This is low, even for Reform

Criticise me all you like and accuse me of being obsessed with Reform, if it makes you feel better.

Reform, via Nigel Farage's home affairs spokesman, Zia Yusuf, came under fire after unveiling the game, known as Small Boats Scramble. In a statement he also said the top scorer on the game over the next month would win £5,000.

It’s an online game, with a prize, which appears to comprise Royal Navy boats “capturing” small boats crossings the channel.

Is this really want we want from our political parties?

Frankly, I find this sickening!
I find Reform disgusting.

I no longer recognise this country we are living in, it’s certainly not because of migrants.

Cossy Wed 16-Sept-26 10:40:22

Ooops sorry just re-read and before you call me out, autocorrect has changed my misspelling of “empathise” to “emphasise”

Don’t bother correcting me, I’m perfectly aware of my genuine error and I am literate!

After all the fuss I thought I'd take a look at this app and it's an eye opener on the amount of money being spent on the migrants coming over from France. I can see why people are not happy, I'm not happy.

Lobby your MP, write to the PM, organise a protest.

It’s interesting though, no one has questioned the source of the info in said app?

Some you of question constantly figures, stats, costs quoted by others.

These figures are already available, as is all info relating to irregular and regular migrants, you simply had to bother to look it up.

It’s clearly been available for a while as I remember a poster on here, once posted daily how many boats arrived.

JenniferEccles Wed 16-Sept-26 10:55:27

Cruiselover you have echoed my feelings exactly.
We are in an appalling situation.

I don't think anyone wants loads of men in balaclavas descending on a village the size of Piddington, I have no doubt those so called patriots encompass "a bad lot". Nevertheless, as has been demonstrated many times, albeit by possibly a small percentage, among those undocumented and often disparate men, who have been known to fight among themselves, will also be a bad lot and therein lies the problem for a small community so heavily outnumbered. Their daily lives will be curtailed all the while these men are allowed to roam around a village with nothing for them to do and nowhere for them to go. Lets not forget they're now being handed out a piece of literature telling them not to pursue women or even children with a sexual motive but conversely handed out condoms, when what they need is a thorough inculcation of what will be expected of them. Long, long sessions on how to behave here, particularly as they view it as a place to settle in the long term. not some flimsy leaflet. All of which will hardly reassure the residents of this small village. Bang goes their children's freedom to play outside in their familiar environment, for females to walk the dog or just go for a walk. Who wants to spend all their time driving to somewhere else to enjoy the freedoms that they should have in their home turf.

I completely and utterly agree that Piddington is not the right place for large groups of men, 1,200+, from any country, including ours.

The government needs to re-think this asap and I emphasise with these villagers.

Well I'm glad you do agree Cossy, I see there could be a potential Tinder Box scenario playing out, it'll only take one incident and the thugs will arrive looking to exploit that determined to unleash hell. Among the so called patriots there will be those who are violent racists who are there for a massive punch up! Caught in the middle are the villagers, between a rock and a hard place wanting to live the life they've enjoyed but not knowing whether they'll have to live a cloistered existence for the foreseeable future. It's wholly unacceptable, the government do need to rethink it. Such a flagrant disregard for the "little person" we're all the little people in the great scheme of things, I just wish some could be honest enough to say, I wouldn't want to be in the Piddington villager situation.

JenniferEccles Wed 16-Sept-26 11:08:15

Oh and by the way, it’s not the so called far right who are horrified at the level of immigration, it’s people from a mixture of political leanings.

Not that it would be apparent though from the majority of those who post on the political threads on GN.

I think the criticism is justified. Political disagreement is one thing, but turning people crossing the Channel into a game with a cash prize feels unnecessarily dehumanising. Parties should be debating how to address the issue, not turning it into entertainment.

Very rational post.

There are varying degrees of understanding on Gransnet of what drives migration and how it can be mitigated. That does not mean that those who do understand think that the present situation is tenable.

I'm sure you have data to support your claim, JenniferEccles.

Is it all about 'saving the nation', or is it really about stirring up violence and disorder?

It’s about using violence and disorder to manipulate the feeble minded into enriching the grifters. Scapegoats are a great vector for this.

Due to how high feelings are running in Piddington I really think that asylum seekers should not go there for their own sake.
If they go into the village I imagine there will not be a friendly reception and I wouldn’t be surprised if shops etc., don’t lock their doors when they see them coming. Which is as unfair on the asylum seekers as it is on the villagers.
I would hate to be a genuine asylum seeker - and some if them will be - who has suffered terrible trauma in a war situation or at the hands of a murderous regime, as in Iran, only to be ostracised by hostile villagers. Horrible.

Fallingstar Wed 16-Sept-26 16:16:44

May have posted that comment on the wrong thread but is still relevant to this thread imho.

TerriBull Wed 16-Sept-26 16:37:56

From what I've read, Piddington is so small it doesn't have shops, just a church hall. I don't think what's emanating from the villagers is hostility so much as fear. "Incidents" that have unfolded in similar scenarios are random and unpredictable, but if one were to occur it could well light the touch paper, then the balaclaved up thugs will descend. I don't know how it could possibly be deemed ok to have what appears to be a hamlet of no more than 400 or 500 who will be outnumbered by 1,200 undocumented men. Madness! It's the government's job to use wisdom and foresight and not to foist the unacceptable on any community without consultation.

It's not about race, my husband at one time lived near a Gurka encampment, they were universally loved by local communities because they were and are simply the very best.

Fallingstar Wed 16-Sept-26 16:48:44

@Terri I agree I think with many people it isn’t about race or religion, it is a fear that is unfortunately being stoked by a minority for whom it is about race and religion.
So I really don’t think asylum seekers should be sent to this village, which has become something of a battleground now and probably will be exploited by the far right. It isn’t fair on anyone.
Where I live in London most of the time different races and religions work well together, always have, and knife crime or those wielding machetes are home grown gangs not asylum seekers, or very seldom is this the case.
Cities or large towns have always been the best locations for immigrants for centuries. Not sure why we are attempting to reinvent the wheel.

Graphite Wed 16-Sept-26 16:55:34

Piddington is a similar scenario to RAF Wethersfield in Essex. The numbers involved are similar.

Yaxley Lennon arrived to stir up trouble. The Daily Mail tried to stir up trouble. MP James Cleverly objected to the use of the site. Claims that offences had been committed were followed up and proved to be false. There was one incident of public urination. Essex Police say incidents of crime are very low and there is no cause for concern.

Now that Essex Council is Reform-lead, its leader is trying to stir it up all over again, putting private security guards on the streets without the approval of the town and city councils involved, using Community Funds that were never designated for this purpose.

It’s all orchestrated from Milbank Tower and politically-motivated to create division and fear.

M0nica Fri 18-Sept-26 17:38:47

I do not think people are objecting on any racist basis, but at the disproportion between the number of people being housed in the facility, which is many times the number of people in the local community.

I look back at the village community I lived in until a year ago, that had a past military site on the edge of the valley. If some government body announced that they were going to use the facilities to house say, 2,000 people, whether those people were 2,000, men or women or university students, or homeless people or nurses and that these people would be free to go where they wanted in a rural area with limited transport, then I would object because, however unobjectionable each individual may be. So many people of the same group with no money and nowhere to go. As the saying goes, 'the devil makes work for idle hands'

And btw Farage was the mastermind of Brexit so he effectively caused the small boats crisis.

Oh please 🤦 he has never been in government..yet..

I disagree, the app is available for anyone that wants to watch just how many boats are crossing daily, the Media won't tell us so the app will.
You say the state of the country isn't done to migrants, again I disagree. Have you been following the people of Piddington? The migrants will change their village , way of life and the security of their women and children. The invasion of unknown men into this country has changed many places , many lives, many have lost lives due to murder by these men, there's a reason our government have dished out leaflets telling them that rape of women and girls is against the law!!!
Have you seen what's happening all over Europe, people have had enough and are finally starting to fight back, to get their countries back.

Absolutely right!

There are no shops in Piddington.

Well I for one feel sickened by Reform / Tommy Ten Names & Danny Thomas who have named and given out the address of a lady who lives in Piddington and didn't stand with the villagers who protested!

Reform are corrupt Nigel Farage and his entire mob are racist, fascist, criminals, money launderers who are hell bent on stirring up unrest in the country. To attack the RNLI is the lowest of the low - I for one sincerely hope that Reformers boats sink mid channel - I wonder then whether they'll think the RNLI "traitors" or lifesavers

Does no-one know their history of this rise of the Third Reich? That's want is happening here - Reform is not for "the People" it's for the elite Crypto criminals who will take your money as fast as they can labelling it Nationalism

Disagree with me if you like but remember this post if the Fuhrer Farage ever gets into power

Surely all genuine asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution, tyranny would be relieved to obtain sanctuary in the first safe country they arrive in instead of paying people smugglers thousands of pounds and risking their life on a dinghy. Once citizenship is obtained they could then freely travel.

Most are not genuine though are they some have been refused asylum in other countries but soft touch Britain has welcomed them in. I think the tide is turning ( excuse the pun) and where once people were welcoming now they are not because we have allowed too many into our small country and it's affecting people's daily lives like in Piddington and many towns across the country.
