What about her own father?

So Harry and family are coming back!
(950 Posts)Interesting.
And the children starting school here.

A Google search indicates that the State Department is currently 'actively' reviewing Harry's Visa file. Trump repeatedly targeted his Visa status during his rallies - he doesn't like Meghan who publicly criticised him in the past.
All good reasons for getting out whilst the going’s good.
^ The reality is that the reasons for the Sussexes’ return will probably not become clear for weeks, if not months. But Harry and Meghan are returning to a UK even more embroiled in furious rows over race, identity, and the media than the one they left – and they know their every move must be scrutinised. If this is what they are choosing to return to, what does that say about the country they’re leaving behind?
specki4eyes, what do you mean by this comment?
Not to mention the dubious authenticity of two children

What about Meghan’s father? According to the media, Thomas Markle revealed he found love with a 46 year old nurse whilst undergoing his leg amputation in the Philippines last year and they are now in a relationship. He told the Daily Mail that he “never expected to find joy and happiness again at my age”. He does not live in the UK.
He decides, like us all, and just like H and M, where he wishes to live and who he chooses to live with, for his own reasons and his own personal benefit.
Estrellita. Google it!!

What happened to Bobby Ewing in the shower?
He died, life as we knew it came to an end.
Then he had a shower and reappeared with slightly shorter hair and a couple of pounds heavier.
MollyGo - are you saying they like the media attention in the USA. But not in the UK?
Oh to be a fly on the wall in Balmoral. I doubt the castle has been witness to so many cries of outrage (William) since Fergie appeared for breakfast as they were all gasping in horror at the photos of her having her toes sucked by her financial adviser. 😮😮

I am afraid the press by their obsession will go on highlighting the returners rather than those doing their royal, tedious responsibilities day in and day out.
That is the tragedy here - the undermining of the few royal active family members.
I totally agree with you.
Calendargirl I agree. Too much is made of the king supposedly wanting more time with his grandchildren.
Not all grandparents are like this.
My dad had no interest in my children at all. And I know many like him.
I think Harry is probably jealous that William's children see more of him that his do because he has shown himself to be jealous of William in general!

I think this is true, in which case he’s doing the right thing giving the King more opportunity to have a relationship with Archie and Lili so the resentments don’t pass on to the next generation.
I wonder if it will feature in The Crown?

Maybe that’s the rôle that she’s allegedly been offered.

The Crown tv series finished December 2023.
No more are planned.
She could have been offered the role of Wallis Simpson in (yet another) Edward and Wallis production
An estimate of £5m a year for round the clock protection for H&M who are non-working royals. I sincerely hope the taxpayer isn't going to foot this particular bill. Let the family have a whip round if they are that concerned.
AB has said any security for H & M is a private matter.
Oh no Samsara! I used to love Strictly.
The worst thing about the Prodigal Son's return will be the media frenzy. Which is fed of course by (sorry) the interest shown by the likes of us.
To my mind their return has been encouraged and supported by the Spencer family and I am assuming that their 'non Royal' residence will be on the Althorp Estate. Strange that this coincides with the publication of his book 🤷
There is a lot of trouble ahead I'm afraid and the only thing we can be sure of is that we will not be hearing "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth".
We're living through interesting times to be sure, but I genuinely am sorry for all those directly involved, particularly the children.

^Harry will able to see his father more with his children- nice for them both.^
You assume Meghan will let him.
If H&M continue to stir up family trouble don't discount the titles being removed, as for a reconciliation with William that's doubtful.
It may only be a short time until William is King don't rule anything out, as we saw with the Duke of Windsor excommunication is not foreign to the Royals.

I find this Spencer connection most likely as Harry has always seemed a Spencer rather than a Windsor.
The Spencer family has always been troublesome.
Didn't one of our old King Henrys with the homosexual son put into law that no Prince of Wales was to have anything to do with the Spencer family - back in the 12th C. I think.
I despair. I had a peek at the Daily Mail online and the amount of vitriol by the right-whingers (see what I did there) about H and M is appalling. Fortunately other media outlets are more positive.

What do I think? I continue to be stunned by the level of anger expressed by some towards two people they’ve never met. How thoughts and feelings are projected on to them. The complete disregard for human compassion and acceptance that family dynamics are complex. Estrangement is hugely painful for anyone involved. Each participant is likely to have a different view and as Her Maj commented, recollections my vary
Demonising one side or another is not constructive. Simplifying complex problems enhances unhealthy polarisation
Well said!
I see a lot of left wing hatred against them, too. Probably more when I think about it.It is not just the ‘right wing’people. You get the anti monarchists hating the whole lot of them. Possibly with reason ?
The Prodigal Son was contrite and begged forgiveness. I don’t see that with Harry.

Clearly that’s the ridiculous myth perpetuated by certain types that the two children they have are not biologically theirs, or, as in some extreme cases, the children are “made up”.
The same type of people who insist Harry is not the biological son of our King, or that the Queen is a Lizard Woman, or holocaust deniers or those that believe Covid Vaccinations contain chips to control and track us.
I could go on (and on and …….), but these “theories” are mostly stupid and repeating them becomes quite boring really.
When cancelled, these type of people often say “Google it”
