Has Trump Completely Lost It?

He says he's come to an agreement with Denmark to establish a military presence in Greenland, with a view to incorporating it into the US as the 51st state.

Denmark are silent.

Don't say he's making it up?

I'm not idolizing anyone. hmm But Trump is still no JFK. His name doesn't deserve to be on the building of another dead President.

JFKs genius was in his oratory. Obama is another, but no other President can touch them.

Maremia Sun 20-Sept-26 18:31:04

Just wondering if anyone would be deluded enough to describe Trump's incoherent ramblings as 'oratory'.

I chose to follow Trumps own idea that if you decided to change the name of something, what you said counted. So as you may have seen previously, I have renamed the white house as The National Lunatic Asylum and it already has the most appropriate resident living there!!

NYT reporting that trump has announced that his Triumphal Arch will contain drones, snipers and numerous weapons.

It isn't actually funny. He has fortified the White House and has stationed the National Guard in DC until 2028. Now his planned arch overlooks the largest protest spot in the country. You may remember the Women's March during his first term?

He is tearing down DC and building himself a heavily armed fortress.

Also, I forgot Andy Beshar when we were talking about possible Dem nominees for 2028. The article is correct, we need a Governor for the role, IMO.

The press is finally starting to push back. I imagine he is not happy with not having adoring journalists around him.

There was no sound for his broadcast about the helipad.
Karma.

History will not judge this period in history well.
I imagine many years from now when people read about Donald Trump they will utter just one word - β€˜why?’

imaround Tue 22-Sept-26 00:38:40

I choose to be hopeful that we are all about to see our Constitution kick in.

I heard his sound was horrible. Good. He wasted millions on that helipad anyhow.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 22-Sept-26 07:35:09

I hope the media stays strong. It will be fine as long as they work together. Trump will not be able to stand having no access to the media - it is his modus operandi and he is nothing without it.

I think people will be saying, how, just how 😱

CNN has this on their website this morning in anticipation of Trump's address to the UN assembly later today. Worth a read if you have a spare 5 minutes or so.

Much of the access and "strategic coordination" under this proposed new deal simply codifies existing practices.

It's a big spin.

I think Denmark had already blocked Chinese and Russian projects in Greenland so this agreement would just secure a formal input on sensitive investments and foreign military agreements for the USA.
I'm not sure if they can veto anything - even if Denmark accepts the deal.

Thank you for the link, foxie48. An interesting read. It is reassuring to be reminded (not least by our friend imaround!) that not all Americans support the appalling Trump.

imaround Tue 22-Sept-26 15:33:09

I haven't read the link yet, I'm still having my coffee.

But rest assured, the majority of people in the US do not support Trump and never have, no matter what he tells you.

42 days.

There is no change from the current situation in Greenland and Denmark is still overall in charge, according to a Greenlander I follow on social media. Usa always had a base on Greenland. Trump is desperate to deflect from growing problems. It's another of his dead cats

It’s been reported that the agreement differs very little from one that has been in place since the 1950s.

The GOP Congress is getting nervous because the polls don't look good, so they are trying to distance themselves. It will work for a few, but I think the GOP is in for a long vacation.

Trump himself is down below 30% finally.

Another mad speech from Trump at the UN.

The rest of the world is beginning to distance itself I think.

MayBee70 Tue 22-Sept-26 17:28:13

We were happily listening to Ed Davey’s speech on Sky News only for it to be cut short so they could switch to Trumps incoherent ramblings. angry

David49 Wed 23-Sept-26 06:26:26

Burnham did well at the UN. Trumps speech was significant, it gave him a way out of the Iran war,
he threatened to "annihilate Iran but hoped they would make a deal." then went went on "after the election"

He knows he cannot win but will blame congress for not continuing the war, in his mind thats his face saving way out.

Has Trump lost it ?
Has Trump ever had it No he’s a rather uneducated fool with a huge eco and brilliant wriggle room ability
