs at anyone who doesn’t fit his idea of a true Brit/Patriot, and his smug speeches claiming to support “patriots” is frankly laughable and honestly, I’m pretty bored with him blaming migrants and those on benefits for all our country woes.

What we actually need, regardless of our own values and opinions, is to come together, it doesn’t matter which colour politics we support, what matters, more than anything at all ever, is that we come together and work together to level the playing fields, give all of our citizens the same equal chances at improving their lives and giving their families the best chances to live their best lives, building resilience, remembering that actually we are all, to some extent, responsible for our own destinies.

Support people, not tear them apart, accept personal responsibility, not blame others.

Anyone who still believes the extremely elite, extremely wealthy Farage, is a man of the people, should check themselves in immediately to the nearest asylum.

Btw, yes I want a sensible, swift resolution to those arriving by illegal means to our, and any other country. I acknowledge it’s an issue and a problem.

I want this done legally and fairly and I genuinely believe most of them are “genuine asylum seekers”, just look at the countries most of them are coming from.

I don’t despise the migrants, actually I feel very sorry for them.

We are now seeing the results of a prolonged period of decline in public services. Having worked in the Criminal Justice System for many years, I saw the impact of George Osborne's "austerity" programme which was a complete disaster.

Reform only spout what people want to hear, with no substance behind what they are proposing. For instance, saying he would use the Navy to escort dingies back into France. This will never be possible as the Navy abide by the rule to rescue anyone in peril on the sea. He can't make the Navy do anything. Also about leaving a section of the ECHR, this would take at least 5 years after negotiation with the EU. It took Theresa May 5 years travelling back and forth to the EU, and still Brexit wasn't done properly. Boris came back with his silly slogan. 'Get Brexit done'. As a result, Northern Ireland lost out, while Southern Ireland is still part of the EU. Scotland wanted to temain inbthe EU. How is Brexit orchestrated by Farage doing? There are many more of Reforms' proposed policies I can break down but just haven't got the time. Reform are a bunch of grifters whose party of MPs defected from the Conservative party. Why give such prominence to a party which has very few MPs?

Remain in the EU.

How very odd to mention NHS services in the same breath as Reform.

Their latest policy on benefits involves employers paying for sick pay through an insurance scheme. Reform say they will reduce employer’s NIC to be cost neutral.

You do know, yanda, that NIC partly funds the NHS to the tune of around £60 billion a year and most of what is left pays for the State Pension? So what gives? NHS services or State Pension?

Although former chair Dr David Bull claims to have written one, Reform have no published policy on Health beyond a slogan “Protect the NHS”. It’s pathetic.

Meantime, Reform councillors are falling at an alarming rate. Now Tim Montgomerie has been given the boot too. The party of free speech doesn’t like free speech. Nobody is allowed to say a word against Farage’s attack dog Zia Yusuf. What is going on? Why is Farage protecting him when he’s so obviously a loose cannon?

Of course, it would take a professional clinician to diagnose Farage but he seems to fit the definition of the Dark Triad, a group of three negative personality traits in psychology: narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy.

I think that people who support them can only focus on one thing the stopping of the illegal immigrants, whilst I agree they should be stopped, people should look at Reforms other ideas they are not good imo

I absolutely get your point.

But it does lead me to ask what NF has actually achieved to make ANY normal average persons life any fairer or improved?

So AB, has at least, in his capacity of Manchester’s Major, for 9 years, been responsible for 3 million people, working with them to improve their lives.

Prior to this he was an MP.

He’s had a huge amount of experience in politics, and prior to that he held a “real” job.

He’s a first generation University graduate and he has a true, lived, understanding of the working class, ie those who work for a living, those who are the backbone of Britain.

No, he’s not the messiah, he’s certainly not perfect, I didn’t like the way he deposed Starmer, but he’s here now, and personally I have a damn site more hope in him making our country a better, more equitable place than I’d ever have in the narcissistic Farage and his fellow MPs.

Each to their own.

We live in a democracy, we still have freedom of speech, we all have our own moral compass. These are rights I hope continue to the end of time.

I feel your “description” of traits fits Farage far more succinctly that having a “fragile ego”.

Delving into personality types and traits is always interesting, though naturally the truths emerging are not always complimentary.

I still don’t, and I guess I never will, understand why people choose to support Farage and his limited company. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Whatever you think of Farage. He is popular because he says what a lot of decent, working people think.

Their opinions are based upon their own everyday reality and experiences. And they are not racist or thick.

Not on the smugness of parroting outdated Liberal policies. And politically correct dogma and Wokeism and Virtue Signalling.

You know the people who know better than you. And have to put you down to feel better about themselves.

Modern Politics is really about Governments serving the interests of the Elites. And them staying in power. They are not interested in anything else.

The media support them in this . Don't take any notice of the BBC or fancy pants C4 documentaries.

If this current,feckless Labour Government really wanted to solve the small boats and illegal immigration problem . They would get out of the ECHR tomorrow.

But they won't because of the Island of Ireland. This is the question that really rules the roost .

This country and the rest of the World is now facing unemployment and many changes due to Climate Change and AI. Never mind anything else.

Farage is actually the least popular leader of main parties. All people have their own everyday reality and experiences yet are favouring other leaders above Farage.

It cannot be said the Labour Party serves the interests of elites- that's a ridiculous statement. That's what Trump said to gain power but look what happened. Trump is the elite. He serves himself and the elite. Thats would be the same if Farage was ever to gain PM power as he fashions himself on Trump.

Thats why Reform UK attracts those types of elite, rich, business £ donors.

The open warfare that is going on within the party won’t help. Zia Yusuf seems to have gone rogue or Farage is using him. Tim Montgomerie said his suspension was supposed to be confidential but was leaked by someone in Reform to Guido Fawkes. He says the suspension was issued without Farage’s knowledge - but who knows whether Farage is telling the truth?
