Interesting.
And the children starting school here.

I presume that on Thursday, 10th September, there will be the usual official picture of Prince George starting at Eton College

Maybe all the paparazzi will be too busy next week, setting up their stall in Windsor, to worry about seeking out H & M's children in the countryside!

This, of course, is the reason for the timing of the unprodigal's return. I hadn't noticed the connection until now.

As there is obviously doubt

Royalty Protection Group (S014)

SO14 Royalty Protection Group is a component of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Protection Command. SO14 is responsible for guarding the Royal Family and associated residences and consists of a number of sections, namely Personal and Close Protection, Residential Protection and the Special Escort Group.

Personal And Close Protection

Armed Personal Protection Officers (PPO) protect select members of the Royal Family, both at home and abroad. SO14 bodyguards operate in plainclothes and are routinely armed with 9mm Glock 17 pistols. They discretly carry their pistol, radio and a first aid kit on their person.

SO14 PPOs undergo an extensive training and selection course. They are trained in the use of firearms and unarmed combat, advanced driving and emergency first aid as well as close protection basics such as walking in formation, venue recce, arrivals and departures, event management etc.

Or maybe now Archie is prep school age, they want to enrol him at prep school in the UK where Harry was educated. Private schools all start around the same time and any responsible parent would give their child time to settle in a new home, recover from travel, etc before they started a new school in a new country if they were able to do that.

I've unexpectedly encountered senior royals off-duty and at large in Scotland, accompanied by their security protection (not uniformed, discreet, but very on-duty.).

They are always armed.

MarieElla Sun 06-Sept-26 09:03:02

I reckon Meghan is reluctant to go out and about in case she's booed or shouted at.
Armed security can't stop that!

NotSpaghetti Sun 06-Sept-26 09:11:03

But you don't have to live in the UK to be at prep school here.

Not recommending- just saying.

eazybee Sun 06-Sept-26 09:26:18

There is a lengthy article which I have no intention of reading in today's DT in yet another attempt to gain maximum publicity for H's attempt to obtain armed security, ostensibly for his children.

For parents to use their children in this way is shameful. If he was genuinely concerned for their safety he would not have brought his children here before all these issues had been clarified.
He opted out of royal life quite deliberately and has to accept the consequences, as the late Queen made very clear at the time.

It really is puzzling as to why they've relocated, especially as they are so obsessed by security and not likelyto get it here....they really are dim if they think we believe it's to be near the king as he is ill.
We can all guess but basically, I'm very surprised that Meghan agreed to live here again as she spoke endlessly about how awful the experience was.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 06-Sept-26 09:43:56

Latest rumour is that Harry is making a film about his mother Diana which is being made to be timed to appear on the 30th anniversary of her death which is next July.
Presumably he needs to be in this country for a lengthy stay to make it.
This is only a rumour.

It's glaringly obvious why they've come back. Netflix has dumped them and the jam isn't selling so they have run out of money. They want to hitch a financial ride on their Royal connections. They are going to be an absolute pain.

Well done Charlie!

Chestnut Tue 08-Sept-26 00:18:55

They are still going to be a pain. They are attention seekers who will find a way to grab some headlines. I very much doubt they will live a quiet life like normal people, out of the public eye.

MarieElla Tue 08-Sept-26 07:38:57

I agree. Just like Katie Price.
But this statement clarifies their status which is what they're obsessed by.

MartavTaurus Tue 08-Sept-26 07:43:59

I've nothing against their being invited to 'family' occasions, infact all the better for reconciliation. But fancy living their lives constantly scanning your diary for "will we, won't we be invited to be part of this or that occasion?" It makes it very difficult to book a hairdo or buy a new outfit at short notice, and then how do you make sure you will upstage the rest of the royals when they won't tell you what colour they're wearing?

Usedtobeblonde Tue 08-Sept-26 08:37:47

The Princess of Wales is a very beautiful woman who never seems to put a foot wrong, lovely family, doting Husband but my personal opinion is that she has a rod of steel running through her.
She gets just what she wants and Meghan and Harry will not be allowed to interfere with that.

Casdon Tue 08-Sept-26 08:41:21

I think the rod of steel is in William’s back myself.

I think they are a ghastly couple not doing the royal family any good at all. Totally self absorbed and entitled. Please, please keep them and do not send them over to Australia, ever.

eazybee Tue 08-Sept-26 09:03:50

Headlines and photographs, every day, usually front page tell all the facts.
H is blowing up because he cannot get armed security for his children.

Calendargirl Tue 08-Sept-26 09:36:44

I bet H&M are a big topic of conversation between William and Catherine when they are on their own!

And I also bet that Catherine discusses these matters with her parents, and gets their take on it all.

MarieElla Tue 08-Sept-26 09:48:55

Playing the long game has definitely paid off for the Royal family!

Catherine needs that rod of steel to cope with everything she has had to contend with over the last few years.
Many other young women, even out of the spotlight, might have crumbled. Even worse having to face everything in the glare of publicity.

I would think the Middletons are very supportive.

When is your Governor General due to retire? wink

They have acted wisely and well throughout. In my opinion. At least by what the public can see.
