Just under 1 month to go. At it isn’t looking good for Trump.

What is to do?

Well, for a start for the first time in decades he has refused international oversight of the elections.

And so it begins.

I don't think that the oil from Putin is going to make any difference to US voters, unless they believe that Trump merely saying that it's on its way and that will be enough to sway their vote.

For a start, though it sounds like a lot of oil it is a drop in the ocean of what the US uses and having it won't make the slightest difference to their fuel prices

Then it has to be shipped to the US, which takes time and it probably wouldn't arrive before the mid terms

There is also a question mark over whether Russia has sufficient processing facilities for the oil as Ukraine are busily destroying them as fast as they can...

MaizieD Sat 10-Oct-26 21:24:12

Oh dear 'Ukraine is.... Please excuse my grammar

Wyllow3 Sat 10-Oct-26 21:35:37

Good points there, MaizieD. Whether his supporters drink the Kool-Aid is another matter.

Wyllow3 Sat 10-Oct-26 21:37:04

3rd November - the midterms. wonder what else he will try and conjure up. (diesel prices wont have dropped by then in terms of actual supply unless he deliberately manipulates them)

I was listening to something on the radio on my was home this afternoon, where it was said that there is a huge problem with lack of fuel in Russia, and it was very difficult to see how they would be able to fulfil the order for the USA without crippling their own transport.

Having lived briefly in the US many moons ago and visited relatives there many times I think it is a misconception that just because Americans speak English that we are alike. We are not. In fact we share much more with our European neighbours. So I have no idea how the midterms will go, am hoping they go really badly for Trump, but who would have thought anyone would vote for someone like that to start with. I have stopped trying to second guess with the US.

Surely the Americans can’t be stupid enough to vote for him again now that they can see how much like Hitler he is and what a narcissist evil monster he has become

Sadly there are a lot of Trump supporters deluded and blinkered still…or of tge same racist, immoral attitudes as him, but I’m an optimist so I have ‘everything ‘ crossed for a ‘ blue wave. Even his so called Truth Social has many detractors on it now as well as tge ignorant cult mob.
I know I shouldn’t, but I wrote a reasoned factual argument against his last post where he bemoaning the fact that the Nobel Prize people had ignored him again… I got one man telling me to “eat shit and die!” … that is the kind of Trump supporter still left! Trouble is there are still a lot of them. Let’s hope a lot fewer now though!

I still think that the Democrats lost the last election more than it was Trump winning it. And I’m not sure that they’ve got their act together even now sad.

“Donald Trump just insulted his own supporters to their faces, telling a cheering crowd he could say the stupidest things and they'd still clap.

It happened Saturday at his rally in Tennessee, according to Mediaite.

The crowd was chanting his name. Someone yelled out that they loved him. Trump soaked it all in and talked about how much love there is in these rooms.

Then he told them what he really thinks.

"I could say the stupidest things and you'd clap."

He even mocked them, putting on a voice to imitate a fan gushing over him.

These are people who took time out of their Saturday, waited in line and packed into an arena to cheer for him. And he looked right at them and said they'd applaud anything that came out of his mouth.

Then he tried to walk it back, insisting he only says things of common sense. When he tried to count them, he came up with this:

"It's like seven, eight, 10, five, four."

You really can't make this up.

Same speech, he claimed he won the presidency three times and that the second one was stolen.

He told them he could say the stupidest things and they'd clap. Then he said some of the stupidest things. And they clapped.”
This is from instagram but I’m assuming it’s true. Put it this way, it’s the sort of thing he does and says…didn’t he say he could shoot someone and people would still vote for him?

Will Trump try to impose some kind of Unilateral Declaration of Independence, rather like Ian Smith did with Rhodesia back in the Sixties? (Remember that?)

imaround Sun 11-Oct-26 06:10:09

He really is stupid enough the try anything apparently. I really thought we had seen the bottom of the well that is his brain and soul. Apparently not, because he keeps coming up with new ways to shock me nearly every single day. The only thing that will surprise me at this point is if we don't end up with some type of civil uprising between November and January.

Mr Iam and I were talking today that something seems up. Regimes carry out public executions to help control the citizens with fear. A December execution would work nicely for them.

Remember when we used to argue about fiscal responsibility? Now we randomly wonder if our government could be planning to kill us all.

Maremia Sun 11-Oct-26 08:23:36

I agree with you MayBee70, that the Democrats gave away the election.
Hope they can turn it around now.

Suzieque66 Sun 11-Oct-26 08:51:47

Trump is a nightmare ... he is rude, unbalanced, uneven, and if he is an example of the Republicans , he isn't doing the party any favours ...

I can only hope he won't get in again ...

nanna8 Sun 11-Oct-26 09:11:46

Someone in our family thinks Trump is the best thing since sliced bread. No arguing with them, they are convinced. Probably some in the US think the same, At least I suppose they must because he was voted in. Maybe they see things we don’t ??

LemonJam Sun 11-Oct-26 09:24:31

Hitler was also believed to the best thing since sliced bread.

He persuaded people to follow and believe him by exploiting national trauma, using powerful propaganda and presenting himself as a messiah like saviour during a time off extreme crisis.

He had a mister of propaganda, Goebbles who used radio, newspapers, massive rallies and films to project a flawless image of Hitler.

People believe what they want to believe.....

Read this morning in the Times that Trump wants Zelensky to step aside so Ukraine can have a new leader who will agree to peace and give in to Putin. This is the price to be paid for a promise of diesel oil for America. So he is now Putin ‘s puppet. He is also giving Putin carte blanche to further invade Europe.
Trump is surely a Traitor and in my opinion needs to be got rid of post haste. Our only hope is the intelligent people in America performing what is necessary. America bending the knee to Russia in the hope he can glean more votes for his sordid administration.

LemonJam Sun 11-Oct-26 09:49:56

Trump is seeking to belittle, and cower and publicly humiliate Zelensky because he dared to speak out about Trump's decision to relive sanctions on Russian oil.

Zelensky has withstood Trump's similar behaviour in the past as the world saw in the Oval Office with Vance also leaning in.

There will not necessarily be an election in Ukraine, if there was Trump's outburst may work in Z's favour. Plus even if there was a successor too Zelensky at any stage that successor is hardly likely to have been democratically elected on a platform
of giving into Putin and agreeing to all Putin's concessions.

The world needs more leaders to stand up to Trump in a measured way.

I spent 10 years watching my sister descend into the cult. She started with Q-anon and ended up sitting across from me at a table in a restaurant while I was trying to explain how a 3rd vote for Trump will harm my children. She sat there saying to me "Trump says that isn't true". We have now been estranged since 2024 and I will not be going back.

I gave it 10+ years

Well he's already trying to woo voters with the diesel he's buying from Putin, the man has no morals.

Why doesn't Trump just cut out any middleman and promise a nice, crisp 100 dollar bill in exchange for each vote?

Hitler's first act upon being appointed Chancellor by Bismarck was to dismantle the process for any further elections.

History looks like it may repeat itself.

At least there was a reason why Hitler came to power. I think the German people had been demoralised by their punishment for WWI and Hitler made them feel good about themselves again; empowered them. I can’t see why a great nation like America sees the need to make itself great again especially as all Trump is doing is making them the opposite. Deranged and untrustworthy. Hitler was, I believe also a great orator. Not something that can be said about Trump.

imaround Sun 11-Oct-26 17:55:52

Maybee70, because Trump has convinced 77 million people that they are demoralized and should have empowerment, even if it isn't true. They literally believe that they are victims because they have been told that for 40 years by the GOP. It is another example of highly effective cult like indoctrination.

What lengths will he go to to try to cancel them?

Any. He’s desperate.
New York shows their hatred towards him a couple of days ago.
There’s going to be something nasty.
He’s like a caged animal now and we know how that could turn out.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 13-Oct-26 12:01:51

Trump seems to be going full on f…..t with the invading her house and arrest of Ilan Omar. Some of the rhetoric coming from Trump is absolutely disgraceful.

Just 3 weeks before she hopes to be returned to congress representing Minnesota.

I hope voters come out to support her is droves.

Trump is incredibly spooked. It looks pretty likely that the democrats will get control.

imaround Tue 13-Oct-26 13:31:12

I saw this yesterday, but haven't looked at it closely yet. We are definitely entering some kind of new territory here. IMO, he is desperate as he knows he is on his last leg. He is going to start getting even more dangerous.
