Armed protection would be necessary in my opinion. Not much point without it. The son of a King, particularly in this country should have it.

This shameless couple have spent the last six years attempting to destroy the reputation of the royal family with all the spiteful accusations, yet here they are, crawling back because America has tired of them and also presumably because their bank balances aren’t as healthy as they would like.

What’s the likelihood of this brazen couple offering a heartfelt apology for all the distress they’ve caused over the years?

Practically zero I imagine.

They and their children do not have full-time armed protection, except on official duties.

Aren't these two statements somewhat contradictory? Harry has consistently said his wife and children are not safe without armed protection and yet he has returned to the UK knowing that such armed protection is only provided for working Royals while working (other than for the monarch and first line heirs) He opted out of being a working royal but seems to want to retain the benefits of being one. A bit like resigning your job with Tesco but expecting them to keep paying you or at least still give you staff discount!. Princess Anne only has protection while on active duty as do Edward and Sophie. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie do not enjoy armed protection or indeed any state funded protection because they are not working royals.

The very fact that the King had to write this letter says it all, doesn’t it ? They are a threat to the monarchy. Up there with uncle , another threat.

The letter was circulated to officials around the country that are responsible for pubic safety. Police chiefs will be very careful to make sure H&M are not harmed on their patch they all have armed officers available so they will be used where appropriate Thats not going to extend to day to day protection unless there is a specific threat

Perhaps they should consider home schooling Archie and Lilibet, if the journey to school is such an issue?

It would give Harry something to do, seeing as he sees himself as a full time dad, though what that means if they are at school all day, I don’t know. Doubt he is doing the hoovering, cleaning the loo, hanging the washing out…

They could have toddled off the the US to live their lives there in the privacy they said they craved and no hard feelings.
Instead, they have used every means possible through interviews and books to vilify the Royal Family. All families have their ups and downs but it doesn't need to be aired in public but H&M couldn't help themselves and never missed a chance to stick the knife in.
I remember the old Harry. A Jack the Lad with a twinkle in his eye. Sadly, no longer.

I'm a bit confused with it all really. They want to be 'royal family' when it suits them but most of the time it obviously doesn't. They can't just be around when it suits them to be a 'royal'. It doesn't work like that and Harry should know that. I personally wish they had stayed away as even then they got more than they deserved with all the attention they brought to themselves. As far as Megan is concerned she is getting exactly what she wants - ATTENTION! Is it going back to what it was before they went off to USA, remember all the snubs, all the complaints and resignations, she hasn't changed - wait and see.

I’ve been trying to think of other members of the Royal family, possibly not as high up in the line of succession, but nevertheless RF and reflecting on how much or little interest they generate in the media or are “free” to lead their own lives.
I leave you to decide whether or not they are subject to media interest or scrutiny.

My point is that those who do not seek publicity or rock the boat by very public pronouncements, usually manage to stay as far below the radar as they want.

Plevey08, forgiveness of Harry and Meghan's transgressions is not in my gift so I have no need to practise. That is up to their family to decide.

I wonder if H&M ever mull over whether it might be a smart move to ditch their royal titles before William takes them away?

Completely out of order and below the belt to do it on the same day Prince George starts his new school. Harry and Meghan agreed not to do anything to steal the limelight on that week and stuck to it. So the King (presumably coerced by William as usual) did the deed himself. There was nothing that could not have been done the week before or waited till the week after.

Yes I agree with the contents of the letter but really shabby on the timing.

If the king payed for protection regarding Harry Meghan and the children what happens when William becomes king. Don't think he'd pay for them

I think that’s the last thing Harry would want. Why move here if his children are not to benefit from the same education that he himself enjoyed?
I think it was Prince Phillip who said, ‘Grammar schools educate, public schools “bring up.”
H&M will never stop complaining about lack of security or whatever else peeves them because their life is just one long strop.
The children will be better off removed from that environment even if just during school time.
