This is low, even for Reform

Criticise me all you like and accuse me of being obsessed with Reform, if it makes you feel better.

Reform, via Nigel Farage's home affairs spokesman, Zia Yusuf, came under fire after unveiling the game, known as Small Boats Scramble. In a statement he also said the top scorer on the game over the next month would win £5,000.

It’s an online game, with a prize, which appears to comprise Royal Navy boats “capturing” small boats crossings the channel.

Is this really want we want from our political parties?

Frankly, I find this sickening!
I find Reform disgusting.

I no longer recognise this country we are living in, it’s certainly not because of migrants.

Also Piddington with all the publicity it is getting could turn into a rallying cry point for the far right, and am sure their inhabitants don’t want crowds of men in black wearing balaclavas, fighting with the police descending on them either.

Fallingstar Wed 16-Sept-26 09:18:47

*rallying point, don’t know where ‘cry’ came from.

After all the fuss I thought I'd take a look at this app and it's an eye opener on the amount of money being spent on the migrants coming over from France. I can see why people are not happy, I'm not happy.

I don’t ever recall English lads in London coming out onto the streets swinging machetes, do you? It’s become so commonplace it hardly merits a mention these days. I don’t think these men are the doctors and engineers we were told about.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 16-Sept-26 09:32:47

Mahmood said yesterday it cost £56k to return one migrant back to France. This just beggars belief. We should have kept the camp in Rwanda going. It WAS a deterrent but Starmer cancelled the idea on day one of his premiership. The fool. Germany took it up instead. Or some other European country I can’t remember now.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 16-Sept-26 09:37:28

Googled Rwanda just now.

The Lowy Institute reported this a few weeks ago

“Rwanda and Uganda are in talks to host the centres. (A previous Denmark–Rwanda deal stalled.) Austrian media is reporting that Uganda could initially accommodate up to 10,000 migrants. (Opens in new window) Uzbekistan (Opens in new window) is another country reportedly in the mix.

On Friday, Denmark hosted immigration ministers from Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Greece for talks, as a dozen demonstrators with megaphones and signs protested outside the Danish parliament.

“We expect to be ready to send the first foreigners to a partner country by the end of next year,” Danish immigration minister Morten Bødskov said, adding he hopes the first deal can be struck around New Year.”

Graphite Wed 16-Sept-26 09:41:59

We should have kept the camp in Rwanda going.

What camp?

Fallingstar Wed 16-Sept-26 09:53:30

It cost millions for the failed project in Rwanda.
Earlier in this thread I gave a sensible and workable political solution as outlined by Ed Davey.
Prior to Brexit we had a workable plan with the EU whereby migrants could be returned. There were no small boats before this and the number coming over in vehicles from France was much smaller and manageable.
It makes perfect sense that this is a problem that affects all of Europe so of course a holistic response including the UK is better than what we have now.

Fallingstar Wed 16-Sept-26 09:54:35

But if people are just looking to beat a drum rather than look for workable and humane political solutions, that won’t solve anything.

Checkout stats on county lines and British gangs, not specific to London, knives, machetes and guns are the weapons of choice. MSM chooses what it reports on to sell copy, but it’s going on.

Fallingstar Wed 16-Sept-26 09:56:11

And btw Farage was the mastermind of Brexit so he effectively caused the small boats crisis.

I don't think anyone wants loads of men in balaclavas descending on a village the size of Piddington, I have no doubt those so called patriots encompass "a bad lot". Nevertheless, as has been demonstrated many times, albeit by possibly a small percentage, among those undocumented and often disparate men, who have been known to fight among themselves, will also be a bad lot and therein lies the problem for a small community so heavily outnumbered. Their daily lives will be curtailed all the while these men are allowed to roam around a village with nothing for them to do and nowhere for them to go. Lets not forget they're now being handed out a piece of literature telling them not to pursue women or even children with a sexual motive but conversely handed out condoms, when what they need is a thorough inculcation of what will be expected of them. Long, long sessions on how to behave here, particularly as they view it as a place to settle in the long term. not some flimsy leaflet. All of which will hardly reassure the residents of this small village. Bang goes their children's freedom to play outside in their familiar environment, for females to walk the dog or just go for a walk. Who wants to spend all their time driving to somewhere else to enjoy the freedoms that they should have in their home turf.

I live in Essex and the County Council have just announced they are putting Security Guards in two of our City Centres and one Town Centre due to the problem with asylum seekers being bussed in to these areas and the problems they cause.

A Reform led CC who have been asked by the Tory Council leaders in the towns NOT to spend money unnecessarily as there is no problem.

So far Reform have plundered £150000 from a charity fund.

Regarding County Lines, two asylum seekers housed in the Roundhouse Hotel, Bournemouth were running their very own County Lines set up from the hotel, jailed this year. As if it isn't bad enough having our own people operating this wholly unacceptable criminal underworld practice where young people drawn in, threatened and exploited, we're importing foreign criminals courtesy of the tax payer to add to our own criminal element in that respect.

The Rwanda project had stalled.

Only days before the Sunak announced the General Election, Rwandan spokesman Yolande Makolo admitted to Laura Kuenssberg that her country only had accommodation for around 200 people in a hostel in Kigali. Nothing else had been agreed. There were no camps.

After Sunak called the election, he was interviewed by Nick Robinson. He claimed the Tories were ready to deport tens of thousands to Rwanda, that people had been detained, the planes and runways booked.

Robinson called his bluff, said, Why haven’t you done it then? Surely it would be an enormous boost to your election chances? Sunak claimed the Tories would go ahead if people voted for them. He knew the election as already lost and the scheme was a dead duck.

A year later, Rwanda said it would accept up to 250 migrants from the US in a deal agreed with the Trump administration.

Under the scheme the deportees would be given "workforce training, health care, and accommodation to jump start their lives in Rwanda, government spokesperson Yolande Makolo confirmed to the BBC.

A condition of the agreement was that Rwanda would have "the ability to approve each individual proposed for resettlement", she added.

So where's the evidence that Rwanda was ever going to take more than a couple of hundred people of its own choosing?

No doubt you will trawl the internet to find those who do not have concerns 🤷‍♀️

Criminality doesn’t discriminate, it is in every society worldwide. But we are not simply taking in criminals to add to our own, the majority of a migrants try to work in order to send money home.
But I think you will find that government cuts to policing in general has made criminality both domestic and otherwise a really big issue today.
Blaming governments, the ones in power, for failed policies over the past few decades is what we all should be doing. Not blaming the powerless.

Its not just the small boats and the undocumented so called asylum seekers though is it? Mass immigration has changed the face of society in this country. No one - certainly not I - was ever asked if we wanted to vote for a so called multi ethnic society. We have been betrayed by the mandarins in Westminster and people are angry. Justifiably so.

We’ve welcomed migrants in our country since before you were born.

Migrants legally here keep our care homes and NHS going and many migrants do jobs here that some Brits simply won’t do.

My husband and I both weren’t born in this country, but then again we are white, and were born into Christian families, is that OK?

I cannot say what I really think about your post or I’d be banned from here for life.

What about the many Brits who’ve made many many other countries their permanent homes? Including a good few Muslim countries?

Graphite Wed 16-Sept-26 10:25:25

Funny isn’t it?

In Essex, Peter Harris, the new Reform leader of the council is proving to be a demagogue (as well as a turncoat over local authority reorganisation but that’s another story).

He complains that asylum seekers housed in rural barracks are being bussed into local cities and towns every day and causing trouble - although there is no evidence of trouble.

He has engaged six private “security guards” to patrol the streets from 10:00am to 18:00pm seven days a week - two guards per city or town. It’s laughable but a nice little money-making venture for a company called TM Eye who engage in private policing.

The Chief Constable of Essex has said crime linked to the barracks is very low and there is no reason for anyone to be concerned about crime.

The council leader has done this kind of thing before, banning libraries from displaying material about LGBTQ and Black History events claiming there had been complaints. A Freedom of Information request proved there had been no complaints.

It's very clear he is following an agenda from Reform HQ. The recent exposé by Cathy Newman of what's going on in Durham Council proves that such agenda exist.

But my point about Piddington is this. When in the barracks, the occupants will be under supervision. If similar bus arrangements occur, then surely the migrants will be spending most of the day in Aylesbury, Bicester and Oxford.

Whitewavemark2 I have just asked AI about your allegations of Reform Councillors plundering £150,000 from a charity fund.

Its answer - There is no evidence that Reform Councillors have done this.

I am not a Reform supporter, I am a resident of Essex, with two of DH’s friends being County Councillors (not Reform) which is why I have looked into this.

I completely and utterly agree that Piddington is not the right place for large groups of men, 1,200+, from any country, including ours.

The government needs to re-think this asap and I emphasise with these villagers.

Actually I’ll dispute that!

There have been incidents in my own home town within the last 18 months of groups of youths armed with very large knives, causing issues. They were white. Obviously I’ve not interviewed them all individually to see if they were all born in Britain.

My daughter had a sweet boy in her class last year whose delightful white British born father is in prison serving a very long sentence for attacking someone with a machete.

I’ve never pretended that a small percentage of migrants come here, via both irregular means and by valid regular channels, are criminal in nature.

Nor have I said people of this nature are ever welcomed here.

However, to pretend we don’t have “mobs”, “gangs” or violent criminal groups who are British born and bred is simply a lie.
