Interesting.
And the children starting school here.

Well, she gave up her acting career too quickly so ,maybe, it's best she goes back to it now.
Didn't the Queen suggest she continue to act when married but she wanted "to hit the ground running".
At least when she acting she will actually speak proper sentences instead oh usual 'word salad'...

I wasn’t dead keen when I heard that Harry and Meghan were coming back. But I do think Charles will like to see more of his grandchildren. According to Harry‘s book (I only read it from the library!) he was an affectionate father.

I would be happy if Harry apologised to Charles, Camilla, William and Catherine, and he and W and C were to be reconciled. Who knows if that will happen though.

I suppose he could have apologised in private.

The story of the Prodigal Son is irrelevant JenniRen.

He returned penniless to his father and was prepared to work as a servant. He was full of remorse, accepting full responsibility for his actions and seeking only his father's forgiveness; repentance being the point of the parable.

I agree that the Prodigal Son was repentant, publicly, and Harry hasn’t been. Though we don’t know what he has said to his father in private.

I think another point of the parable is the father’s great love for his son and his great willingness to forgive as soon as the son repented and came back to him. I love that. This is one of my favourite Bible passages because of what it says about the heart of God towards humans.

Long story short presumably no-one can prevent them returning to live in the UK. Mr Windsor is a UK citizen and presumably legality for Mrs Windsor is automatic or has been arranged.
I don't understand why they're doing it because the media of all kinds including the press will be swarming over their every breath, appearance and utterance and I thought that that was exactly what they hated.
The King must have intervened to provide them with a full security detail because that I presume that keeps the media at a distance to some degree.
A professional journalist in the Guardian suggested tongue-in -cheek " Home Alone/ Batman/ Whatever 2" a refurbishing of the "Brand" by revisiting the only plot that ever made them any money viz victims of the Horrible Country and the Horrible Royal Family.
Spencer's new book on Diana is due out in the Autumn and the Invictus Games are on in September I think.
That is the publicity planets aligning.

Takes one to know one.
Meghan was very rude about Trump and he won't forget.

... no, he won't. I believe he's up late many nights on Truth Social resurrecting all the slights aimed against him, by everybody. His ego appears to be so fragile he just can't let them go.

It's affecting him - there are many occasions where you can see him temporarily falling asleep during meetings and events. His inability to rise above the inevitable criticism is unhealthy.

... Trump can also be very rude about people, including the disabled, war heroes, and certainly women who dare to question him, even if civilly, so yes - he'll hold the grudge against Meghan.

I heard the king was told snout this only this week so it must have surprised him as much as everyone else

I doubt she’ll be making a guest appearance on Clarkson’s Farm.

If she was offered a million to run naked past Diddly Squat and the gauntlet of the muck-spreader, she would probably consider it.

She probably wouldn't.

Dear Lord, is there any length people won't go to in order to try to denigrate this woman?

LemonJam Sat 22-Aug-26 16:00:47

Sadly, probably not Dickens. M and H themselves have said so very little about their plans to return to the UK- but main stream and social media has exploded with speculation, disparagement and downright vitriol. It begs the question why people are so disparaging towards Meghan- so fed that question into A1- here’s what it came up with:

The intense public backlash and criticism directed at Meghan Markle stem from a complex intersection of cultural clashes, media narratives, and deep-seated societal prejudices. Observers and analysts generally divide the reasons for the vitriol into systemic identity-based factors and specific behavioural or institutional grievances.

Identity, Culture, and Systemic Biases
Race and Gender Many sociologists and cultural commentators argue that misogynoir (misogyny directed at Black women) and overt or latent racism play a substantial role in the hostility she faces. As a biracial American woman entering a traditionally white, rigid British institution, she became a focal point for racial animus.
The "outsider" Effect Meghan broke the traditional mold of a royal spouse. She was an American, a divorcee, older than her husband, and a self-made professional actress. This clashed with traditionalist expectations of royal behaviour and British class structures.
Cultural Disconnect Her open, emotional communication style and comfort with California-style wellness and self-expression often read as "inauthentic" or overly performative to critics, particularly in the UK, where stiff upper lip cultural norms prevail.

Institutional and Behavioural Criticisms
*The Royal Departure - Megxit*: Her and Prince Harry’s decision to step back from royal duties in 2020 and relocate to North America infuriated traditionalists and royal loyalists. Critics accused her of "tearing apart" the royal family and orchestrating the departure, while viewing their subsequent commercial deals (with Netflix, Spotify, and publishing houses) as an attempt to monetise royal status without fulfilling traditional public service.
Perceived Hypocrisy Detractors frequently accuse the couple of demanding privacy while simultaneously releasing high-profile documentaries, interview specials (such as the Oprah interview), and memoirs that publicly criticise the royal institution. Critics argue that discussing royal life while trying to build a commercial brand is contradictory.

Role of the Media Media analysis shows that the tabloid press—particularly in the UK—played a massive role in manufacturing and amplifying negative framing of Meghan from the very beginning, contrasting her actions unfavourably with other public figures.

On platforms like Reddit, opinions remain sharply mixed supporters see her as a survivor of a toxic, archaic institution and relentless media bullying, whereas detractors maintain that public dislike is a fair response to her own perceived manipulation, grandstanding, and disrespect toward the monarchy.

LemonJam Sat 22-Aug-26 16:04:03

Even for those that disparage M- she continues to smile and nobody can deny she is a survivor, even in the face of all the endless disparagement.

She is the mother of 2 small children- hopefully, for their sake, the country can allow the family some opportunity at least to live a life with some peace and happiness.

Labradora Sat 22-Aug-26 16:57:17

That's an interesting analysis , Lemonjam.
I'll go with Cultural Disconnect but mostly Perceived Hypocrisy.
Everything started so well with the P and Princess of Wales and the Sussexes being "The Fab Four" ; I remember thinking at the time that MM was used to being a star and would never accept being No 2 to the Princess Of W. I also couldn't see her regularly shaking hands with ordinary people on a wet afternoon in Nottingham.
Megxit 2 "Return of the Leaders, Humanitarians and Influencers " may be worth watching......

When it comes to denigrating people, Meghan is right up there. What goes round and all that.

Mollygo Sat 22-Aug-26 17:21:25

I truly hope that she and Harry make that possible by offering the media nothing to pick on.
No publicity, no speeches, no publications, no derogatory comments about the country where they are hoping to make their home.

But . . .

eazybee Sat 22-Aug-26 17:49:02

More pontification in the cause of virtue signalling.

LemonJam Sat 22-Aug-26 17:56:37

Offering the media nothing to pick on? Impossible- the media will pick on any meat on any bone, no matter what M and H do if they have an audience. Just look at the last few days. They are damned whatever they do most likely.

M and H will necessarily have to court some publicity to secure and promote commercial adventures- as they go about earning a living- unfair to think otherwise.

They will necessarily have to make some speeches e.g in relation to any of their charity work/ Invictus Games for example and any future such philanthropic adventures- unfair to think otherwise.

They will turn up at RF christenings, marriages and funerals and there will be endless speculation where are they sitting- how received by other RF members etc etc.

If they stick to a expectation of a modicum of respectful behaviour, smile, remain silent enough as expected etc in all fairness as part of a reciprocal 'contract' the media should play its part and stop manufacturing and amplifying negative framing of them both, particularly Meghan contrasting her actions unfavourably with others. However, no matter how silent, or how 'well behaved' M and H are, I don't think much of the main stream media disparagement and vitriol will stop or abate.

The public plays a part also- when it laps it all up and speculates endlessly on social media what they are doing, going to do, what their motivations are, what their reasons are for life decisions they make, dredging up past perceived crimes and misdemeanours- on and on and on. That's a sad reflection on the society we have become.

Pair of grifters
He must have a short memory - maybe he should read his own book to refresh his memory for the damage he did to his own family

Lathyrus3 Sat 22-Aug-26 18:53:49

Al, the spin in the world wont change anyone’s current opinion.

Though Im sure they appreciate the effort😬

Like other members of the Royal family they'll have to find ways to deal with speculation, gossip, negative and positive views. Media, worldwide and social is here to stay.

Its a bit unrealistic to campaign for them to be given special privacy treatment that differs from all the other members if the family.

In fact, if their supporters do that it'll be the special privacy laughing stock all over again.

Fervent denials if what people have actually seen and heard from the couple themselves aren’t going to work.

Mollygo Sat 22-Aug-26 18:57:03

True. I like the “earning a living” idea.

I think M has just been a big disappointment tbh and H.

I don't even like the RF but I thought she might have been something new and interesting. They could have done so much good in the country.

The security round those children will be off the scale.

paddyann54 Sat 22-Aug-26 19:04:51

Oh dear Gango don’t you see the royals are more than capable of all that the sussexes said and much more?
They,re certainly not the Waltons….lol.
I read some of these threads for entertainment…who knew so many old women could be so bitter and so vile about a young family that not one of you actually know?
Yet you believe the adulterer King and his adulterer queen and the crooks and sex offenders etc.?
Brainwashed doesn,t come close.
From me who is a republican it’s hilarious.
Les Dawson and his gossipy character couldn,t do better a real bunch of comedians if it wasn,t so disturbing that people can be so horrible!

Iam64 Sat 22-Aug-26 19:13:20

LemonJam, thanks for the AI view. And for helping me not feel totally at odds with the consensus here.
Don’t people recall when Kathryn was Waitey Katie, her mother a gold digger supporting her daughter in grabbing Prince William, when Kate’s ancestry, her parents business and her mother’s job as a flight attendant was considered very negatively in the press,
When Diana was shifted from Good Virgin to a more negative description,. When she and the previously good sport Sarah Ferguson became demon women trying to bring down the monarchy..
We could consider Princess Margaret …. But let’s let her rest,

Harry and William had ‘difficult’ childhoods. From what we knows their different personalities, different famiky positions suggest these two boys now men have different views and had different experiences
Why are Kate n Will good and H and M bad.

greyfur16 Sat 22-Aug-26 19:16:57

To be fair paddy they are not really a young family?

Lathyrus3 Sat 22-Aug-26 19:19:53

“the adulterer king and his adulterer queen”

Its all very Scottish Presbyterian isnt it?

John Knox lives 🤣🤣🤣

Mollygo Sat 22-Aug-26 19:20:36

Spare?

Lathyrus3 Sat 22-Aug-26 19:30:25

Oprah?

specki4eyes Sat 22-Aug-26 19:44:30

"Vitriolic" Dickens?!
Could they have been more vitriolic destroying the latter years of our beloved Queen and her husband because of the Oprah interview?
Could he have been more vitriolic trashing his father in his sick book Spare?
Could she have been more vitriolic belittling Princess Charlotte at her wedding or bullying Palace staff?

And now they're coming back to milk the British taxpayer for ever and a day.
Get real Dickens
